While sad that the recording studio for many shows is moving in due to worry of earthquakes, we can now say that Megumi recorded Rei Ayanami (obvious) and Aki Kisaragi (Space Knight Tekkaman Blade) in the same room. I did feel that the two shows had similar vibes in a few ways, so this is the perfect coincidence.

Come to think of it, Maaya Sakamoto has been in a lot of mecha, Rebuild of Eva, Escaflowne, Rahxephon and a Gundam if I recall.

While on the subject of voice artists, there could be a bad joke about how Tomokazu Seki played werehog Sonic and Maaya played Elise. Their characters in Escaflowne were lovers, Van Fanel and Hitomi Kanzaki (both human). By unintended extension, Hitomi loving Van carried over to  Sonic games by their voice artists. Excuse me while I take some anti-overthinking pills.

So I finished Akame ga Kill since I didn't want to wait on the mediocre dub on Toonami. It was pretty alright. Not anything remarkably outstanding by any means, but I still enjoyed it. Now I need to read the manga so I can get the full actual story.

Remember when I mentioned that Sentai/ADV voice actor Illich Guardiola had an affair with his student who was illegally younger?

Well, now we have a Funi voice actor that was caught with child smut, Scott Freeman.

Both companies have gotten rid of their relationship with their respective criminals.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-09-06/voice-actor-scott-freeman-convicted-of-possession-of-child-pornography/.92346

At least Scott is getting three years in jail, the jerk! Words cannot describe how upsetting this must be for many fans.

Seriously, Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi even commented on it with fans on Twitter, vaguely.

Prison School is fucking hilarious.

It really is. It's super fucked up but it's the best kind of fucked up. It's just so damn stupid and it's good at being damn stupid while at the same time being suspenseful and heavy. Didn't think it would be my brand of comedy at first but I love it.

Guys. Guys. Guys. What is this? Am I actually seeing this correctly? A remake of FLCL by Production I.G?!

The anime studio Production I.G announced on Friday that it acquired the rights to the 2000-2001 original video animeFLCL from Gainax, with whom I.G co-produced the anime. It added that it will take advantage of those rights for a "new anime remake" and other ventures.

Synch-Point and later Funimation have released the anime in North America. Funimation describes the story:

The anime is the first directorial effort from Kazuya Tsurumaki, who served as assistant director on the Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime and would go on to direct the new Evangelion films.Production I.G notes that the dubbed versions of the anime have been popular overseas, particularly in North America where it ran on television. Kadokawa Shoten's Kadokawa SneakerBunko novelized the story, and Kodansha's Monthly Magazine Z adapted the story into manga as the anime was being released. It won the third place in Canada's Fantasia Film Festival in 2003.

While it's awesome that one of my favorite anime companies own FLCL...why a remake? It would make more sense if it was a sequel to a show like this imo.

I started watching Durarara!! a few months ago, and it's pretty good! It's a mixture of supernatural, drama and action with some great plot and fun moments too.

It doesn't focus on a single main character, which is great and fresh in my opinion. Each character has its past, visions and secrets, and they all blend together in a little Tokyo's district named Ikebukuro.

Depending on the character the episode decides to give more attention, you can get a dark narrative, a funny narative, or outright insane (and funny) in the case of Shizuo.

Speaking of Shizuo, he's the best character, period. You might wanna check out to see why.

Durarara!! or DRRR!! is still running, and it's on Crunchyroll, new episodes every saturday. It has almost 50 episodes so far.

Yay! Saban got a Pretty Cure series! I honestly am very happy about this, even with edits.

I came here to talk about this. Um, as a huge fan of the series, I'm really concerned with this to be honest. First off, the name. Pretty Cure had a Canadian dub of the first season, so I don't see the reason for the name change. It feels like they're trying to market it as super girly and childish. Which.. it is but.. still.

And the edits. This is 2015. We haven't had edited anime since.. whew, since the old days of Toonami in the early 2000s I think. And Pretty Cure, especially the Smile season is the most happy go lucky thing you can watch. Pretty Cure in general is a rather safe series so I have no idea why they'd edit out episodes. My guess is they'll cut out the holiday specials and the ones where Japanese holidays are celebrated. Not that big of a loss, but it's still iffy. It just reminds me of 4Kids, which isn't a good sign.

Another thing going through my head is how they'll market this show. Will they have merchandise and "Glitter Force" trading cards? It'd be sweet if they did. And considering this anime series is made to heavily advertise toys (even the weapons look like toys that are sold in stores) I would like to see them make some deals. Kinda going back to the 80s by that sense.

