  1. If the game series were to be completely rebooted, (I mean a real reboot, not something that requires 15 years of context to begin making sense) what game should it start with? Should it erase everything after SA2? Or everything after S3&K? Or fully reconceptualize the first game?
  2. http://worlds.com/ Worlds.com is a MMO where you create worlds, avatars, and basically anything. It pretty much Second Life but way more weirder. There's a hell world, a world made of colorful polygons, and random stuff like these There has been stories of Cults, and player models being stuck and staying there forever. If you want to see gameplay of this MMO, Vinny's video pretty much sums up the whole game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqel0k0NzNU If you are still brave and curious after watching that, click on the link to try out the game; it's free. http://www-static.us.worlds.net/cgi-bin/download.cgi?action=full&bundle=WorldsCurrentVer Thoughts?
  3. What kind of story would you like in the next Sonic main series game? What characters would it feature? Where would it be set? Tell me your ideas!
  4. sorry for the lazy topic, but i thought it would be a great idea if we could post here links to good quality "ripped" voice clips from sonic games for people to use! (unless there is some other website that accomodates to that better) I personally am looking for voice clips from: Sonic CD, Sonic Heroes, Sonic 2006, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Boom RoL...and possibly a few others (including Smash 4), im trying to make a video project using some voice clips, so yeah, it would be very helpfull! : ) P.S. How do you put something under "spolier"? EDIT: Clips from the show's would work too I guess...if you could somehow edit out the music, or if its part of a dvd collection or whatever.
  5. The edgiest game since Shadow the Hedgehog! http://gamejolt.com/games/action/super-sanic-turbo-gun-adventure-2-turbo/52842/ Yep. So my friend has been working on this "Sanic" fangame on and off for a few months now and he finally has a demo of it out! The demo itself isn't that long, it's just one level right now but's it's of top quality. He's still working on it and he's going to add a bunch of new stuff to the game but with that said, what is the game even about? Well, this amazing First Person Shooter game is about Sonic and his friends being fed up with Eggman's evil tricks. (Eggman is known as Oogman in this game, for future reference). They travel across many lush environments as they go out to eliminate Oogman. You'll travel to such well known places as Green Hill Zone... and that's it for the moment. And you can play as Sonic... and that's it. For now, like I said he plans on adding so much more to the game. As for the gameplay, it's a Unity3d game, it plays like a Unity3d game. Though it has an accelerator so it sorta feels like a Sonic game, and you, you know, have a gun. The only enemy is Oogman, which is Classic Eggman, and the only item is rings, and there's one spring in Green Hill Zone. I swear it's better than I'm making it out to be. Anyway, the game's pretty hard to describe, so I'll quote my friend's description of the game: "Features: Perfect, beautiful environments to explore in the first person. Satisfying death by shotgun. Water. Deep kill announcers. Yeah. They're pretty dank. Detailed, in-depth stats on level completion. Smooth jazz covers. Correct title screens. A 100% polished experience, And much, much more!" And there's much more to be added to the game: "Character selection. This will include all of your favorite Sanic characters to contribute to the extermination of Oogman. Better functioning weapons, better looking weapons, multiple types of weapons, etc. More in-depth stage completion stats. Many more stages. This is just the tip of the iceberg. More music variety. All requests will be strongly considered." So yeah, that's the game. I'll be updating this post whenever new updates come out, right now he's working on City Escape and Metal Harbor, and we have plans for other stages too. Also, Knuckles will be added, mark my words. Also, there is a jazz remix of Green Hill Zone in the game by dante121234 on Youtube, so there's that. Finally, here is a quote from Felix when he played the game: "that was the most beautiful game i have ever played". If you have some spare time, give the game a shot (pun intended), and have fun! (And yes that is a piece of Bootleg Sonic artwork in the picture)
  6. Hey guys! I just wanted to let you all know that a new sonic fangame is in the works! The game will have a similar art style to the sonic after, and before the sequel, and will have music by talents such as s0lvo and shirojyuu! The game will be a mix between sonic rush styled gameplay, and classic style platforming, along with 3d special stages. I will be releasing updates, screenshots, and videos up here on the ssmb. But for now, I will leave you all with a beta screenshot (its in beta, so its not done 0-0)
  7. To further prevent the Sonic Discussion from being derailed, we're talking about this here. Ok, cuz I'm lazy, copy-pasta from Wikipedia It's no secret that I love fighting games as anyone who recognizes my avatar can attest to, but I feel people give the genre more flack than needed. While I do understand that some fighting games have a steep learning curve, they really aren't all that hard once you get the hang of it, but most people will dismiss it simply because "it's too hard" or "it prevents you from having fun". So what are your opinions on the fighting game genre.
