Fun fact: This is Misty's first appearance in the anime in literally 12 years since 2005, when she last appeared in mid-AG. I honestly never expected to see Misty again, especially after she missed 3 series in a row (DP, BW and XY), so this is a surprise.

It's only 2 episodes, so even though Misty/Brock both got stale as main characters awhile ago, seeing them again for 2 eps is nice. Especially since they bothered to give both of them Mega's and will have them battle Ash. After this they'll probably fade into obscurity again for the next 10 years, so it's a one time deal.

If anything though I wonder if this opens the door for more old character cameos in the future. While Serena is sort of likely given she just recently left, we also haven't seen May since 2008 or Dawn since 2012. It's been quite a few years for them as well.

Screenshots and scans for the episodes. This will be only a two-parter.

It's been so long. They look so right together. Though this only makes me sadder that they weren't in the movie, but it is what it is.

Has there been any word on voice actors yet? Misty's Japanese VA retired last I heard, so I'm curious to know if she's coming out of it for this one occassion or if they're getting someone new.

Misty's VA, Mayumi Iizuka, has not retired. In fact she's the one who revealed that Misty picture.

Of the Pokegirl VAs, Iizuka seems to be the one who enjoys her role the most and is always keen on coming back to reprise Misty and just waits for word from the staff for when she's needed - she'd probably come right back and voice her full time if Misty was brought back as a permanent cast member. KAORI, May's VA, is the one that retired, iirc, and Megumi Hayashibara, Dawn's, is on maternity leave and has put her career on pause for the moment.

As for Ueda, Brock's VA, he voices Wobbuffet. He's still around.

Fun Fact: Brock's VA also voiced Ash's Greninja.

So you can definitely say that he's been around and active in the anime in recent years.

Also, Dawn's voice actress is Megumi Toyoguchi. Not Hayashibara.

Looks like Misty's personality is going to be vastly different than what old fans know her. Looks like her temper/tomboyish personality of Season 1 is gone and she has a more girly friendly personality to make her more like the modern female companions.

It's kind of bizarre the one thing people remember about Misty the most, her huge temper, was actually only really only there for Season 1 and then started disappearing as early as Orange Islands.

Based on what? An image of her trying to be cute?

Well, it makes sense. Misty was only so angry in Season 1 cause Season 1 Ash was such an arrogant brat and Brock was...well, Brock. lol

Orange Islands was all about Ash improving as a trainer and maturing as a person. As such, Misty had less reasons to be so mad during it and by the time Johto hit, she hardly had any reasons at all outside of Brock shenanigans since she and Ash were now hitting it off so well.

Well if you remember during Misty's Hoenn cameos she was all nice and friendly too, so I guess this will be more align with that? You guys have to remember, Misty was based on popular 90's anime stereotype where the female characters had tempers and bossed around guys.

Since the 2000's that type of anime personality got replaced by more girly or feminine personality types in all anime, and the pokemon anime reflected that too with most of the recent female companions. Nowadays you really don't see the bossy/short tempered anime female personality in shows anymore, it's almost like it's a relic from the 90's.

The only reason I'm saying this is in alot of places online people are acting like this is some return to Season 1 dynamic, when it obviously won't be.

Curiously, the scans clarify that Brock is indeed working to become a Pokemon Doctor, as he did in after DP.

But Misty's job as the Cerulean Gym Leader is omitted. It just specifies she's a Water Pokemon Specialist.

So. That could be a thing.

Just as I figured. Misty and Brock look wonky in still images, but in motion they look just fine. And that trailer was chock full of great classic Kanto moments. REALLY looking forward to this. Hope the writers aren't rusty.

Was that Horsea and Seadra still suggesting Misty evolved her Horsea?

Also, they look great. Going by the flashback stills, Brock's vest seems to be new. He has the correct pockets in them. I prefer it with them...

I don't think so. There's another scene with a Rapidash, Magmar and Charizard all next to each other....I think it's just Prof. Oak or Alola Oak explaining to the SM kids about Kanto pokemon. Same reason we see scenes of both Kanto/Alolan Exeguttor next to each other, and two Geodude and two Marowak.

Now that we know the SM characters are going with Ash back to Kanto, I guess this won't be the original trio reunion people thought it was. I'm guessing that short scene at the airport where Ash first sees Misty/Brock will be the only time the old trio is together, then the SM characters all follow behind him and they all go to Oak's together.

Given this is only 2 episodes, I don't think Misty/Brock will even get much screentime. The two battles will probably happen in the second ep. First ep also has Team Rocket attack the group in a giant robot, so that's probably the gist of it besides the flashbacks.
