3DS Stages

I can't believe these are the 5/6 stages so far.

There are 7 stages. Not 6, 7. Just throwing that out there. :U

Anyway, this leaves room for a Rush stage and hopefully a Secret Rings stage. If, not, Tropical Resort it is... *sigh*

Green Hill: It couldn't not be in.

Casino Night: Excellent choice next to Chemical Plant

Mushroom Hill: Like, three people asked for this. I think it was a knee jerk reaction to that fan vid

Emerald Coast: As far as the 3DS version is concerned, it's a realistic GHZ. Nice stage, certainly better choices available though. Sky Deck? Lost World? Twinkle Park?

Radical Highway: No. Very similar to Speed Highway from the console version, and not a Sonic stage. sad.png

I wonder if the big amount of console levels have to do with the fact that Iizuka doesn't believe any of the Advance games matter. There are 2 Rush titles, and supposedly 2 level spots left.

Not... that I'm saying anything that wasn't already obvious, but still worth noting every once and a while, I think.

Radical Highway = Cool.

Pretty much every other speed stage in SA2 = Cooler.

I was really hoping for Pyramid Cave in either the console or handheld version. City Escape on consoles is understandable, but 3DS Radical Highway just seems like a stupid choice, especially since Sonic WASN'T EVEN IN IT.

While I'm ranting, I'd say Mushroom Hill was the worst possible choice for S3&K representation. It's just a forest. I'm disappointed at the lack of Lava Reef or Flying Battery.

I'm sold on the console version, but Sega really needs to impress me in the next month for me to get the 3DS version.

Radical Highway? Really, SEGA? You ditched Metal Harbor in favor of a stage that Sonic wasn't even in?!

...

W.T.F?!

Isn't Sonic playable in Radical Highway in multiplayer mode? :\

Why so negative about Radical Highway? sure Metal Harbor would be nice but Radical Highway is still pretty sweet IMO.

Ill post this here since it would have no use to make a new topic about it. About the stages Ill put the console version stages vs the handeld stages, and Im not talking about the actual stages because we know HD version is so much better, Im talking about the actual design of the stage, the actual (classic) stage and how it affects the stage balance :) Heres my thoughts:

-GHZ vs GHZ : Same so tied

-Chemical Plant vs Casino Night Zone: Hnghh this one is a close one, I like Casino Night better since you know its an awesome night casino stage and adds a lot to the variety, Chemical Plant comes very close though.

-Sky Sanctuary vs Mushroom Hill Zone: I love both stages, Sky sanctuary is a better (classic stage) IMO, but Mushroom hill looks so gorgeous and its very different from GHZ, since its more of a jungle, fungi filled stage so I think Ill still go with Sky Sanctuary.

-Speed Highway vs Emerald Coast: Definitely Speed Highway for me, sure for variation its yet another city stage, but it was my fav stage, I had such a blast, from a night scene, cops (well badniks) chasing you, to the epic run in the building bit, helicopter and the town like bit with fountain and all. Not that EC is bad, Id rather have that over Seaside Hill / Ocean Palace, its not a GHZ clone either, since GHZ features no sand, while this ones got an hotel portion, beach, decks, jungle like bit, giant waterfall, whale, dolphins and all x3

-City Escape vs Radical Highway : To be honest I would rather have Metal Harbor in it, but I still like both, I know Shadow was in RH but its still an epic stage, so much that it even represents Sonics world in one of the few dream events of M&S I think this is mostly tied but I have to say grinding on freaking San Franciscos Golden Bridge (ok it resembles it) on the night is slightly epic-er.

So... whats your opinion? IMO Handheld version is more balanced but the console version stages are obviously much better.

Agreed. I'm cool with the two Genesis variations, but they could've done a much better choice with stage selections for the Sonic Adventure series. Lost World, Sky Deck or Final Egg would've had me sold.

And as much as I like Radical Highway as a stage... yeesh, bit of a stretch, SonicTeam? I mean, I get it, it was fairly popular, but that stage was exclusive to Shadow in the story mode campaign. There were so many other options, so many varying stages for Sonic - they had 5 other choices to go with [Metal Harbor, Green Forest, Pyramid Cave, Crazy Gadget (would've been AMAZING) and Final Rush (though it's being pseudo-represented in the home consoles, so I'll let that last one slide).