  8. So, we have a GOTY topic and it made me think. What are the worst games I've played this year? So, I made this topic for the discussion of your WGOTY in 2013. Now, a little ground rule before we start. Avoid drama, please. We're all mature people here, we should be able to accept the fact that we all have different opinions. This cuts both ways, however, as you should have 'vaild' reasons on why you think the games you've listed are worthy of this title. By valid, I do mean no "I hate it because Sonic sucks now", rather "I don't like how Sonic controls in this title". (Apologies if this comes across as backseat moderating) Have fun!
  9. This article deserves its own thread. It is a must-read for any non-sheep who care about their rights: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-07-microsoft-kills-game-ownership-and-expects-us-to-smile Bramwell has some damn refreshing balls, I'll give him that! It's going to be interesting to see over the coming months which publications and/or writers of Xbox One appraisals are on the Microsoft payroll (e.g. any journalist defending this shit), and which aren't. This isn't the only article of its kind out there right now, either; neither Forbes, Metro's GameCentral nor NowGamer seem particularly impressed (Metro's GC gave it both barrels), but I shall leave those articles for others to read and disseminate at their leisure.
  10. I would probably be '06 and Heroes. '06 to me had lots of potential that had been put to waste, and the team concept in Heroes could have been expanded on. What's yours?
  11. 'Total Annihilation-inspired gameplay on a planetary scale.' Made by Uber Entertainment of Monday Night Combat fame, but members of the team also worked on Total Annhilation and Supreme Commander. Oh, and it's being funded by Kickstarter. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/659943965/planetary-annihilation-a-next-generation-rts
  12. Also known as Amnesia In Space. http://routinegame.com/ Routine is a first person horror exploration game set on an abandoned Moon base. Your job is to find enough data to uncover the truth behind the strange disappearance of everyone stationed on the Lunar Research Station. - A non-linear experience, which lets you explore any part of the fully open Moon Base and find out secrets that other players may not! - Be immersed with Full Body Awareness, Dead Zone aiming, no HUD, no health bars or points systems... you must run, hide and survive the best you can against what lurks in the base. - There are no health packs or multiple lives, in Routine there is a Perma death system that will keep you on the edge! I think that it looks and sounds really good. The Retro Future genre is always interesting to amble through once in a while, and combined with Amnesia-style mechanics of running and hiding and being utterly unable to defend yourself in a fight... this could be pretty damn good! The perma-death stuff worries me though; is it going to be actual factual 'die and your game disc is dead too' or more along the lines of Zombi-U for the Wii U, wherein after you die you 'become' someone else? If it's the former, I might be too scared even to boot the game up, lest I die in my first few minutes of playing.
  13. I thought I would start a thread asking you what your best and/or worst Sonic games are. You can give just your best game, worst game, or both, it's all up to you. One thing I ask of you is to please elaborate on your opinion. As for me, I don't have a best Sonic game yet as I haven't played that many, and I only recently got back into the franchise. My choice of worst Sonic game is an easy one: Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the Game Boy Advance. Why? The framerate is terrible, making it very uneasy to the eyes and making the game unplayable. There is also the zoom to fit the GBA screen size, making it almost impossible to see enemies coming towards you while you are running. The music is also atrocious, even with the GBA's not very outstanding sound quality. The arrangements of all the tracks (with the exception of Star Light Zone) are either raped (Green Hill Zone, Spring Yard Zone, Labyrinth Zone) or half-arsed (all the others). And finally, the slowdown that is all over the game: For example, the speed shoes causes slowdown, jumping causes slowdown, having 3 or more enemies on the screen causes slowdown, the water (which is slow enough in the original) also slows down the game, and (not sure if this is true but many people have said it), the sound actually causes most of the lag. That's my opinion, what are yours?
