Not what Eva was to Mech animes only for Magical Girl shows. I mean fuck.

And this is a bad thing? I don't like overly cute anime, so I like it this way.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I wasn't expecting it and it threw me off. In Eva, it was at least plausible that people who are in mecha animes have deep psychological issues. This. They turned something innocent and loving and exposed it in a really fucked up setting.

So I just watched the first episode of Madoka.

Yes, I need to watch it all. Holy shit.

Episode 3 is where you start to care.

So... Madoka is coming to the U.S., with a dub, blu-ray unconfirmed, however it would be stupid not to give it blu-ray treatment. So... yeah, I hope Aniplex does a good release of it.

Tiger and Bunny came up with a twist,

Jake wasn't the killer! Now everything is back to square one and Tiger is losing his powers

:o.

Caught the recent Naruto.

Its about time they got to revealing what Itachi's crow was about. Kind of annoyed that we gotta wait till next issue.

Dammit, this always happens. I think I'm good with my anime and don't have to worry about getting into anything new for a while... then I visit a message board or two and they keep bringing up this show I've never heard of and how awesome it is. I guess I'm going to have to give this Madoka show a shot. My interest is peaked on this whole "Episode 3" ordeal and what it's all about.

Episode 3 is the point where grown men no longer have any shame about watching a show about cute girls with magical powers, episode 3 is that episode that makes you go wtf and proceed to follow the rest of the series. Episode 3... is... Episode 3.

I've never had an issue with Magical Girl anime... Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Pretty Sammy, Magic Knight Rayearth, etc., so I'm sure I'll love this. And besides... I love a show about cute little ponies.

I spent all day watching this series, and all I gotta say is HOLY SHIT.

I'm watching Madoka.

I watched Episode 3.

OH...

MY...

GAWD.

What have you people exposed me to?! I feel like I've walked down a path I cannot return from. I guess I should be happy it's only 12 episodes long. I don't think I could handle a 26 episode run of this. That and the soundtrack... oh, the soundtrack. I must have it. It's like My-Otome's soundtrack on steroids.

Why do I think I'm going to be watching all of this by tomorrow night?

Spoilers, maybe?

Hm. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about Madoka as a whole, since I loved the first three episodes and the final three (and especially episode 10. Seriously, that gave me such a time travel fetish for the longest time), but the middle six were a bit weak. I understand that it was pretty much essential to the plot that they stall for time and make everyone even more miserable, but it felt like the series was treading water for a while there. Part of the problem was that Kyouko never really meshed with the rest of the cast for me and so much of the middle portion of the series was about her; she always felt like she was supposed to be the first of a parade of guest star magical girls who'd show up from out of town, but then she stuck around longer than she was supposed to and none of the other ones ever showed up.

Because it a damn good anime.

I said 3 is like the turning point, not the best episode. I wouldn't say almost nothing, because it did set the tone for the rest of the series as we see the characters lives spiral out of control.

My first anime was DBZ :) along with pokemon. I later stared watching Yuyu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, and Inuyasha. Was recommended Gurren Lagan by another person but never bothered to look it up for some reason. Haven't watched any anime in a long time, I should really get back into it. Reading the Zelda Manga as of now.

Really? The middle part felt more like Sayaka's story more than anything else, about her relveation and whatnot.

Finished the series....This may give Evangelion a run for its money in terms of depressing anime. I need to watch an Idealistic series just to cleanse myself,

I haven't watched any recent anime in ages, mostly because a lot looked really boring. Can anyone recommend some goodies?

JezMM was watching Clannad but I can't get past their derpy faces to watch it seriously.

At the moment I've just been reading manga, Bakuman, Biomega and DOGS, and I'm going to be reviewing some live action films later this month, Blood and Cutie Honey lol so that'll be fun!

lol my girlfriend has been trying to get me to finish that for over a year now. I'm like, 4 episodes in and just cannot finish. I'm probably making a few enemies by saying this, but it seems too melodramatic for me to be interested in it.

Anyways, I have something a lot more interesting to talk about.

A few days ago, I was among the first Americans to see Makoto Shinkai's newest film, Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below. The English title just rolls off the tongue, no? I'm not going to review it or anything because I suck at that, but here are some thoughts on the movie.

Honestly, I haven't seen any other films by Shinkai (other than that short film about that cat), but if any of his other films are half as good as this, then consider myself a fan. I adored this movie so much, it gave me similar feelings of happiness, sadness, nostalgia, and awe that I felt when I first saw Spirited Away years ago.

The real heart of the movie's plot comes from Asuna, the main character, and Mr.Morisaki. Both of them lost people dear to them, yet handle it in different ways. For Asuna, she tries to fill in the void, while Morisaki knows what he wants and goes through with it in the end. I don't want to give away too much, it's something one should see for themselves.

Shinkai is famous for his "cloud porn", and this movie isn't an exception. Every frame of this movie is a masterpiece. There are good portions of the film where the audience is to just admire the wondrous and frightening world of Agartha. While such scenes do somewhat create pacing problems, they aren't anything I can really complain about. This movie is so goddamn pretty.

It's sad that this probably won't be available in most regions for another year or so (it only came out in Japan a few months ago). If it somehow gets a limited theatrical release in your region, do not hesitate. See it. This is a film that needs to be seen on a big screen.

Decided to watch/continue Mai Hime, I saw Mai Otome a while ago and thought this might be decent too. I still have no decent idea what's going besides discovering the characters in Mai Otome were basically copied from Hime...
