Are we even 100% sure that it's the Death Egg boss? I immediately though of an different version of an upgraded Eggman Robot.

I'm not to wild about the Boost Hallway thing either. Of course that's not the whole game, but still it's sad to see that they only showed it. I did glimpse a lot of alt paths on that short strip of Seaside Hill though.

Classic Sonic had more boosters and more faux physics. Something really looked off on that Chemical Plant loop.

I really liked what they did with Rooftop run and making it more festival like. Gave it a bit more flair than the original.

Egg Robo from Sonic 2 is also disappointing, especially after Sonic 4.

All in all it's alright, but not fixing anything that I have problems with. Classic Sonic is still faking the classic physics and Modern isn't showing too much improvement. I still dig it, but I got my hopes up.

Wow, Rooftop Run, Seaside Hill, Classic Tails and (sadly) the Sonic 2 mech. That's a lot to take in so quickly! Looking at Rooftop Run, is all that celebration in aid of the 2012 Olympics? When the level was first revealed I thought they might have included it for that very reason, especially since it would be a nice little nod to the upcoming Mario and Sonic wagglefest. I know the stage isn't set in London but it does have some elements from it; at the very least Big Ben, a big feature in M&S. Whether that is the reason or not, I'm much more excited for Rooftop Run now. It looks like we're due a proper CGI trailer for it soon.

I'm not sure what to make of Seaside Hill. There isn't enough of the level shown to gauge how much of it will be in the Ocean Palace.

I'm saddened that there's no 3DS trailer. That version is reportedly at Gamescom, so even if SEGA don't release anything, then hopefully we'll see something new in the demo there. Just hope the demo isn't the old Green Hill Zone one.

... Please note the Jetpack, the three spikes/claws, and the face.

At this point, I'm getting fed up with the huge amount of the HD version that's been revealed on top of what's already been leaked. More 3DS info SEGA, please.

Don't forget the spagonia alternate pathway.

Since this is a trailer I'm not going to say that it hasn't changed and gameplay is still mostly boost hallways. I'll wait until we see the whole level.

My thoughts exactly, at the very least I'd like some Casino Night footage

Blame the people who was complaining so much that it sounds too "low" in Colors. I'd thought his voice sounds fine the way it in Colors and I hope he don't try to sound closer to Jason Griffith.

Agreed. Though, listening to Free Riders, his voice didn't sound all that different. As long as he doesn't mimic Jason Griffith's speech pattern for Sonic, I think we're good.

After watching the new trailer, is it just me, or the footage shown isn't using the Hedgehog Engine? The lighting doesn't look like it at all to me. huh.gif

My opinion hasn't really changed much, and probably won't. It still looks beautiful, and it still looks fun. Physics for Classic won't change. Still pissed that Speed Highway is the SA1 choice. Modern is still too boost reliant, but at least they're are more defined alternate routes, and optional water running is a great idea. If its not instant-death we have a winner.

At the end of the day, I'm gonna play this game, love it, show it off to friends as Sonic's grand return, then rant on the internet about minor shit, and how I hope the next one improves over the last. The life of a Sonic fan.

We have a one minute trailer that was only put up 6 hours, yet we've managed to amass 7 pages of comments, some of them are crazy analytical.

...

Wow...

...

I love the Sonic fanbase sometimes XD

It'd be cooler if it wasn't just a straight line they were replicating.

I lol'd. It's just that they're replicating the stage of each stage it seems.

Actually, I'd rather they replicate the straight line than the platforming/alternate routes. Why? Because I want new platforming sections and alternate routes, not replicated ones. At the same time, I want some things to be replicated for nostalgia's sake, and I'm happy that they went with the straight lines.

I think you're missing the point. There shouldn't be any straight lines, replicated or not.

And looky here! It's the University to the right!

Well at least there are new things in the level to keep it fresh. But still wow sega LOL!tongue.gif Can't wait to see crisis city's similarities.looking at the two though It seems more cartoonish in the generations one. Probably because it's brighter and more colorful. The buildings look a little different. Also yay university! But no pickle...unsure.gif

Also the adventure games and classic's had straight lines. Why can't generations have any straight lines. It seems a bit to much to ask for that. It can have a few straight lines right.

I noticed when the whales are jumping out of the sea in Seaside hill, there appear to be Buoys on the sides of the 'track', and the ocean appears to be shallow.... o: 3D underwater segments please? Also I'm 99% sure they're gonna do a whale chase like Sa1 in that level, as well as the evil rolling rocks. xD

also, I'm pleased with how these look. I'm glad they made Spagonia different by making it festival time, and I'm MORE thankful that they kept in that gorgeous Big Ben grind sequence. <3 I'm okay with the levels having straightaways in them because we're going to be going something like 186MPH, and it feels great to tear past those areas at full throttle.

Personally I think Lost World should be in the game, in some ways it's the heart of Adventure for the Developers, since they travelled for that for inspiration, took textures etc.

Agreed. However with Sky Sanctuary in, that wouldn't just mean two consecutive ruins levels but also two Ancient Echidna levels. Obviously that would mean switching out Sky Sanctuary but I'd rather it stay.

Anywho it's nice to see more references to the original stage layouts. I really hope Sky Sanctuary features Classic Knuckles at the start.

Wow! I think everything looks pretty awesome! I was already pleased by Seaside Hill, so I'm glad to see that it's as good looking as I hoped.

I'm really surprised by Rooftop Run though. It's so festive looking and just looks fun and pretty. I'd love for there to be a night mission loosely based on Carnival Night.

Spagonians, I like what you've done with the place.

Actually, now that they've dropped Sonic in water in 2D, to be submerged in 3D resulting in an instant death would be a massive cop-out. It'll be interesting to see what happens....

As for the actual gameplay, I feel bad for almost appreciating the "narrow linear paths" for Modern Sonic. I always felt that it worked and that it worked well. In my opinion, it's beautiful. It allows there to be a different focus of gameplay aka primarily speed. The Modern Sonic that's conveyed nowadays and it's been that way since Rush. I've never felt that the gameplay was necessarily bad for doing it this way, just different. Without change, things cannot evolve. It's not like there are many other platforming series like Sonic anyways. Sonic has always been a series that felt different from pretty much everything else, whether it be classic or modern. The thing that I really like about this game, is the fact that Sega has taken into account both audiences.

There are some that really like the Classic approach for what it is, others who like the Modern approach for what it is. And of course there are types like myself who appreciate both as long as their both done well which so far, in my opinion, they are doing them both well. I'm not trying to force anything down anybody's throats. Infact, I dislike it quite a bit when people do that around here. You dislike the game, we get it. You don't have to say it every second comment. On the other hand, you don't have to try and force the people who don't like it into liking it. Everyone has different views, I think we should all try to appreciate them more.

I wonder if you enter the door to the left, you're able to access the entrance stage to play the Unleashed acts? So like an act within an act. ;)

The ocean looked shallow and was riddled with buoys in Jungle Joyride too. But nope, it was still a death pit. The buoys in Unleashed just outlined your path, but you could go beyond them.

MOAR:

The palace is the same, right down to waterfalls and arrows coming out of the sea. For reference, the Heroes pic is from Ocean Palace, no Seaside Hill

I know, but in a game where 2D water doesn't kill you, it'd be weird to make 3D water kill you. =O
