What Video Game can you not stand?

What video game can you not stand? You can go from call of duty to Little Big Planet! Warn Gamers about the video games that rip you off!

To start I dislike the videogame systems, such as the 3ds, that gives old games for the new systems! If I wanted to play an out dated game, I would buy the outdated system. I buy the newer sytem for enhanced games. I know I probably will get a lot of hatred from this post, but everyone has their opinion.

Discuss on whether you agree with me or even share your own opinion!

As much as I can't stand barebones ports with cosmetic enhancements (especially when I own the originals, providing me zero incentive to get them again), re-releasing games on newer consoles is a good way to get more people to play them if they're not easily available or require going out of one's way just to buy an older console.

I'm fine with whatever genre-fad the video game community wants to muck around in, whether it's COD-style FPSs or Wii-styled casual games, and they hardly bother me.

What, you mean the eShop, or all the ports on it? Because while low effort ports are pretty bad, older games should be available in some form on newer systems, for the benefit of the people who played them in the past who want to do so again, and those who have never experienced them.

I don't like realistic sports games much. I personally find many of them boring and some of them just don't translate well to videogames, like golf (woo, aiming in a direction and timing a bar).

Mandatory co-op games. Yeah, there's usually a single player variant where the AI controls the second player, but since the AI is dumb as a brick and wastes ammo and health like candy I'd much rather go at it alone. All those years of hype for Resident Evil 5, and we end up with having to drag a robot dressed like a pretty girl all the way through as a game-spanning escort mission. Everybody loved RE4 except for the escort sections, so whose bright idea was to have the sequel composed of nothing but continuous uninterrupted escort mission?

Also getting reaaaally tired of cover-based shooters. Yes, Gears of War was a great game, now could the industry please stop doing it over every year?

I don't like craptastic sequels. I'm looking at you, Sonic 4 Episode 1! (Even though you were pretty decent and I liked playing you. And finding glitches.)

I also despise clones, unless they tend to either be equal to or outshine the original.

If I were to talk about every game I didn't enjoy this would go on forever.

I don't like most games that don't try anything new. I'm particularly looking at the FPS games out there. At least, the newer ones. They're just so "souless" and without anything unique. I wish that developers would stop saying "What's going to make us cash?" and START saying "What's going to put a smile on a fan's face?".

While the FPS fad is annoying on certain principles, there really aren't any specific titles that particularly grind my gears. I even like Call of Duty if for no other reason than the hilarity of watching competitive online play- "Mistakes were made" and all that good stuff.

A lot of the popular, free online indie games annoy me though as they generally fall into one of these three categories despite the wealth of potential offered by cheap development outside of the studio system: Simple yet pretentious adventure game about a broad concept, usually death, grinding time management game that misses the point on why Diner Dash was so successful, and tower defense. Not to say I don't play a lot of these anyways, but regardless I have to comb the Internet for something remotely refreshing. The online scene feels stagnate now.

Giant Sandbox games where you CAN'T place markers......Looking right at you Crackdown and your 800 orbs >.>

Modern FPS' : As a Halo fan, im not gonna deny it's became stale over the years, I started with Halo 2, didn't see where all the fanboyism came from till I played the 1st, then I understood, since then, they've all became okay, only ODST comes close to Combat Evolved for me, COD is just...*facepalm* Same goes to Battlefield/Medal of Honor, Crysis 2's Multiplayer was also horrible and a giant COD clone with added nanosuit powers, so to me, the Campaign was the strong point and had more focus, Thats what I feel modern FPS' need, more focus on campaigns instead of trying to focus on multiplayer (most of which dont stay popular for over a month)

Games that go too far: Best way to put this is with my experience of "Zombie Apocalypse" on XBLA, it was good at first, being a dual stick arcade shooter and zombies, what could go wrong? ....everything!!! Later on, the rounds start lasting longer and the Zombies start getting one-sided, being able to take you down indefinitely if they get near you and then a giant tumor-zombie-thing as a boss 2 or 3 times in the main campaign, which by the way, is 50 levels long.

And if your a completionist like me, you woulda had to do the "7 Days of Hell" mode, 7 levels seem okay? they'e longer, throwing every zombie they have at you lasting from 30 minutes to 45 minutes per round, sure, you get unlimited contimues but it becomes a chore quickly >.> took me so long to finish 7 Days of Hell due to how boring the game was.

Kingdom Hearts

One of the worst series of games that ever came out. I could go in depth about it but I rather not. In short however its just really a bad fanfic with Disney involved and it never gets good. CoM was one of the worst games I've ever played due to the card system.

Sonic Colors

Way to go Sega, being desperate just to be please everyone. Good job you've hit rock bottom. :P

Tie in Movie games

They're never good. Just another way to make money with a movie.

That's all I got for now. :P

Actually some of the older ones were pretty amazing, such as The Lion King and Aladdin. Some of the funnest platformers I've played on Genesis actually, <3.

As for me? Well it's sort of complicated. While I LOVE RPGs, I also HATE THEM. Basically anything with a level cap *which is everything*, since I have so much fun getting there, but once I hit it, it feels like there's nothing left worthwhile doing, XD.

Sports games. Anything Football, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and so on, they've just never grabbed me before. Maybe I'm ignorant, but each title they push out seems the exact same, save for an updated roster list of the real players and the year number on the box. I do love extreme sports games though, like the older Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Underground series, as well as stuff like Amped.

I think that might be it. I'm not really too picky, every game isn't going to please everyone. I'm glad we have such an abundance of genres so that everyone can find their own little thing to love, =3.

Games without soul.

