this sums up this shitstorm in a nutshell, except replace /v/ with "Sonic Fanbase" because even /v/ of all places agrees with the score

Seriously enough nitpicking it's a freaking 8.5. Who cares if they don't like sonic's shitty friends, or if the music is just "good". or if the graphics etc.

Ok comments like these really tick me off, and make you look like an asinine jackass.

Let's all get one thing straight. NOBODY is complaining about the score. We're all very happy with 8.5. It's a great score, and one that will really enlighten people outside the fanbase of how much better Sonic has gotten as of late because people will take it at face value and assume it's great,

We're complaining about THE REVIEW. You know, the stuff that is said and written and is VASTLY more important. The review itself was mediocre. It barely gave us any insight about how the game properly played. There was almost nothing on level design, nothing on physics, nothing on content and unlockables and the reviewer made loads of wrong comparisons and unjustified statements. Frequently in the review I found myself saying "Why?". There were a distinct lack of reasons and examples to support their points. Supporting your points is something every professional journalist and reviewer should do without a second thought because it's so fundamental. It makes them look unprofessional otherwise.

A poorly written review is a poorly written review, no matter what the score is.

Despite how much I nitpick this game, I feel that the game should have scored higher. I mean if you can trash Unleashed and 06, you can give a game thats just all around good, a 9.

You know as a fan of the series, I feel I'm harder on the games than a casual fan. IGN don't know much about rolling physics, or linearity. They enjoy the simplest elements of Sonic. Since this game delivers this why not hand out a 9? It's almost like theres a cap to how high they can rate a Sonic game. 7 in music and graphics? That just seems like an averages game. I thought it was a decent review, and I'm not unhappy with the score. It's just that the review seems to try to find reasons to nitpick sometimes through buzzwords like "annoying friends" and "cheesy vocals" because they're familiar elements in an unfamiliar era of good Sonic games.

I know 8.5 is a great score, but why do I still feel disappointed with the 8.5? Something's clearly wrong with me, 8.5 is NOT low but it feels low for this game.

And the IGN review is poorly written, but even ME just look at the review scores first and move on on most games.

Meh, I have to agree with the majority. It's a Good score(kinda expected this or a 9) But teh actual review i found lackluster and not that informative. Music I am surprised by. But sound is subjective. Visuals where Is where it bothers me. I hope the framerate isn't as bad as they say it is.

Also, coming from me, I think you guys are stretching things a bit too much regarding how they thought of the side-characters. Granted, it kinda enforces the dislike of the supporting cast, but they didn't go too far in the hate. They seemed pretty mild, and while there's plenty to get irked by how they did it, to be this way seems to be a bit much if you ask me. Then again, I guess that's just how they worded it.
