Sonic Generations on PC [Officially Confirmed - Page 7]

Recommended Posts

I know it has been confirmed several times from retailers and even sega themselves (even though they don't want to admit it) but I have in fact, managed to preorder the game from my local game station store! I'm a big PC gamer and wanted a solid confirmation that the port was coming out so I decided there was no harm in trying so I asked and three of the workers there were able to confirm it was coming out and showed me their PC release charter as proof but they also managed to inform me on a few important things:

This port is STEAMPLAY compatible so there will be achievements and cloud syncing of save files, but this also means this version WILL in fact get DLC since steam supports it and they told me I would be getting the casino nights DLC with my preorder!

I was so relieved to hear all this from a reliable source as well as managing to get a free preorder with no deposit to pay since I had a VIP membership card.

A lot of people are interested in the PC version as I've seen and they've all had questions regarding DLC and other things and I'm happy I can be the bearer of the good news.

P.s. I would be able to upload a picture of my receipt for those who want solid proof but I'm on my iPad right now so i couldn't upload a pic.

Didn't you ask for the requirements?

inb4 not working on GeForce 6200.

FUUUUUUUUUU

I didn't ask since I have a pretty high end set up, sorry for not asking, lol.

Personally I think the requirements would be pretty low since sega have a tendency to support lower end machines when it comes to Sonic games. (Sonic and Sega All-star Racing, Sonic Riders, Sonic adventure DX and Heroes etc)

Good to hear I could help! I hope these confirmations get some mention on the main page, as it seems important enough and people are really asking around for more news on this port and no one seems to know a lot about it..

Awesome! I will definitely get the PC version :D

Have they maybe told you if it's Mac-compatible as well?

I'm hoping it does too as a lot of steamplay games support Mac and I my self have a Mac mini as a media centre in my living room and gets more use than the xbox.

Don't xbox 360 preorders get some free avatar items as well as the casino nights DLC? I'm hoping we get some sort of hats and items for Team fortress 2 as a lot of other steamplay games do (Sonic hat for scout and egg man hat for heavy would be EPIC!)

That's good to hear. Maybe this indicates SEGA are going to officially unveil this version soon.

It doesn't seem to be on their website yet and GAME has hidden away their listing for the PC version.

Off topic: But I just spotted GameStation is now listing that the game supports 1-2 players on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

I'm sure it was announced that there was some sort of co-op interaction in the hub world with the supporting characters or I might be mis-informed.

It won't work on my PC anyway. It's way too weak.

Still waiting for a confirmation.

Edited post so the image is inline with the text rather than an external link.

so y hasn't sega come out with a pc confirm already?

Because the console versions will obviously sell more copies, but I guess the PC version will have a little screen time at the end of any ads.

Great to here it's going to be on Steam, but I really hope it's available for OS X as well. I doubt a two year old Macbook would do well running this through Wine.

Haha glad to hear I contributed something good and worthwhile to a forum for once. :P

Still hoping on tf2 hats as a pre-order bonus! Heavy would be epic with an eggman 'stache!

No man. Engie mustache. It's so perfect. Heavy can have Knuckles gloves of death or something.

In any case. I might have to go out and buy a new USB controller. My old one hasn't been working perfect lately.

inb4 not working on GeForce 6200.

From what I can gather, It's an AGP (deprecated) or PCIe x8 (slow) graphics card with Shader Model 3.0 support (compliant with Microsoft DirectX 9.0c specification and OpenGL 2.0). It would be fine with something like Doom3, but it's certainly well below spec compared to what's in an Xbox360.

If you can even run it at all, it's going to need you to switch off nearly all graphical enhancements.

What about my computer?

AMD phenom™ II X4 Processor 3.20GHz

RAM 4 GB

Win 7 64bits

ATI Radeon HD 4250

I know my computer will run it, but i don't want to play at 800x600 resolution without any graphical enhancements

ATI Radeon HD 45250 does not exist. You may want to fix that typo so I know what that card actually is.

Regardless, the ATI Radeon HD 4000 series is capable of Shader Model 4 (DX11 and OpenGL4.1), which means it will run any current game at the moment. As for performance, not sure, as I don't normally deal with ATI cards. However the bandwidth/clock speeds compared to other cards suggests (don't take my word for it) you should be able to do ~1280x720 with most settings on high/full.

This is also keeping in mind that the Xbox360 version of Unleashed ran at 880x720, and PC's have slower bandwidth/memory access then consoles.
