Generations 3DS Chat - Oh look guys new rules (p.58)

Something I was wondering.

Back when I played the Gamefest demo, there was a big problem with Mushroom hill, sometimes if I were travelling at high speed, the level wouldn't load, this mainly occured during the loop/half loop sections, the paths would be invisible.

Has this been fixed or does it still happen? I assume it's been fixed but... well... I'm just wondering since it was a big issue for that one stage when I last played it.

Hmm. a Sonic anniversary game that majority of the fans hate because it looks rushed and lazy. That's never happened before. tongue.png

As for this game, I'm just gonna say what I said for Sonic 4.

It's not that we hate it, it's just that they could've done alot better. :/

In the end I'll probably buy this later when it's on sale, play it, have fun with it, and then never play it again, until the sequel comes out... In 20 years.

Seeing as my computer lacks sound and I can't check for myself, is the drowning music present in underwater sections of Water Palace?

About the rivals, they're supposed to be races. It takes a similar nod to Sonic CD's Metal Sonic boss by putting obstacles in the way. (Silver throwing things at you, pathways that take longer then normal, etc)

I would have preferred if they used the Blaze though. Considering she is almost as fast as Sonic, has boost, and can use her boots to take alternative routes to have an edge on Sonic. Hell, throw in Blaze's tornadoes somewhere.

The 3ds version looks like a pile of shit to me. I thought it was going to be good, but I see the same DIMPS "deseases" similar to sonic 4's. Homing attack and the auto spin after speed boosters have thrown me off. The level design is also very uninspired.

A pro compared to the console/pc version is the spindash, but that's kind of it. I'm not a fan of the HD physics, but they're solid at least. The controls and physics for the 3ds version try to be good but fail.

Hope for s4e2 (if made by dimps) has just been lost.

So let's do a musical recap here:

  • Classic Tropical Resort and Emerald Coast are the TGS versions, which don't sound classic at all...

  • Modern Casino Night is the DLC music which doesn't sound "Modern" in the slightest

  • Classic Water Palace and the "Modern Boss" are virtually unchanged from the originals

Oh well, a few bad apples won't spoil this bunch. Still buying that OST...if it comes out on Itunes that is.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the autospin? It would suck if Dimps just put you through a booster with you running into the enemy.

Aw man.... not another fight on whether this game sucks or not... it's half and half people! That's not just my opinion, that's what the public has shown! Can't we all get along and allow each other to think what they may on the 3DS Sonic Generations?

You seriously never been around this fanbase have you?

I've come to the conclusion that I just can't be pleased. While I'm glad the final boss in the 3DS version isn't just this massive annoying mess of a boss, it still feels like somethings missing from it.

Oh i know what its missing...

I hate it.

I concur with this. This game is downright insulting, in my opinion.

I'd like to buy this second hand, for the simple reason of not supporting it. I've supported the decent version of Generations enough- two CEs and one regular.

More noble than me. I was planning on pirating it, getting bored by Mushroom Hill, and deleting it from my hard drive. Same thing happened with Colors DS.

Most of you are crying and complaining about the Silver boss being a straight line.

I'm sorry, but; What the Hell do you call this?

That KINDA looks like a straight line, that NOBODY complained about. -_-

Great, now we're getting people saying they're purposely going to pirate it/buy it used so they don't support it.

But I don't think they realize the profits go toward the same place, Sega.

Edit: Also, the Rivals were straight lines in Generations too. In fact, I think MORE goes on in the 3DS version.

Well, at least that looks somewhat fun...I can't tell what's happening in the Silver fight at all. Then again, I shouldn't pass judgement yet.

That's a boss fight. Silver's level is litteraly running right until you hit the goal ring. He doesn't even appear to be attacking you or fighting you in anyway. He throws something in your general direction once.

I don't get Modern Tropical Resort's music. It's just like the original, only with a new synth I don't like and it's faster than the original. Sounds like a boost/speed shoes track. It's a kinda lazy remix. The soundtrack of the game being sub-par is odd. You can't pin that on Dimps cause they never do the soundtracks. It's SEGA's in house team, but if they churned out this stuff then it's obvious how much effort they put in.

If I don't like a game, and especially if I don't like the development of it I'm not going to let them have my money. Ergo, I'll still get it legally but won't let them have any of my money. The stores make about 12% profit on new games, and 100% profit on pre-owned ones. The publishers make nothing on pre-owned sales.

Also what you said about the rival battles is an utter lie and such terrible denial I can't stop laughing.

Hell the rival bosses are more like a homage to sonic rivals if anything. And that Tropical Resort 3DS remix is fucking awesome why the hell is anybody complaining about it?!

This slaps me on the knee. thinking you can pirate on the 3DS...

...Is this guy f'real?

Yes he is! The 3ds remix does not sound like how a modern mix should its basically using the DLC music which envokes a more classic feel to it.

It sucks that an enemy is behind a booster in the first place. When there's a booster, I expect to go really fast, and then be able to take an alternate path afterwards.

That's because it's from Sonic Adventure 2, which is the inarguable greatest game in the Sonic franchise.

And the guitar is completely different which adds a mini solo. I don't understand, if this is lazy, then Modern Speed Highway, Seaside Hill, and Planet Wisp are 10x lazier.

Woah now, that's missing the point royally. It's a straight line where you're attacking a moving target who also attacks you. And if you stop, you'll probably get yourself killed. The Metal Sonic battle on the console version is a straight line too, but people aren't complaining about that because of what the player has to do. The Silver 'race' (along with the two others) on the 3DS version see you running along a path that plays itself and you only have to boost to win. Please do some thinking before you try to act like a smart arse next time. It's annoying if you're not going to try and understand the problems people have.

... I actually have said they were lazy before tongue.png Classic was better though. Modern Tropical Resort just seems bleh. They didn't do much to remix it or make it particularly interesting.

EDIT: I got bored before it got to the mini-solo however. Still a lame remix in my eyes (ears?).

Planet Wisp is done with different instruments, Seaside Hill mixes in Ocean Palace, but Speed Highway was pretty lazy.
