  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSJMjQAJjio YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! A new Yoshi game? Why thank you, Nintendo! Yes, if you have watched the recent Nintendo Direct, Iwatatatataaaaaaaaaaaa.... has just confirmed that Good Feel, the makers of Kirby Epic Yarn, is working on a new Yoshi title for the WiiU... Yoshi's Yarn Island! ...? Yoshi Land? Yoshi's Epic -- Oh whatever! A name wasn't really confirmed yet. But it's a new Yoshi title, and for that alone, it immediately grabbed my attention. I mean, I am a Yoshi fan after all. And I really hope that Good Feel does this game justice. This is my favorite character of all time they're dealing with here! Failure is NOT an option! ...Fucking Yoshi's Touch and go. (Yeah, I bought it full price! Leave me alone!) So what can be said about the game now? The yarn artstyle looks wonderful in HD, and unlike Kirby Epic Yarn, the backgrounds seem to expand to a 3D plane, instead of always looking like it's on a sheet of yarn or other fabric. I wonder what the deal is with Yoshi changing from just yarn strands to completely woven. I hope that indicates health and possible death. Despite enjoying Kirby's Epic Yarn, that was one thing I didn't care too much about it. Anyway, not much was really confirmed on the title at the moment, but we are bound to hear more later in the year! I know I'll be following closely until the game is released. You hear me Good Feel?! I'm watching you! I'm aaaaaaaalways watching... So don't do a bad job on this, okay? =D ...OKAY?! =D *Pauses to let subtle creepiness sink in. Grab a snack while it takes its time.* Anyway, discu-- WAIT! First, I must know! ...Do you give a fuck? Do you NOT give a fuck...? Quick! Click the spoiler tag! Okay. Now discuss!
  2. Sonic World (maybe that's kind of generic, if you can think of anything better, let me know) is a game where you travel the various islands of a mysterious continent on planet Mobius. World design would be set up similarly to Jak and Daxter games, where you can enter each world seamlessly. Also, hi, I'm new to the forums. It's just a rough, but I am at bad internet connection and I don't have UDK 3 or SGDK downloaded to test it out. Anyone mind throwing this into Sonic GDK? Those trees have animations btw. I can make rocks and other what-nots in a millisecond, so if you're interested in helping, let me know. I'm using this as a test project to aid my level design in a game that I am working on with some friends of mine. Mocha Island/Province (will later connect to a different island/level, or multiple) Sonic's view Here's Mocha Island https://www.mediafire.com/?pdnpobnj978fas3 Here's the tree in case you'd like to place in SGDK https://www.mediafire.com/?pdnpobnj978fas3 I'll update this post if there is some interest for it.
  3. I really can't stand all of these 2D Platformers coming out in recent times. For one, most of them don't offer anything new besides a gimmick, which is interesting at times, but get boring quick. On top of that, these retro callbacks have really overstayed their welcome. Back when Megaman 9 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed came out, these games we're interesting, fun, and nostalgic. But now, because it's all we see, it seems like all the devs are becoming lazy and focusing too much to catering to old gamers. And while there still is some 3D platformers, do I need to mention that literally 90% of them are just 2D platformers in 3D?! Games like Super Mario 3D Land/World and Sonic Lost World are just 2D platformers in 3D. Similar stage design, boring level tropes, very small scope, linear stages, unappealing visuals, not a lot of "wow" factor, very underwhelming (especially compared to gems like Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure) There's no worlds to explore or objectives to do, two key factors to 3D platformers. This is why the 6th generation of gaming was the best in my eyes because they had a slew of interesting 3D platformers that capitalized on what the 5th generation brought us. They had worlds to explore, objectives to complete, basically having more, oh I don't know, EFFORT! All the 3D platformer goodness that we got from the last generations are slowly fading and I don't see them making a return sadly. So all in all, the platformer genre is getting really boring because they just keep doing the same shit they've been doing for decades now. I'm getting really sick of this trend and it needs to stop.
  4. Accel World is a series of ongoing Light Novels by the writer of Sword Art Online himself,Reki Kawahara. It has a manga adaptation and two spinoff manga, but that's not what I'm here to talk about tonight. (You can talk about them here too though, as this is another general topic of the series.) The story takes place in the year 2046. Haruyuki "Haru" Arita is a short fat boy who has low self esteem, due to the fact that he gets bullied day in and day out. Similar to how Kirito played games at first to escape the torment of the real world, Haru retreats to the Local Network of his school to play games by himself. This swiftly changes as his exceptional gaming skills catch the eye of the most popular girl in the school, Kuroyukihime (or Princess Snow Black). She invites him to participate in Brain Burst: a virtual reality fighting game where the stakes are high, the battles intense, and the rewards unimaginable. The plot centers around his adventures in the Accelerated World, along with his Kuroyukihime and his childhood friends Takumu and Chiyuri. There's a lot more to this world than meets the eye, and its connection to the futuristic real world provide the real dynamic of Brain Burst. I saw it when it first premiered, both the sub and dub. Personally, I have it as one of my favs. As a fan of the mecha genre, fighting games and futuristic settings, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are quite interesting, and have some pretty good development. The animation is top notch with a ridiculously rich color palette, and the music is pretty sweet stuff. The world building in the show is surprisingly complex, with a pretty smart use of its futuristic technology. I highly recommend this show to anyone looking for a good time. ...So why am I making such a big deal about this show now? On April 6th, 2012, a good three months and a day before SAO first aired the series got an anime adaptation by Studio Sunrise. They've made a lot of fantastic stuff, such as Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, and pretty much everything Gundam related. It was given a pretty good dub by Viz Media through Neon Alley in April of last year. And compared to the juggernaut that is Sword Art Online, it has been heavily overshadowed in terms of attention. It's almost like most people have already forgotten about it. I just want to give it justice, and I sincerely hope I have. Now discuss, and by MEGA LUCKY like Ash Roller here.
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17117030 This is very exciting news. Up to now they've discovered a tremendous number of planet candidates, and of those, while only a fraction have been analysed and confirmed to be planets, a very large number of those have been found to be superheated gas giants, and only in the past few months have they been confirming the presence of roughly Earth-sized worlds... but nothing so interesting as this has yet emerged. It sounds like a world like no other, a completely alien planet we previously could not conceive of. I hope there's life there. =D
