  1. Just announced on the Xbox 20th Anniversary stream. These three games have been backwards compatible on Xbox consoles for a while now, but FPS Boost is something a whole lot of us were asking for. It basically modifies the original game in such a way as to improve framerates beyond the original game's performance. For games like Sonic Generations, Unleashed and SART, which rely on speed (obviously), this is huge news. News story is here; more games have been given FPS Boost as well but the Sonic games are obviously the important ones for us here. 🙂 https://www.theverge.com/2021/11/15/22782755/microsoft-xbox-fps-boost-mode-37-new-games
  2. You may know about Playstation Plus (With their free games via subscription and all that), but you probably don't know/sort of know about Xbox's take on it, Xbox Games with Gold. Every month, they provide free games on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and while we've been given great selections like a ton of great Arcade games (Battleblock Theater, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Dungeon Defenders, etc.) and full releases like Assassin's Creed 4, some selections are sort of lame (*Cough Cough* Pool Nation FX). You can use this wikipedia article to see the full list of games that previously were given free via Games with Gold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_with_Gold_games Here a few things you should know about Games with Gold. -If you have a gold subscription at the time, you can get the selected games for free. You can keep them even when your subscription ends, something that's different with PS Plus. What should be noted is that this only applies to Xbox 360 games. If your subscription ends, you will lose your licenses to your Xbox One games. To put it simply, if you have an Xbox One, Games with Gold works exactly like PS Plus. -Also, you won't get this benefit on Xbox 360 (Or One for the matter) if you just snag a 14-day trial or less for Xbox Live Gold. You will be able to get this if you use a trial that lasts a month, however. -If you miss out of a Games with Gold offer, you miss out. -Even if you don't own the other console, you can pick up Games with Gold games from either Xbox One or Xbox 360 regardless if you don't have either one of them. -Previously, Xbox One users only got to have one download each month, while 360 users got to have 2. Following July 2015's Games with Gold selection, this won't be the case anymore, with One users now having 2 downloads. Current Line-up: October 2015 http://majornelson.com/2015/09/24/xbox-live-games-with-gold-for-october-2015/ Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (360, Oct. 1-15th) Valiant Hearts (Xbone October. 1-15th) The Walking Dead: Season 1 (TellTale) (October 16th-31st for 360, October 16th-Nov 15. for Xbone)
  3. This article deserves its own thread. It is a must-read for any non-sheep who care about their rights: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-07-microsoft-kills-game-ownership-and-expects-us-to-smile Bramwell has some damn refreshing balls, I'll give him that! It's going to be interesting to see over the coming months which publications and/or writers of Xbox One appraisals are on the Microsoft payroll (e.g. any journalist defending this shit), and which aren't. This isn't the only article of its kind out there right now, either; neither Forbes, Metro's GameCentral nor NowGamer seem particularly impressed (Metro's GC gave it both barrels), but I shall leave those articles for others to read and disseminate at their leisure.

  5. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2399366,00.asp It is a bold move, and a possible solution, good or bad, toward gaming corporations relying completely on digital distribution, and possibly cloud technology (and indirectly, terminate a sense of monopoly that Gamestop is having with the Used Games market at the moment), but it's still in the air as to how Microsoft could accomplish a "blockade" of Used Games on it's console, how people will respond to this, or if this will really come to pass. Either way, it's bound to be an interesting development.
