SSMB Festive Season is coming - We need YOUR input!

As the end of November approaches, and Advent is about to begin, it's that time of year again, folks!

SSMB's Seasonal Festivities!

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or just Happy Holidays with family and friends, we're throwing a party here on SSMB for the whole of December (just like in the good old days!) and every single one of you is invited to join in and spread the season's cheer (:

So, basically, what's going to happen is that the staff team are going to run some festive forum games, and there'll be some interesting events popping up on TSS too, so keep an eye on the main site! I'll be kicking things off with a post over there in a couple of days~

How can YOU help? Well! Glad you asked! I'd like some [reasonable - so don't ask for an interactive advent calendar because there's simply not the time or man-power to throw something like that together D:] suggestions for some fun little things we can do on the forum.

I can tell you that we WILL be having a return of the popular "Decorate the SSMB Christmas Tree" game, so consider that one already set to go. What else might we be up to? And what else would you like to see? I can't promise that all ideas will be implemented, but we'll do our best to make things as fun as possible here over the coming weeks in the lead up to the festive climax.

Also, don't forget to submit your festively themed banners in the banner thread! The next set of banner uploads will be happening in early December, so get cracking.

Finally, it would be really neat to see as many of you as possible change up your names to reflect the festive season, starting December 1st. If you require a forced name change (i.e. because you've used up your limit), it's likely that an admin will be willing to help you with that. You don't have to, of course, but it's always fun!

So, get your Santa hats and reindeer antlers on, start the fire crackling, grab some Stollen or mince pies and join us for a round of carol sing-- oh, wait, no. It's still ideas and guessing time. So, get to it! ♪

Secret Santa- This will probably be quickly rejected, but I wanna see some feedback for this here idear.

Basically, you'd have to get/make a physical present for whoever your Secret Santa partner is an mail it out to them. This is obviously risky, so if it does happen, there should be some specific rules to follow, i.e.: someone who just joined cannot participate.

It might also be best if we limit ourselves to people close to our regions, since shipping overseas will be a bitch.

I've also got a nifty idea for a forum game. Can't tell ya though, it's a suprise that only the mods will know of.

I'll say right now that if a Secret Santa idea IS considered, it will have to be an online version (art, mp3s, sigs/avatars, drabbles, that kind of a thing). The logistics of location-matching and postage discrepancies just make it too much of a headache, otherwise, especially at this short notice. Plus, I'm sure a lot of people would love to participate but simply can't afford to buy even a small gift. So do bear that in mind.

Let's see. Art contest has been said along with Secret Santa. Um... Maybe a Sonic bake off or something? we all make our own foods at this time of year, maybe add a blue hedgehog to the mix? Also for the radio we need LOTS of ice level music playing alot. Keeps the feel!

Singing? Ah ha, I can try that! I was in the school shows back a few years and I think I still can (I do so in the shop and I'm not told to shush) so lets ride those sleighs!

This sounds like a ton of fun! A few Christmases ago Indigo, HunterTSF, Frozen Nitrogen, and I came up with a silly Sonic variant of the 12 Days of Christmas in the status updates.

get a list of people who want to do it, one guy gets a Christmas card, writes Merry Christmas from (Insert name). Mails it on to someone else... when they recieve it they then add their name and mail it on to someone else... and so on... until it makes it's way back to the original sender.

Totally upto the person sending if they want to include anything with it or not... although for delivery times I suggest they don't.