I wonder if the big amount of console levels have to do with the fact that Iizuka doesn't believe any of the Advance games matter. There are 2 Rush titles, and supposedly 2 level spots left.

There are so many excellent moments in the Advance series... if any of it is left out, then I'll be greatly disappointed.

I still think Radical Highway is a much more interesting choice then Mushroom Hill Zone. I literally would have taken almost any other zone from S3&K over that.

I just can't get the idea of Sonic grinding down that first rail and in Radical Highway instead of Shadow it doesn't make sense since he never went through that level =/ Personally If I was choosing the SA2 level for the Generations 3DS I would off gone with Metal Harbor or Crazy Gadget instead of Radical Highway for Generations 3DS even though I like Radical Highway.

I can. Mostly because I've done it in Multiplayer.

And I'm doing it with Sonic in 1-player via AR :P

A NiGHTS reference... on the 3DS version!?

I'm not buying a 3DS SEGA.. It doesn't seem that there'll be a Classic Amy or Knuckles, but please have in a NiGHTS reference on the HD version.

Otherwise, this still looks like a solid game, and if my friend ends up getting this game, I'm hoping I'll get to beat it at some point.

I'm in shock to this stage choice as well.

I was expecting Final Rush, Pyramid Cave, and god-damn Crazy Gadget personally, but Radical Highway was just unexpected.

At least with the console choices, they gave the stages elements of others like Seaside Hill having Hydrocity/Aquatic Ruins elements and such, but Emerald Coast is just a way odd choice as well as Radical Highway. They ain't really getting too creative with the 3DS stages as far as I've seen.

You'd think with Dimps doing this game, they focus more on the Game Gear, Advance and Rush games, but nooooooooooooooooooooo.

I'm pretty sure Sonic Team chose the level selection for both versions. And I'm sure they chose Radical Highway, because City Escape and Radical Highway WERE SA2. They were so iconic and popular stages that Sonic and Shadow (also just Adventure) fans alike consider them to be some of the best stages in SA2, even today.

However, it might've been up to Dimps with -how- they chose to reinvent each stage. Not sure on that one. All I know is that Sonic Team have shown a lot more creativity and quality with it, in my opinion.

HEY GUYS, GUYS

I'VE COME TO A REVELATION

YOU KNOW HOW SA2 ORIGINALLY WAS TO HAVE ONLY SONIC, KNUCKLES, AND EGGMAN?

THAT MEANS

WE WERE WRONG ALL ALONG

RADICAL HIGHWAY IS A SONIC STAGE

If they were willing to consider non-Sonic stages in the first place, why not go for maximum zany points and use Pumpkin Hill or something? C'mon, who wouldn't want to hear some classic-remixed Knuckles rap?

...more realistically, I'd probably have chosen Pyramid Cave myself. I love its music to death, and the 3DS version is severely lacking in ruins stages. Metal Harbour wouldn't be bad either, especially if it was combined with some Huge Crisis elements to give the handheld games a little love. Actually, maybe Huge Crisis being picked for a later level is the reason why they didn't use Metal Harbour. Hm.

Copy-pasted from the previews topic:

I dont think it will be needed. Just some Green Hill screenshots. Its barely on one page. But there is one REALLY INTERESTING THING!

I actually mailed them for source. They claim that 3DS ver. Will have levels from both Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure but not Advances. I asked them for source via e-mail. They said it was said by some SEGA employee on TGS. I dont think its legit but I can belive it.

You do know there are only two levels left, right? And two Rush game. It fits. The only thing going against this is the Tropical Resort remix and even that isn't totally solid proof.

The moment we knew (Well, and confirmed) Emerald Coast it was clear the Advance stages weren't getting in sadly.

The US/EU Slot has 8 slots. And it defiently is not the special stage, seeing as that had screenshots on the site already. Before you bring up things like Sky Sanctuary, those didn't have viewable screenshots and were not on the site. So maybe, there is actually an 8th stage that was added later in development. The level select screen supports this, because I am sure that the remaining 3 slots will hold all rivals, all bosses, and the rumoured final stage as well as the final boss, respectively.

The HD version had 10 slots and we know there are only 9 levels in that. The last one is probably the Time Eater's "level". It's been said again and again that the 3DS version will have 7 levels.

Last time I checked it was 9. Huh.
