Generations 3DS Chat - Oh look guys new rules (p.58)

I think we're just willing to look at a game properly and assess it beyond the developers logo. I've got no problem with people hating the Rush gameplay style or anything about this game, but I think it's silly to exaggerate things like straight lines like they're the whole of every Act.

Hey, whoa. That was uncalled for. Some people here are being far more aggressive than necessary, but suggesting we aren't even attempting to judge the game on its own merits is absolutely self-righteous. You yourself said it: "opinions".

Come on Shadzter, I know you're better than that. :/

...which is ironic when you think about it really, seeing as this game contains more homing attacks than its HD counterpart tongue.png

And speaking of the homing attack, I think it's a cool ability to have in this version for Classic Sonic. Helps to bridge the gap a bit between the classic trilogy and Sonic 4.

/controversial

Yeah! Precisely!

Not to mention in the ending for the console he tries to use a homing attack! So, is that how he learns it in Sonic 4? I would think so! Instead of him learning that move in Sonic Adventure, his future self trained him to use it one video game timeline earlier! :D

I'm not trying to be aggressive, and I apologize if that did come across like it. I'm not saying all people aren't judging it properly. Most people here are judging it properly whether their opinion is negative or positive. But some people are just exaggerating and claiming the whole game consists of stuff that it doesn't.

No seriously they made Silver faster..........I'm alright with this. Now we can make new nice playstyle for him.

So let's see here.

Post-Genesis era classic levels are bland as hell and make any level from Sonic 4 look credible.

Modern levels look even more bland, straight line highways in the sky. I think Water Palace is another copy/pasta? Casino Night looks sort of ok but not by much.

Game looks pretty damn buggy, graphics are a joke.

Pros: I really like...the soundtrack? Could it be that Sonic 06 had more effort put into it than this? How much development time was given for this game, 3 months? What happened to Sonic Advance level design?

To quote SONIC1SONIC:

"Dimps has got to get their fucking SHIT together, or I'm gonna go to their place, throw a brick in the window and blow it up!!!"

(not really)

So I just saw the

Biolizard fight.

My reaction? I'm impressed. No, really. I'm legitimately impressed.

They managed to take a fight that I thought would require changing due to the switch from the third to second dimension, and make it exactly the fucking same. It's literally the exact same fight. That's a whole new level of laziness. Kudos, DIMPS. You're laziness is so extreme that it's impressive.

And sadly, this version will be more loved by critics than the console one.

To be honest, arguments from both sides are getting ridiculous. d:

There's more to the actual levels (the rival battles though...) than straight lines, yes. It's just what is there doesn't interest us in the slightest. It isn't a straight line, but to me and many others, it might as well be, you know?

My dislike for Generations 3DS has nothing to do with the fact that Dimps is handling it. I've enjoyed previous Dimps games...the Advance games were decent and Sonic Rush is one of my favorite Sonic games ever.

The problem is that I look at this game and I see little to be excited for. Classic Sonic still doesn't look like he handles as well as in the console version (although I'll reserve judgement on this until I get my own hands on it). The Classic layouts for Green Hill, Casino Night, and Mushroom Hill are carbon copies of the original. The Rival fights aren't given unique environments like the console version. The level list is nothing for me to be happy about. And worst of all, every Modern stage looks absolutely underwhelming.

That's probably the biggest complaint; the Rush style that I once enjoyed seems to be more simplified than ever before. I've seen M. Green Hill, M. Mushroom Hill, M. Emerald Coast, and M. Modern Tropical Resort, but they just don't look fun to me.

I wanted to love Generations 3DS, but I have no reason to based on everything I've seen.

I can't speak for others, but I don't see Dimps' involvement as reflecting poorly on this game. On the contrary, I think that this game reflects poorly on Dimps.

I personally don't think it's that empty. It could be much better and isn't as good as I hoped it would be, but it still looks pretty fun. I've always enjoyed 2D Sonic games, and I'll no doubt enjoy this one. You can't compare the Modern gameplay style in the console version to the 3DS one, as one has 3D sections, while the other doesn't. I don't like the Modern gameplay of the console version, Unleashed and Colours because the 3D controls aren't great and the gameplay style feels more like a car racing game.