You know what I'm talking about. Games like Call of Duty that focus on online multiplayer shenanigans rather than immersiveness and creativity and a deep soundtrack. These games have their audience but I can't stand them. I like my games when they give you a world you can immerse yourself in, a game with a real personality instead of murky realism with zero escapism.

Chrono Trigger is a game of wonderment, of creativity, of immense charm and emotion. Ocarina of Time is another one. NOT CoD. Why the hell such charmless shit be at the top of "Best Games Ever Made" lists is completely beyond me and I'm not alone.

Although I do enjoy Call of Duty, it's only in the competition online... That's a problem I see with A LOT of FPS, where the worlds, like you said, are lifeless and boring, and don't really have any escapism... (TF2 is not one of these) Although it looks like they MAY finally be fixing this problem with MW3. Maybe...

Also, I can NOT stand Minecraft... Sorry to any fans around, but to me it just bland, boring, and a waste of time...

Scott Pilgrim... I LOVE that game. What ever happened to all the games like this!? I mean, they're FINALLY making another Double Dragon, but that's it! D:<

Adding Spider Man 2 to the list of good movie games (though I like Ultimate better, with the slight snag of ELECTRO).

God of War. I don't really see how this game or its sequels innovate on anything. It's shit we've been doing since 1999.

I dislike games that end up becoming repetitive (Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity) or are half-assed/watered-down when you compare them to their predecessors/previous games in the franchise. Looking at you Sonic 4, Sonic Rider: Zero Gravity, and Frogger Returns. Sonic 4 I believe speaks for itself. The boards in SR:ZR take FOREVER to unlock, because they are priced so damn high. Gameplay elements I liked in the original (using air, boosting/attacking people you hit, the player/board having the speed/flight/power formation, etc.) are removed. And Frogger Returns is just as bad as Sonic 4. Only four stages (with only two of them remotely challenging, and one of them just leads to cheap deaths). Camera is tilted at a angle behind Frogger (at least in the single player version), instead of being top-down. Cheap last-gen graphics (honestly, I can see the Dreamcast pulling off such graphics). Limited multiplayer with NO online multiplayer or even leaderboards (did I mention this game came out in 2009?). And the only control scheme for the Wii version is the Wii Remote in it's vertical position. I hope that Frogger 3D gets a rerelease on the PSS, I have more fun with that game than Returns. And the new Frogger game for the 3DS isn't looking so hot either....

Eh, I'm done.

As Verte said, video games that lack creative depth, soul or at least some sort of detachment from reality.

Many video gaming fans who grew up in our generation simply think that gaming should become an extension of reality, when it was really concieved as another medium of fiction, and as such, another art form--like interactive literature, but taken to an entirely whole level. Its not like all literature is realistic, and since video games are pretty much just interactive literature pieces where you use a controller instead of flipping a book, why is it that people beg this art form to mimic reality, complete with brown, beige and grey colors which just emphasize the realism?

This whole fad of realistic video gaming was driven by a lack of imagination, and the energy that should be directed to that is just wasted on immersion--FPS's being one of them, and don't get me started on my views on war--unless the game is Portal, it looks awesome.

Sports games are also entirely useless--we can always go out and play them and if we're really serious, practice, so that we can be good at it and show off, or eventually go pro-sportsmanship.

I can't stand that cell shaded Prince of Persia game. Its so unbelievablely repetitive, and it features Nolan North doing the Nathan Drake voice for some reason.

It's funny because I'm on exactly the opposite end. I love both of those things for tons of reasons I couldn't be bothered to sit here and right an essay on at the moment.

Movie based games:

Mostly cheap cash ins with piss poor gameplay from movie hype.

Generic FPS games:

Drowing under boxes of them. The divine mandate seems to be that if it's a FPS in a real war setting then it's automatically better than "all that kiddy shit you waste time on" realistic my ass, if I could walk around a battlefield and be pelted by bullets only to recover as if nothing happened 10 seconds later, I could've won every IRL battle in history.

Sonic Adventure 2:

While it's much better than the likes of Heroes, Shadow, 06 and Black Knight, I cannot forgive it for the horrible Shooting and Treasure hunting levels that did nothing but butt-in and waste space by taking up over 2/3 of the game and greatly overshadowed the fun Speed levels (SA1 at least separated their stories) Unleashed is in the same boat but why am I SLIGHTLY more lenient on it? Because it doesn't have a legion of mindless fanboys constantly flaming you for even thinking about questioning SA2's so-called "undeniable perfection" and shoving prayers to Iizuka for SA3 down your throat.

Shovelware:

You already know

Metroid Other M

Sakamoto and Ninja really screwed the pooch badly on this one. I like my Samus noncomplacent and independent, thank you. Metroid Fusion was fine, but the primary complaints were its linearity and heavy dialogue, so why would you focus on making MORE of that? And don't even get me started on the controller.

de Blob

People seem to like this one and I can see the charm, but it is just WAY too tedious for me. I once started to doze off before completing a level, so I just stopped playing.

Oh, I forgot Other M.

Not going into the plot, which is another mess in and of itself, the gameplay is boring. The only method of dodging is tapping the D-Pad in random directions, enemies even have special attacks to make sure you don't try to dodge by jumping, enemy and boss encounters are reduced to running around and firing charge shots until they fall down and you can use a missile or jump on them for a QTE overblast. Plus, the game is very linear, so most powerups are right in your way, not that you need most of them since the game is so boringly easy.

Games that I don't like or care about is sports games, most mature rated games and FPS's. I don't care that the new crazed is some FPS game that had sold milions and millions of copies in it's first week, recieved glowing reviews and praise from gamers and critics and wins the GOTY reward. They don't appeal to me at all and I find them boring. I don't have anything against anyone who likes those types of games, though.