  14. Yes what was your very first Sonic game? I'm sure most of you will answer this with "Sonic 1#2#3 on Sega Mega Drive" oh and I was wondering how to kill gamelogs on sonic mega collection My ??? games are unlocked since I have bought the game (and this is years ago!!!!!) I never unlock them '

  16. I've been doing Let's Plays for a year now, but in December 2011 I've made a new channel to start a clean slate. I got the internet in September 2008 and at some point I realised that I could search for video playthroughs of some of my favourite old games, and I found a McKids LP on the NES, and that was the start of a love of the hobby that many a YouTuber loves. I may not have the best commentary quality but I still enjoy playing the games and recording them. In the near future I'm hoping to acquire a Hauppauge HD PVR to record console games in 720p HD (so jealous of those who got one for Christmas this year). In the meantime I'm doing games on an emulator, save-state free, so any stupid deaths will be taken with dignity. I've got one complete DS Let's Play, and an SNES one that I started on Boxing Day as is in progress. YouTube Channel: McShadowDust LP #001 New Super Mario Bros. - Completed as of 24th December 2011 - In-Progress As I upload at least one video daily, I post the new video here. Thank you for watching.

    Angry Birds

No Angry Birds topic?! Wow! This is pretty much a cell phone/iPod/iPad/iPhone game. You pretty much play as birds and you throw them and you kill pigs, because the pigs have your eggs. What does everyone here think of Angry Birds? It's a really really awesome game. It's a real huge hit here in the US. Maybe it's not popular over there in the UK?
  18. You can write down your ideas for future Sonic games!
  19. Title says all. Create your own sonic stage. Explain what trope it belongs in, Tell what Features each act has, the enemies that lurk around the stage, the type of music that you think will play in the stage, and the boss. I'll start off. Name: Holiday Kingdom Trope: Winter/Ice Act 1: Act 1 starts out in a snowy valley. It has some icy lakes sonic can run across by boosting. But if you don't have enough momentum, sonic will fall through the ice and into the lake, and then you will have to get out from under the water before you drown. it's a peaceful place overall, but there are some egg pawns who will hit you with shovels if you get to close. Act 2: Act 2 is a snowy neighborhood populated by gingerbread men living in houses made of gingerbread, gummy bears, and fruitcake. There are huge Christmas trees that grow gumdrops on them. There are also candy cane rails that sonic can grind upon. Near the end of the act. Sonic gets chased by a giant toy train on it's way to the royal parts of the kingdom. The enemies are the Egg Pawns from the previous level and some new enemies are the ice orbinaut and a walking present that explodes. Act 3: Act 3 begins with sonic running through a large courtyard with giant colorful ornaments hanging overhead. Sonic will then run through huge golden gates, and jump off a ramp. As he falls towards the kingdom grounds, you will see two giant Teddy bears holding up a large welcome sign. As soon as sonic lands on the ground he will start to run through a giant toy factory. He will see giant versions and small versions of famous toys on the conveyer belts such as Teddy bears, Dolls, Radio control cars, and action figures. During the Toy factory parts, sonic is able to grind along small, empty conveyer belts. As he exits the toy factory, sonic will then run through across a bridge of cookies and to the side of him is the giant train that chased him in the previous act, only this time it doesn't pose a threat. When the train passes under a bridge, sonic will then run pass a choir of gospel singing snowmen. At the end of the act, the goal ring is located at the heart of the kingdom, right outside a huge castle of ice with two giant candy canes beside each of the castles huge doors. The enemies are robotic red nosed reindeer that shoot lasers from their noses, Evil giant nutcrackers, and egg pawns dressed as elves. Music: Act 1: a fast paced version of winter wonderland Act 2: a remix of Holoska Act 3: a fast paced instrumental version of "It's the most wonderful time of the year" Boss: Egg Snowman Now go and make up your own stage!
