I can't wait to play the 3DS version now. I'm hoping I'll be able to spare some money for it when I'm paid December 2nd. I have that day and the Saturday off too biggrin.png I'll save my final judgement until I actually play it, but so far I think it looks like more fun that the console and PC version. I do really like the HD version, but as much as Modern Sonic's gameplay is improved, I'm still not fond of that gameplay style, as you all know.

Doctor MK's post has explained a lot of how I feel.

Yes, because running right in a straight line is so much better than a brilliant blend of 2D and 3D gameplay.

Even Modern Green Hill on the HD version is more open than any stage on the 3DS version.

@Shadz and Doctor MK: ...are we the only three who don't see that big a problem with the 3DS version?

@lolwut: New member blood?

All tracks are remixed. Some remixes are very subtle (like Modern Mushroom Hill, which only has a higher quality bass) but in the end they're all different from the originals.

Not sure about Classic Tropical Resort though. And I have yet to hear Modern Radical Highway and Classic Casino Night.

Personally, I see no point for the Rush style to exist anymore.

Sonic Rush was good for its time. Unleashed built upon it. Everything Rush can do, at this point, has been done just as good if not better in the 3D games. Boost? Unleashed did it. Homing attack? Unleashed did it better. Rolling? Can't do it anymore anyway, looking at Colors DS onwards. Tricks? Generations did it. That's it. In the 3D games, we now have the quick step, the drift, actual platforming, exciting bosses, substantial 3D gameplay, longer levels, etc.

The 3DS is more powerful than the Dreamcast. If the Dreamcast can pull off good 3D gameplay and graphics that don't hurt my eyes, this should too. The fact that Emerald Coast looks better in Sonic Adventure is proof enough that this game is incredibly fucking lazy.

Either that or we've all been possessed by some kind of satanic demon that forces us into thinking supposedly crappy games might actually be half-decent.

I shall gloriously call this the nega-'06 syndrome.

Aw man.... not another fight on whether this game sucks or not... it's half and half people! That's not just my opinion, that's what the public has shown! Can't we all get along and allow each other to think what they may on the 3DS Sonic Generations?

Despite how bad the 3DS version is looking (will get it...much later) there's one thing that we can all agree on for a fact:

The fact that it doesn't looking like a homing shot on the 3DS version, that's the biggest positive =)

I think we're just willing to look at a game properly and assess it beyond the developers logo. I've got no problem with people hating the Rush gameplay style or anything about this game, but I think it's silly to exaggerate things like straight lines like they're the whole of every Act.

There is a lot more than straight lines. There are loops, hills, stage gimmicks, enemy chains and platforming sections. If you don't like this version, that's absolutely fine, but you can't deny there is more than straight lines in the game.

My god that Silver battle looks dull. I'll take my giant Katamari of death over some boring race in an unfitting stage any day thank you very much

Damn. I'd rather play the battle with Silver on Sonic '06 than the 3DS version of Generations.

Yeah, after watching all the videos that Thigolf has posted (thanks, by the way), I can safely say that this version... eh, it just isn't my cup of tea. Everything just looks so unexciting and basic to me, even with it being a pick-up-and-play game. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that this version has over the console version is the final battle, and it's still something of a bore.

I don't understand, Shadzter. You don't like the current Modern gameplay but you're completely fine with this boring, uninspiring shit? It's so empty.

I personally don't think it's that empty. It could be much better and isn't as good as I hoped it would be, but it still looks pretty fun. I've always enjoyed 2D Sonic games, and I'll no doubt enjoy this one. You can't compare the Modern gameplay style in the console version to the 3DS one, as one has 3D sections, while the other doesn't. I don't like the Modern gameplay of the console version, Unleashed and Colours because the 3D controls aren't great and the gameplay style feels more like a car racing game.

EDIT: Damn typos. XD
