I think the IGN video has some hints about what the preview/reveal is going to be so thats why I'm not getting excited and I'm staying very cautious.

I wonder if we'll see previews from other sites after the embargo's lifted. Depending on what time IGN uploads their preview, we might see previews from other sites first.

This whole thing about IGN doesn't have me hyped in the slightest. They most likely have absolutely no information that we don't already know. At best they will have some screenshots we haven't seen yet, but even then that isn't a guarantee they will be from levels we haven't seen.

It's almost definitely going to be a video preview. We know the newest build has Speed Highway and 5 other stages, so we've got a lot to potentially look forward to.

Well, considering the game comes out in roughly a month, and SEGA have whatever they want to disclose under embargo, chances are they played a few hours of the full version of the game and we'll be getting a video preview this Monday, perhaps featuring footage of what hubworlds and whatnot look like.

Also, this was most likely intended to get those who have fallen out of the franchise excited once again. I have some friends and family who love the classic games, but despise the new games. The more they hear that this game is without silly gimmicks and features 2D, classic Sonic gameplay, the more those kinds of people, and even regular fans, will get excited.

To be honest, I have no problem with them showing off Hubs and cutscenes. I just don't want IGN to show any levels that have NOT already been seen. Mainly the 2 remaining ones and all the boss fights. I want some kind of surprise when I play it, except the change in how sonics move.

Well, that's definitely not going to happen. SEGA released a trailer specifically for the Classic Era, which strongly suggests we're getting one for the Dreamcast Era, and the Modern Era. If you don't want to see them, don't watch the trailers and don't look at IGN's preview.

But then those people who is only buying it cause of classic Sonic gameplay will be disappointed cause the entire game isn't like that. That is only half the game among other things.

I'll probably skip the trailers anyway. As for IGN I'll watch it just to see what kind of crap they say. So I can prepare myself to bash them in November.

They can play as Classic Sonic for the MAJORITY of the game but to COMPLETE the game, they'll have to play as Modern Sonic at some point.

You say this as if you know that they're going to give Sonic Generations a bad review...yes they're going to start saying "BAWWW SONIC HASN'T BEEN GOOD SINCE THE GENESIS DAYS" and blah blah blah, BUT it looks like they really enjoy the game and I'm expecting a 9 from them (Sonic Colours got an 8.5 and lets face it...Sonic Generations is better than Colours in almost every way, so it deserves a higher score than Colours)

Seriously, the ONLY things which can compromise a great score for Sonic Generations is technical issues (framerate dips, glitches etc) and SUPER HORRID voice acting.

Yeah but if they're viewing Generations like it's a classic game and they expect the game to have a simple story with no cutscenes, no hub worlds, no characters, no voice acting, etc then I guess this game is not for them.

Did you bother to watch their video preview of their preview? They praise the game and say that there's no way SEGA can screw this up in one month.

Their loss...Sonic Generations is an A++ quality Sonic game BUT SEGA just can't please everyone when it comes to Sonic. If they don't want to buy it because they don't want to try out Modern Sonic AT ALL then fine.

Which is why they're more than likely going to highlight the positive aspects of modern Sonic as well. They clearly stated that they seem impressed with the game as a whole, I doubt they're going to kick up all this fuss, only to shoot themselves in the foot next month when the game is released saying "Oh yeah, all that shit about how we loved the game? Well we lied.".

No. Never before have they released such a hype-filled video of a game that they thought was going to be shit. They've written previews for upcoming games that didn't quite touch upon the lesser aspects of such games, but there is absolutely no reason for them to basically BEG viewers to get excited for a game that they plan on bashing in the future. Like it or not, on a critical level, most of the newer console Sonic games are bad games, bar Colors. The overall standpoint that mainstream gamers have who don't play Sonic games often is that they're buggy, and loaded with boring filler content, which is true for every single one of them since Sonic Heroes (Besides Colors, again).

Ugh. Typical nonsensical IGN hating post with no basis whatsoever. Do I really need to bring up the countless great reviews they've given to Sonic games over the last 10 years? God, they give Unleashed a deservedly bad review and all of a sudden "IGN hates Sonic BAWWW"

Yep...he was excited for Sonic Colours and then his joke of a review of the game came out.

Considering his positive preview of Generations included the phrase "I hope it's not a trap", I'm guessing he has a picture of Admiral Ackbar at the ready just because...

No one else sees the irony in hating on IGN even when they're praising the game just because in the past they've given Sonic somewhat unfair reviews while more recently being completely fair to Sonic 4 and Colors?

This. The bad games get bad reviews, the good games get good reviews. It's not that complicated. Sonic Rush is a good game, it is given a good score on IGN. Sonic '06 is a bad game, it gets a bad score. Colors is good so, it gets a good score. Unleashed is bad, so it gets abad score.

Hell, they even gave Sonic 4 an 8, and the general consensus for that game is it is horrible, so if anything they've been generous to the franchise as of late.

Correction, decent reviews. And I already know they will bash SOMETHING about the game. Now forget about attacking me and get back to doing whatever it is you do.

Correction: Great reviews. Rush, Rush Adventure, Advance 1, 2 and 3 all got above 9. As did Adventure 1. Adventure 2 and Heroes both got above 8. As did both versions of Sonic Colours. As did the undeserving Sonic 4. Yeah I'd say a bunch of 8 and 9 plus review scores are pretty great!

And maybe they will bash something about the game or maybe they wont. Ever think Generations might not be perfect in every single way? Maybe they will point out a flaw or two in their review. Doesn't take away the fact they'll give the game a great review because it deserves it.

Meh, I can see how Unleashed got a bad score from IGN, I'll just never understand how it got a worse score than 06. One strange score aside, they've seemed pretty fair. *shrug*

Anyways, looking forward to see Speed Highway, and am really hoping that it gets some nice treatment that really makes it unique. It's back to back with City Escape for goodness sake! It'd be pretty great seeing elements of Starlight Zone and Casino Night maybe mixed in for Classic Sonic.
