What do you think about Tropical Resort + Classic Levels?

Tropical Resort = Graphical downgrade, Classic uses the same music as the original, level design is just as bland as the other levels. Looks terrible.

Classic levels = Homing Attack is mandatory, physics aren't effectively utilized in the levels they actually had to design. Three levels are carbon copies of the originals but with uglier graphics, the rest are Sonic 4 level designs. Looks terrible.

Eh, I like everything in the game, but opinons are opinons..

To be fair, most of the launch games were crap/ports. This game is not a port.

Should Shinobi/Mario be compared? They're different types of games and they're slow. Sonic Generations 3DS goes at a fast speed which means they need to make long levels. (Length wise, not necessarily time wise)

Edit: Fun fact - Dimps worked on one of those launch titles! SSF43D.

Yeah, can you imagine Mario or Link running through these levels? That would take forever cuz they're slower... this isn't a port because a port is the same game... but later made for a new system (Ocarina of Time 3D for example) This is a different version that is much different! Not to mention we should really just wait a little longer and give the 3DS version a chance!

Anyway, I do plan on getting a 3DS soon. Am I getting one because of Gen3DS? No. Seriously, dudes, there are other releases too if this one isn't worth a look at.

That said, I still plan on getting the 3DS version, despite the fact that I'd likely beat the main campaign in under 3 hours or so. But hey, there's still SM3DL, OoT3D, Star Fox and Mario Kart 7 on my list.

For some reason, i think it was meant to be that way. So that no one would complain about it being exactly the same as the HD version.

Nice to see how the Rivals turned out, and by the looks of it, they managed to have Silver keep up almost the same paste as Sonic just as he did in Rivals.

So Modern Casino Night uses the same music as the Casino Night pinball stage from the HD version. I'm guessing the remix was made for the DLC Pinball stage first, simply for how long it takes to loop.

Having now seen the gameplay videos from this version... I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

Yes, it's nowhere near as polished as the HD version. Yes, half the levels are copied and pasted from their source material. Yes, a lot of Modern Sonic's levels are just empty "boost to win" affairs. Yes, all the hardcore classic fans will bitch about Classic Sonic having a homing attack.

But do I give a damn about any of these things? No, I do not.

What I'm looking for from Generations 3DS is an easy pick up and play experience, where I can just zip through a level or two and have a blast doing so. Classic Sonic's got a decent amount of platforming going on, and Modern Sonic's high speed action may be shallow but it looks cathartic nevertheless. I'm really pleased with some of the level and boss choices in this version, and overall while it may not be an amazing game on par with what Sonic Team have produced, it does look like fun to me at least.

Maybe I just have bad taste in games. Who knows. But I for one will enjoy this version, regardless of its flaws.

That and I'd buy it just for the Tropical Resort remix. Oh god was that schmexy.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Course my only beef is that they are FORCING you to use Classic's Homing Attack at certain parts instead of good ol traditional badnik hopping.

My, The Water Palace looks excellent, especially the part with the giant Egg Flapper. And the Time Eater.....actually looks awsome and had alot more thought put into then what the lazy ass job they did in the Console version, as most of us already prediced!

I won't grab the game through, my eyes are on Mario Kart 7 and several other games right now

Things that I think suck about the game:

-The level design in Radical Highway looks absolutely LAZY. There's no indication that it was even designed for Classic Sonic; hell, stuff like the jump pads and swinging polls are MODERN Sonic gimmicks.

-The music for Classic and Modern Water Palace sounds damn near identical. Nice one, guys. While I'm at it, Classic Tropical Resort sounds identical to the original track. Hell, Modern Casino Night is the fucking remix from the pinball minigame!! LAZY.

-The levels look absolutely short as all hell. Emerald Coast looks like it can be beat in a minute and a half. And not even in a speed-run; I'm talking of during a NORMAL run!

-Mushroom Hill is a piece of shit level, and how it's handled represents this. It's also a terrible choice to represent Sonic and Knuckles; Flying Battery would have been so much better. While I'm at it, Egg Emperor is a really odd choice for a boss for the "handheld era"; the F-Zone boss from Sonic Rush would have been much better.

-Of course, why the hell does Classic Sonic have the homing attack, and why is it damn-near mandatory for progressing through later levels? Also, Modern Eggman's on the signpost. Dimps, you assholes.

Beyond that, I don't think it looks too bad; there's lots of branching paths in the levels, the music that actually is remixed sounds excellent, all that jazz. Then again, I have yet to PLAY it, so I'll pass judgment then. AS SHOULD ALL OF YOU.
