This is a thread dedicated to the brainchild of famous mangaka Eichiro Oda. I know we have an anime and manga thread, but that seems too general for such a high profile anime you know? So without further ado... In a semi-colonial era, the world is going through a great turmoil as the seas are littered with pirates and other such riff-raff turning the world upside down. They are all in search of the prize of the former King of the Pirates, the legendary treasure known as the One Piece. It is said; whomever can find the One Piece would become the newest Pirate King with the seas as his throne for all time. But the journey to find the One Piece is a long and hard one, with many dangers at every step waiting to send any pirate to an early grave, such as ocean monsters the size of mountains, hazardous weather patterns that defy all common sense, and the every present shadow of the World Government, and their dogs, the Naval Marines. It's the journey of a lifetime; and for some, the final one. Thus we join the story of a young boy named, Monkey D. Luffy. At a young age, he was cursed with the powers of rubber, and is able to stretch his body to unbelievable lengths, at the cost of his ability to swim. Ever eager for adventure and fun, Luffy sets out to become the next King of the Pirates, along the way he is joined by his crew of misfits, such as the chef Sanji with his heart set on the ladies and his feet set on pounding you to the ground, or the monster racoon-dog reindeer Tony Tony Chopper, a doctor with an A for aid and assault. Join them on their journey as they travel a very fantastical world and meet strange friends and dangerous enemies, all on the journey to become, KING OF THE PIRATES! (I don't know why I go this far sometimes.) So yeah, hard to believe this manga has been running for almost 20 years huh? The anime is just celebrating it's 15th anniversary as well. With almost 20 years of material, and 11 movies, there's bound to be fun times had for a while. So come aboard and watch. Here is the preview of the next episode: Big rule in this thread: ALL MANGA SPOILERS MUST BE IN SPOILER TAGS! IF THE ANIME HASN'T GOTTEN TO THAT INFORMATION, IT MUST BE PUT IN SPOILERS! Oh and check out the anime on Crunchyroll: They update at 10 every week.
If I can get over it not being Banjo-Threeie, so can you! So for the past year, Rare and associates have been making these cryptic statements, that all seemed to imply one thing: Rare was getting out of their now established role as MS's Kinect monkeys. The world was getting excited for a glorious return to Rareware... Then we saw this during the MS presser. You know, at first I was a bit disappointed... This didn't quite look like the sort of Rareware game I'd been expecting. Where were the googly eyes? Where was the woodland critter? Where were the million collectibles? But you know what? I watched it some more. And you know what? It looks pretty good. This looks like a beautifully crafted, phenomenally immersive pirate adventure. It's a sweeping multiplayer adventure, and you know, while that doesn't quite sound like my thing, I'm willing to give it a shot. http://www.seaofthieves.com/ The site's here, and you can get a bit more of a feel for the world of the game. It looks like a hell of a romp! I can easily see this world having the atmosphere and mystique one could expect from Rare. In many ways, it looks like a modern successor to Project dream, the Pirate game for the SNES that eventually became Banjo-Kazooie. So aye say sign me up, me hearties, avast fer pirate booty, unless ye be a salty sea dog. And after all, who does pirates better than Rare? And how can I not trust Rare with their sexy new logo, eh? Looks good, don't it?
One Piece Unlimited World Red was released for 3DS in Japan last year and it's now getting a Western release on three additional platforms for this year. European Press Release: http://www.uk.namcobandaigames.eu/news/2014/03/12/namco-bandai-games-europe-announces-one-piece-unlimited-world-red-for-europe-and-australasia/4057 American Press Release: http://www.gonintendo.com/s/223983-one-piece-unlimited-world-red-heading-stateside PAL Boxart Trailer Europe/Australasia is getting a physical release for all 4 consoles while America is getting a physical release for the 3DS/PS3 versions and a digital for Vita/Wii U. I can't wait for this. I loved both Unlimited Cruise games and I've been waiting for a Western release announcement since the game was announced. I was expecting a Wii U version, since the cutscene graphics seemed to good for the 3DS, but not CG quality, but I was thinking something more along the lines of Unlimited World Blue. This is cool, too. I'll probably get the Wii U version of this, since it has the most comfortable controller and will retain whatever they used the second screen for in the 3DS version.
