3DS Stages

You all know Sky Canyon is gonna get in, and that saucer boss with it. In fact, it just has to.

Can I hope for a Rivals stage as a boss level? I'd love another remix of the Rivals boss music

EDIT: Oh and I think that anything about Rivals not being released in Japan would be completely overwritten by the fact that Iizuka himself wrote the story of the second one. He'd likely take a bias to it if anything.

After thinking about it, I really only have three wanted stages from the Advance/Rush eras.

Angel Island - Sonic Advance: Why this over the original Angel Island? Well the answer starts with Mecha, and ends with God Damn Knuckles. I'd love to see that battle upgraded. Probably won't happen though.

Sky Canyon - Sonic Advance 2: Ok, I admit, I've grown to love this stage for the sheer bull it throws at you. It's the right kind of frustration, the kind you love to hate. Unlike some other stages and their cunt enemies, right Metropolis?

Dead Line - Sonic Rush: You don't stop, you proceed, Cause this is what you need. There is no other right answer.

Nothing really special from Rush Adventure or Advance 3. At least not more special than those three stages. I think I'd only want Deep Core from Rush Adventure anyway.

If I can pick a stage from the Rivals games, it'd be Death Yard from Rivals 1 and Frontier Canyon from Rivals 2. Rivals 1 actually has a really poor stage selection. With the exception of Death Yard which is a mechanical wasteland, every other trope is covered better by the Advance/Rush games. Rivals 2 fares a lot better here with two tropes that have pretty much never been used in a Sonic platformer before, and it looks like they haven't been used since.

EDIT: Oh wait, there's a haunted house in Heroes. I'd still take Mystic Haunt over Mystic Mansion though

I don't have a lot of nostalgia for the handheld games, but these stood out to me at the time:

Advance 2 - Ice Paradise

Advance 3 - Chaos Angel

Rush - Dead Line

Rush Adventure - Coral Cave

I'm sure the last 3 levels will probably be from Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Rush, and Sonic Colors, due to those being some of the biggest Sonic games to hit the Nintendo. Myself, I'm hoping we see either Metal Harbor or Pyramid Cave, Water Palace or Altitude Limit, and Asteroid Coaster, but we'll see what happens tongue.png

Hmm... Emerald Coast in the 3DS. That can't be right. What other GHZ beach stages are there in the handheld games?

Welcome aboard, Neo Green Hill Zone. Is that a safe conclusion? NGHZ is gonna be less of a GHZ clone AND help represent a darn good stage that didn't make the cut. With Whales. In 3D. No complaints, thats for sure!

Oh, sorry. I thought it was just gonna be handheld stages in the 3DS version save for the Classic Era, but if that hasn't been confirmed, then my post makes no sense.

I'd love to see Toy Kingdom Zone from Sonic Advance 3. I think it's the most unique Zone of the three Advance games and would give some much needed diversity to the Sonic Generations line-up.

As much as I would love to see this game comprised entirely out of levels from Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Rivals, and Sonic Rush Adventure (and to a lesser extent, Sonic Jump - dohoho), it looks like we're only going to get a single representative from the Advance and Rush series, a Colors stage, three stages from the classic trilogy, and some mystery seventh stage of sorts. Unless we get two Advance series and Rush series levels, and no Colors rep. Or perhaps a single Advance, Rush, Rivals, and Colors rep? I don't even know.

So far the roster appears to be:

Sonic the Hedgehog - Green Hill

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Casino Night

Sonic & Knuckles - Mushroom Hill

Sonic Advance - Neo Green Hill

???

???

???

I'd like to see Pirates' Island, Mystic Haunt, and Tropical Resort in those last three stage spaces, myself. They're wonderfully unique in design, and all played an important story role in the games they were included in.

Assuming that this version will also have rival battles, I'd love to see...

Sonic & Knuckles - Hidden Palace - vs. Knuckles

Sonic Rush - Dead Line - vs. Blaze

Sonic Rivals - Crystal Mountain - vs. Silver

Or, seeing as a proper GBA representation is needed, perhaps a vs. Emerl fight in a recreated Sonic Battle stage? It would be either him or Cream representing that era in a rival battle, and I don't think it would be Cream. I suppose G-merl or Mecha Knuckles might fit the ticket, but they've never been playable...