EDIT: Damn typos. XD

So you prefer holding right on the D-Pad over Generations' 3D gameplay?

Do I really need to repeat myself about there being more than just what you're stating? You're being unfair in this discussion.

I'd like to say I would probably like this. Sure I won't play it till I get a 3DS (probably a few months away) but I think it could be quite fun. I mean, there's only been little niggles with Dimps games I played in the past (Advance 2's horrid way of getting into Special Stages, My Advance 3 glitching so i couldn't get the final boss, I dislike Rush's music and the Nega Mother Wisp) and most of those are due to preference. I'm willing to give it a shot. Besides, being a massive fan of Adventure 2 I want a smile to be put on my face with Biolizard and radical Highway.

Why da fuck Silver is running huh.png ?

Guys Silver has speed. Confirmed by DIIIIMMMMMMPSSSS!!!

Actually, it was confirmed in Rivals followed by Generations HD, which then led to the 3ds version.

So yeah, 06 has left the building.rolleyes.gif

Hell, Modern Casino Night is the fucking remix from the pinball minigame!! LAZY.

They've remade a bunch of tracks for both games, twice, and because they re-use one track in the game it's lazy? Damn son...

Um, much as I loathe this version of the I don't know why anyone would call using the Casino Night Pinball game music lazy. Chances are the music was made with the 3DS version in mind seeing as that's the version was Casino Night actually appears. Pick out the flaws and hate all you want but at least be fair. Fucking hell...

Ehh, the 3rd version... I just can't like as much as the console version. The effort in this one just seems so lazy.not because it's made by dumps. That has nothing to do with it. The bosses, and The music also seems like a disappointment. I'll still end up getting it but not for awhile. $40 just doesn't seem like a good Price. The hd version just seems better (aside from the final boss and The rolling). I'll base my final thoughts on It when I pick it up though. As of now though it. Just looks like a half assed attempt at celebrating sonics 20th.

Colours DS is perhaps my favourite Sonic game so I was really hopeful for this. Having watched a few vids I'm not so sure. It just smacks of laziness on the devs part. If I had to guess, I'd say it was rushed out of the gate for the Anniversary. My other problem - homing attack for Classic. Let's have a bit of consistency please SEGA? We're celebrating Sonic's history, not mashing it together so that you essentially play the same level twice, once with rush ability, once without...

You know what else I miss? Dual screens. I know the 3DS doesn't lend itself to that but it was one of the reasons that the Rush series was so special.

Good. Chances of him being playable are greatly rising because of this.

Neon, what the hell? You have been so condescending toward Shadzter for no reason. Lay off the attitude. Also:

You wanted bosses with more hits and difficult, well Sega gave it to you...in the 3DS version. U mad?

The rivals look like something you'd see in Sonic Rivals, so we can say yet another handheld reference.

Oh, and the same way we have the "Fuck Count", we can also have the "Highway in the Sky Count", I've seen that several times on my way through the last page XD

I don't see what was wrong with Shadzter's post so I think you're overreacting.

My patience with this thread is wearing thin, I'd be more than happy to lock this topic for a while if this is how you kids want to play.

I dont doubt it. If "Dimensions Rumor" is true I'll stop playing Sonic games. I mean if its true we can quote Shadow from ShTH ending. "Goodbye Forever...... Other playables". I mean ST dont allow other playables just for the sake of it, giving Sonic their abilities. If its true then its over.

Hey guys, let's stop complaining about each other and talk about the actual game!

Anyway, overall, it looks pretty fun, I'm delightfully surprised that Water Palace actually made it in and the DS version of Colors is at least referenced through Classic's level design, not to mention how delighted I am to see Biolizard (though he is quite similar to the original) and Egg Emperor (Dat desperation mode~). I honestly can see plenty of the flaws in the game, yet I still feel it'll be a pretty fun game to pass time with, plus those missions will probably keep me busy for a while if they're anything like the ones in Rush Adventure. So can't wait to get this for Christmas (Along with a few other 3DS titles)
