Autocropped avatars?

Today I've just recently noticed that everytime I upload a image for my avatar, the site automatically crops it. Before, it just shrunk the size of the image and had cropping the image optional. Now the pictures have to be smaller than normal so that it doesn't automatiaclly crop it. And yeah, this happens to images that used to fit as well. It's kinda getting annoying. :/

I hate auto-cropping too. I can't get animated gifs to work as avatars (as this one used to animate). I've tried smaller, sprite sized gifs too, but nope no joy! I really hope this issue is fixed soon...