Colors is in HD ver. So I doubt it will make it in. Oh and

Silver is in HD ver. Too so I doubt he will be there.

Most iconic Rivals are covered by HD ver. But I would love to see Blaze and G-Mel as bosses. Knux? Maybe but not likely.

I still see that "NGHZ" as Emerald Coast, I mean it could be any, but its EXACTLY like Emerald coast, it could also be Wave Ocean for all we know. I would love to see some advance stages, but I bet were not getting any. So for me its:

-Green Hill Zone (Sonic 1)

-Casino Night Zone (Sonic 2 )

-Mushroom Hill Zone (Sonic 3&K )

-Emerald Coast (Sonic Adventure)

-Adventure 2 stage

-Heroes stage

-Advance stage as a bonus maybe ......otherwise Colors stage IMO

Seeing a Rivals was never released in Japan, and for a modern game is rather obscure, I'll bet there aren't any levels from it.

That actually doesn't matter since Iizuka was rather involved in Rivals, but yeah you're right I don't think we'll see any Levels from that.

Even if they're not doing the Advance Trilogy, I'm still expecting it to focus a bit on the Nintendo titles and  SADX/SA2B were huge successes on the Gamecube. I'm willing to bet that the final level roster will be this:

Green Hill (Sonic 1)

Casino Night (Sonic 2)

Mushroom Hill (Sonic&Knuckles)

Emerald Coast (SADX)

Metal Harbor (SA2B)

Water Palace (Sonic Rush)

Night Palace (Sonic and the Secret Rings)

Night Palace (Sonic and the Secret Rings)

I doubt that we'll see anything from either of the storybook games, but I definitely couldn't argue with Night Palace if it made it in somehow. It was definitely my favourite level from Secret Rings, at least in terms of the stuff that a Generations version would be carrying over, and one of the better final levels in the franchise's history.

It'd make me sad to see Rush Adventure get no representation, though, since it's one of my favourite games in the series and its level tropes are a hell of a lot more interesting than any of the ones in the first Rush. If it's Rush Adventure and not Colours DS (for some reason) that gets the final spot, Sky Babylon would probably be the best choice. Or would that be too similar to Sky Sanctuary in the HD versions? I can't think of anything else that would really fit... SRA's levels are all great, but none of them are very climactic.

@Octarine, Only reason I'm expecting a Secret Rings stage is because of the large timeline that appeared outside the E3 booth, which featured Rush but not Rush Adventure and included Secret Rings but not Black Knight. I can't think of any reason to leave these sequels off the timeline unless they're not being included in Generations but the originals are.

Maybe Rush and Secret Rings were on the timeline because they were notable for being the first Sonic games on the DS and Wii respectively?

Honestly, I'd be happy with any level from Sonic and the Secret Rings, besides Dino Jungle and Levitated Ruin. I guess my personal picks would be Sand Oasis and Night Palace. Though I'd rather have them be in the PS3 version.

It's possible, but then why wasn't Sonic Advance included? Every game on the E3 timeline has a level in Sonic Generations except Rush and Secret Rings. Since we've got an SA stage that almost certainly means an SA2 stage is next. Conveniently, that leaves two stages from unknown games left to be revealed and two games left on the timeline that don't have stages in Generations...yet.

I'd be okay with a Secret Rings stage because it would almost have to be entirely played different than it was in Secret Rings. It would be a very unique way to re-imagining a stage.

Also Big should totally make a cameo in the background of it.

I have a strong feeling night palace will be the secret rings stage. It will be a perfect choice for a last stage.

As for the big cameo, I think we may see him fishing in the background of emerald coast or seaside hill in the console version. But it would be awesome if they brought back the cutscene cameos from SA2. lol

Well, I was just sayin' because he made all those strange cameos in Secret Rings, it wouldn't be out of place in a Secret Rings stage. Regardless, I love Big and would love to see him get at least a small cameo.
