  1. After many leaks, rumors, and speculation for the 30th anniversary, we finally got a piece of news regarding that gosh-darned collection! (through an accidental leak by [the people who I speak the language of] gaming website), I'm incredibly excited! Sonic collections make up a ton of the Sonic fanbase's memories with getting introduced to incredible games through easy to access media (mainly with the 6th generation of consoles (& pc)? But... I'm also very worried... Sega nowadays are NOT AT ALL the same they used to be (at least in their marketing), they used to be very confident and ambitious with their franchises, and they wanted to take every opportunity to bash the hell out of the blue devil onto people with how accessible sonic games used to be, but nowadays Sega is showing signs of desperation and laziness, and i DO NOT WANT THIS COLLECTION TO BE LIKE MARIO 3D ALL STARS. What I want from the collection is everybody's favorite! Sonic 3 & Knuckles, this game has been going through limbo as of late, with Sega having trouble re-releasing it onto modern platforms, so I will not be expecting S3&K. BUT something that they have to do (in my opinion) is to put 3D Sonic games which are hard to come by (for Nintendo owners) like Sa1, Sa1, Heroes, Unleashed, Generations, The Fighters, 3D Blast, Shadow, and maybe even the best game ever made: SONIC 06!!! I simply want them to go all out for this collection, unlike another greedy company's collection..... By 'going all out' I mean it, I would love if they added extras, like the many pieces of Sonic merchandise (from any company they choose), or comic book covers, or even an exclusive comic book! (like the ones on the Tomy comic packs), I want there to be great chill music, cutscenes! Concept art! Interviews! And everything else that will make me disappointed if I don't find in the next collection! What do you guys want?
  2. This further proves the franchise has been rebooted. Sega now has no interest in other side characters other than Tails/Amy/Knuckles, nor expanding the universe and the scale of the franchise, nor making deep stories. Which sounded pretty good on paper, but we all knew it was too good to be true. Now Sega is back to its old gimmicks of making a new character just to support one part of the universe. The only thing to do now is to debate on, if the name Sticks is worse than the name Big. Will Sega ever learn just to keep Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Dr.Eggman as focus points or will we get SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (2006) 2. Heck, even a break from all characters except Sonic, and Robotnik would be appreciated. After all I play Sonic The Hedgehog for....well...Sonic.
  3. He's BACK. For better or for worse. Some of the crew behind the Sonic franchise will be making an appearance at the SXSW event, just as they did last year. This time they've promised reveals on both of the upcoming Sonic games. GUESTS Mike Pollock Roger Craig Smith Takashi Iizuka DATES AND TIMES March 16th(tomorrow!) 5:00PM – 6:00PM CST 10:00PM - 11:00PM GMT (feel free to tell me if I fucked up the time conversion) A live stream will be held over at the Sonic Twitch channel https://www.twitch.tv/tssznews at the same time. SSMB's gonna have it's own stream over at MOTOBUG when the time comes, so you can watch it with the community.
  4. Q: Do you personally think upcoming Sonic games should be developed by Sega or Sonic Team, or a third-party developer? Reply to this thread with your answers!
  5. Figured this was strong enough to justify it's own topic, but if not feel free to merge. Big Red Button have finally broken their silence regarding Rise of Lyric and their future/past projects. http://www.polygon.com/features/2016/2/9/10939924/big-red-button-sonic-boom-rise-of-lyric On the mobile so can't post too many details. But they talk about the design process, how Rafei was loosing sleep a year before release, how he studio went into 'survival mode' following the games release and there's a bunch of concept images from ROL and another cancelled game which looks a lot like it. Edit: they talk about why there was the big red staff exodus, Edit 2: They were surprised that the game got such a negative reception... Holy shit!
  6. Man, I would really love to talk to a Japanese Sonic fan one day and ask them how they view Sonic and what they think Japan's general opinion on him is. From what I've heard, Sonic isn't very popular in Japan at all. Sonic games never sell well over there, and I decided to go on Nico Nico and search for Sonic videos. The most viewed Sonic video on the site couldn't even reach a million views. So back when I heard that Sonic Boom was gonna be Western only, it made a lot of sense to me. Makes sense to make a Western only Sonic franchise since Japan doesn't care. But....apparently they ended up localizing Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric in Japan anyway with a full voice cast and everything, because of fan demand. If Sonic is so unpopular in Japan, then how did that happen? And even though this isn't Sonic Boom related, I'm also surprised that they released Sonic Runners in Japan first and still hasn't officially released it in America or Europe, even though they're the countries where Sonic's most popular while Japan is not.
  7. Positives is a video series made by a guy named Shane Luis, who has a YouTube channel called "Rerez". In Positives, he tries to find at least 4 good things about notoriously bad games. Here, he takes a look at Sonic Boom. I won't spoil what good things he has to say tho. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HGIrsUA7BF8
