  1. What is Nintendo Direct? Nintendo Direct is an online presentation series created by... well, Nintendo. Launched back in 2011, these livestreams are commonly used to keep Nintendo fans updated on the latest software and hardware developments. This can be anything from updates on current titles, to newly announced games, or even firmware and game version updates. Nintendo Directs can pop up every month or two and are region specific, tailored to your particular part of the world with possible exclusive news updates. Can I see the latest one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpXQtFbRChg When is the next Direct? When a new Direct is announced, information will be posted here in the thread with times and dates. Check the latest posts. Where can I see them? You can catch a Nintendo Direct at any of the following links, when they're scheduled to air: Nintendo Direct Homepage (US Stream) [x] Nintendo Direct Homepage (EU Stream) [x] Nintendo Direct Homepage (AU Steam) [x] Nintendo's YouTube Channel (US Stream) [x] Nintendo's Twitch (US Stream) [x] Why a megathread? Every single Nintendo Direct seems to get its own thread with time and dates, discussion, etc. then as the games and the news is announced, it shifts to those games' specific discussion threads and the Direct thread dies out. I thought it'd be simpler to have a big hub for everyone to come to so we can keep updated and return to discuss in rather than make multiple needless threads.
  2. Simply put, the game isn't very good, and thus, NoA has decided not to release it.
  3. Well, I was on Google, searching for ways to overwrite the ROM files on Genesis carts when I came across a Wiki article on the Doctor V64, a development and backup device made by Bung Enterprises that is used with the Nintendo 64 console. The article piqued my interest, and as I read it, I came across the following paragraph:
  4. I am hoping that, if we have a look back at past console unveilings, by Nintendo and the other guys, we'll get a little insight into how much depth Nintendo will go into at this year's E3. Maybe. Possibly. And if not, we can still look back at reveals old and new and have a good laugh and/or discussion. Some were good, some were bad, some were pure bullshit! The Xbox 360 reveal is still pretty amazing to me, as, at the time, they seemed to be ticking all the right boxes, and in 2005 all that online stuff was revolutionary for a console. Live integration, achievements, game invites etc, it was a huge leap from what the original Xbox was capable of. Will we see a similarly big leap from MS again? Or Nintendo; will they do the right thing and bring industry standard online features to the Wii-U? Hmmm! And, er, how about those prototype N64 cartridges, eh? Jesus. You could kill someone with those things. If anyone would like to post some of the other console unveilings which Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega and Sony have untaken, feel free to go ahead. Hell, that's what this topic is here for; getting insight into what we might see from Nintendo this year, and Sony & MS next year or beyond.
  5. This topic is being created with the sole purpose of granting you, our beloved forumites and dear friends, an easy means of identifying exactly when each of the major press conferences of this year's E3 take place in relation to your own time zone. Konami's conference is one June 6th at 9:00AM PDT / 12:00PM EDT / 5:00PM BST / 8:00AM AEST. Countdown clock: Clicky here! There may not be much discussion in here, but I'll leave the topic open, just in case.
  6. I thought I would start a thread asking you what your best and/or worst Sonic games are. You can give just your best game, worst game, or both, it's all up to you. One thing I ask of you is to please elaborate on your opinion. As for me, I don't have a best Sonic game yet as I haven't played that many, and I only recently got back into the franchise. My choice of worst Sonic game is an easy one: Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for the Game Boy Advance. Why? The framerate is terrible, making it very uneasy to the eyes and making the game unplayable. There is also the zoom to fit the GBA screen size, making it almost impossible to see enemies coming towards you while you are running. The music is also atrocious, even with the GBA's not very outstanding sound quality. The arrangements of all the tracks (with the exception of Star Light Zone) are either raped (Green Hill Zone, Spring Yard Zone, Labyrinth Zone) or half-arsed (all the others). And finally, the slowdown that is all over the game: For example, the speed shoes causes slowdown, jumping causes slowdown, having 3 or more enemies on the screen causes slowdown, the water (which is slow enough in the original) also slows down the game, and (not sure if this is true but many people have said it), the sound actually causes most of the lag. That's my opinion, what are yours?
  7. Well this came out of nowhere! Nothing (probably) to do with E3 celebrations, Square-Enix have announced a multiplayer action RPG for the 3DS called "Final Fantasy Explorers" via the Japanese Jump magazine. It's also being developed by Square themselves, but has no projected release date yet. Here's the only scan so far; It seems like Square are trying to take a bite out of the Monster Hunter pie with this one, with potentially a little inspiration from the probably-dead Crystal Chronicles mini-series. So far there doesn't seem to be much info, but here's what I've gathered from the few sites to have reported it so far: The plot revolves around gathering crystals.. didn't see that one coming There is a classic Final Fantasy job system, the jobs shown so far are White Mage, Black Mage, Monk, and Knight. There will be many more. You hunt summon monsters like Ifrit who is pictured in the scan again, it's multiplayer-focused, hopefully it'll be online! Up to 4 players. Many weapons to choose from [source] Official Website (Japanese) PS. this is literally the first Topic I've made on SSMB since before the site crash all those years ago, so I probably made a boo boo in the OP somewhere.

For my part, I will be unable to join in the live stream festivities this year due to full time work commitments, but I will be trying to watch one conference a night most of that week on my TV via the Wii U (hoping against hope that YouTube has all the conferences up, as the system won't play Gametrailers etc videos on its web browser) and I hope to not fall too far behind on the news front too.
  9. Awesome Land comes out on iOS in February. There have been a couple of really sleazy Mario clones on iTunes store before like Super Jump World and Super World Adventures, but this one looks great. It's to Mario what 3D Dot Game Heroes was to Zelda, a proper tribute as opposed to a quick ripoff. Crazy unique art style too.