Oh and I wonder what type of theme song it will have and if they'll have a vocal track for the ending. Part of me hopes they just make English covers for the existing themes since they are amazing and catchy but this new approach feels very 80s/90s and I fear they'll change a lot.

I probably sound like one of those extreme otakus that hate 4Kids or something, but I really do love this series. Looking back, it does look very glittery so the name makes sense. Makes me wonder if every season will have a different "force" of heroes. But yeah going back to what I was saying, I think Smile Pretty Cure is the perfect introduction to the series. It's either this or the 1st season (which is already dubbed) and I feel if it does well, it will become a strong introduction to the brand overseas. I personally think the animation, characters, and story are the strongest of all the Pretty Cure seasons. With that said, I'm sure you guys probably understand my concern with them bringing it overseas.

Hopefully they make the right choices and make it a success. From what I've seen, this show has been on the edge since 2013 (that's when they first licensed Smile and renamed it to Glitter Force) so I hope all that time was spent carefully creating a dub that will bring this series to a wider, international audience. And hey, if this goes well, hopefully I'll see a Greek dub of it someday. :D Saban has the international broadcasting rights, after all.

Oh and one last thing, I predict this will be on Disney Channel. We've already got Lolirock and Miraculous Ladybug (coming soon) on it, as well as the new Sabrina show, so I feel it would fit in nicely. Also considering Saban has made deals with Disney (are they owned by them?) in the past, it's a good guess, I think.

Since Doraemon, actually. The rage was real when that was announced.

Also my desktop isn't letting me post here again so I get to use my laptop for this site and this site alone. Yay.

Wait, really? I know Disney XD is airing it in the USA, but I haven't seen any episodes or heard many people talk about it. Why is Disney censoring anime again? ._. There's really no need..

I can understand that mindset.. if it was the 90s. I mean, One Piece and Dragon Ball Z Kai are airing on Cartoon Network's Toonami block uncensored, and those are properties of Toei. Granted, they are for an older audience, but still.

I just hope nothing terribly awful will happen. The Pretty Cure series is in financial trouble, what with rating declining and merchandise not selling in Japan. If this is Toei's way of trying to make some more money off the franchise and an attempt to keep it alive, I hope they'll be smart with the way they approach this.

MAN there are a lot of fillers in Naruto Shippuden. YEESH. The manga's ended so I don't really see the point in continuing with fillers... Unless they're gonna show various characters' Infinite Tsukuyomi dreams, which I wouldn't mind.

Also I saw the Boruto movie in theaters the other day, it was pretty amazing actually. I like Boruto who isn't a carbon copy of Naruto, Sarada's already more likeable than Sakura, Mitsuki's pretty cool too. My only complaints were that Hinata didn't do anything (though she was great in The Last anyway so) and that they didn't use any original Naruto music (but I assume there are some licensing issues or something). But yeah, really great. It also had the best fight sequence in the whole movie series. :0

(yes I'm that one weirdo that enjoyed Shippuden after the Pain arc whoops)

Yeah I don't get why they're still doing filler for Naruto when the Manga is done. I admit, I do like Sarada, I was originally expecting her to be as annoying as a young Sakura or as moody as Sasuke, both traits which I kinda hate, but she ended up being something unique to me.

I'm just waiting very impatiently to see Luffy's Gear 4th in action in One piece already and to get done with Dressorona, through they'll just go into some filler right after that, it's actually okay cause the anime is REALLY close to where the Manga is, so I think filler episodes are actually needed.

So I really like, and I mean really like Ushio & Tora.

latest?cb=20150401021357

Okay so basic premise:

Kid (Ushio) lives in a house with a priest as a dad and his dad has a special spear in his basement that's holding a trapped demon (Tora). When other demons start to attack, he removes the spear to fight them and in return, the demon that was previously trapped now haunts the kid and they go on adventures together and stuff.

This is based off an older manga from the 90s, but seeing it in 2015's animation is such a delight. It's a simple battle shonen-layout, but considering when the original content was writtin, it's really well done battle shonen. I love the characters. They're all so animated and full of personality, especially Tora. One of the most dangerous demons around and he's a gigantic goofball

Especially when it comes to screwing around with Ushio.

ushio-to-tora-01.jpg

best tsundere demon bro.

Anyways, not only the comedic moments are great, the animation is stylish and really damn nice to look at. Awesome animation with a huge 90s spin.

Storyline is pretty interesting overall too. I love the lore and the huge variety of demons featured in the show.

So yeah if you like 90s battle shonen stuff, then this a damn good show to watch. It's curently airing right now, 17 out of 26 episodes at time of writing.
