Note my sarcasm. Also, note the numerous Chemical Plant elements IN Stardust Speedway, as well as proof that now, rival battles take place within certain levels. Yes, I agree, it's Stardust Speedway, it has the fucking overhead lights and road trumpets (or whatever the fuck they are), but it's also Chemical Plant. The buildings, skyline, and certain views of inside the level look just like it. AND now we see Metal Sonic racing Sonic in Casino Night for the 3DS version, which is Chemical Plant's replacement for the 3DS. Put 2 and 2 together.

Again, the 3DS version is not the HD version. They're doing quite a few things very differently. You shouldn't be comparing this.

SS and CP look somewhat similar, because in design they have small similarities, that's all. Personally, I think they differ enough to tell they're two completely seperate levels.

Technically the time eater pic does count as a leak. but its soo small its barely considered as one.

I meant with Chemical Plant this was no leak.

The 3DS has multiplayer races, remember?

The bottom screen even has <Name> vs <Another Name>, so thinking that the picture shows a rival battle is a bit of a jump in logic.

It says "Sonic VS. Metal Sonic".

I don't see it. Literally, I see nothing from Chemical Plant in the Metal Sonic pictures, beyond vague similarities that are just due to SS bad future and Chemical Plant being of a similar trope.

Rival battles take place within levels in the 3DS version. This does not, in any way, prove that they take place in levels in the console version.

I even left out the spotlights, Ferris Wheel, and a few other things.. just in that one picture.

The likenesses you're drawing to were all there back in the early 90's. You can't look at an ominous sky, buildings, and the like and say "They're one of the same."

The better question is, baring the fact that they announced the levels the same day (or that you want to trust the holy leak for not explicitly saying "Stardust Speedway", even though bosses will be fought at/in boss levels, so it would (does) say "Metal Sonic", and the fact that even in the early 90's, both levels had a dark sky (even though in these HD versions, again, it's different since they added the lightning that occurs only in Stardust Speedway... only in Stardust Speedway), buildings (which, again, are different, as the Stardust Speedway has the R.O.B.-like buildings, and Chemical Plant has the regular ones, and machines.)... what does that leave you with in support to "Stardust Speedway is part Chemical Plant somehow."?

The fact that Classic Sonic is in both? Even in the new trailer, at the end, the Death Egg Robo is fought in the same corridor that overlooks space, as he was in Sonic 2. Chances are, Perfect Chaos won't be fought in a "hybrid" of Seaside Hill, and Metal Sonic is fought solely in Stardust Speedway (again, even if he has to be accessed through a HUB elsewhere.)

And the fact that we see Metal Sonic racing in Sonic Generations 3DS is in no way support for the theory. It's already reduced in the number of levels, and it's not surprising at all that they cut corners. This argument bores me as it's so ... not an argument. So I retire.

But pertinent to the conversation: I was sad to have not found anything else on the Time Eater when I did last night. I thought that if I found his little character blip for the website that they'd have left in one of those full-body renders or something, but alas, it wasn't to be. I still say it looks like SatAM Robotnik fused with the Nega Wisp.

That....thing looks like the Egg Nega Wisp to an extent. Or Sonic's Frenzy form went separate from him and got a dye job. Or a Purple and Violet Wisp managed to elope and give birth to that

The 3DS version is looking pretty fun. I'm now sold. And yay, the've used the second special stage music from Heroes. That's one of my favorite tracks in the game.

We've seen very little of Classic Eggman, and Eggman himself is only depicted in his modern form on the site...

Perhaps Time Eater is a distorted form of Classic Eggman?

Okay where to start. Shadzter and that Haunter joke was FANTASTIC. As for the 3DS gameplay video, I can't say I'm sold on it. Hell it looks like a bland Classic sonic game and sort of half assed Sonic rush. But the special stage was decent I guess. I don't know, I just don't see the 3DS version comparing to the main version in anyways possible. Aside from the multiplayer. And even that will probably not be on par.

Now the time eater snippet someone snatched. What the hell? It's like the nega wisp, Mephilis and Perfect dark Gaia had a threesome. I really hope there is some explanation for it. Eggman created it. Or after Colours, something in that ship formed a dark entity. Eggy back up plan.

Unless it is the amalgamation of ALL of Sonic enemies. Because why would a time eating monster target Sonic unless it had a vendetta?

I think Sega knows they would never live down making Classic Eggman into the monster of the week versus giving him and his modern counterpart the final boss fight in some robots, hence why they're going to make it a monster. At least I hope so.

I'm slightly annoyed that only Sonic & Tails are getting any spotlight, again. And seeing how Sonic is going to be doing all of the work, I know Tails isn't going to do shit either. Ahh well.

Seems like Sega trying to take it a safe as possible still...in terms of characters on main consoles, but on handhelds they seem not to care as much.

Sonic and Tails gets the spotlight. Not that I am annoyed. Its aniversary game after all but for next game I want MOAR focus on other chars.

Now lets do a quick analysis of character profiles. Sonic profile basically explain how it all hapened. Metal profile says he is EGGMAN weapon-nothing new here.

We have EGGMAN profile but not Classic EGGMAN profile. Maybe Classic EGGMAN is more important than we think or we wont see him outside of mech battle at all.

So we have Main Characters, Bad Guys (EGGMAN and probably Time Eater) and... Rivals.

It may be coenciednce but can Rivals play more important role than we think too? We have to wait for Shadow and

Silver

profiles to say anything more on this issue. If they will do it like with Sonic profile we may get actuall explanation on their Modern Selves and their possible connection to this whole mess.
