Well, I'd say Shadow the Hedgehog, but there is one I pretty much hate more then that awful game because I couldn't even get past the first temple. It was just so boring and annoying.

I present you with...

43377.gif

The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Where the hell do I even start? When I first played this game, I was sort of expecting something much like the first Zelda. Of course, these were the only two Zelda games out at the time, but the way they tried to add a RPG element into an adventure game like this--it was awful. I've played platformers gone RPG (Paper Mario) and enjoyed them, but...yeesh.

Zelda2.jpg

First off, whenever I died I would need to regrind my levels. Now...I'm not going to judge the game based off of graphics--because that's not how I really work. While good graphics are wonderful eye candy, it does not merit a better game for me. The battle system was incredibly lack luster. I found jumping to be extremely awkward while trying to swing your sword, enemy placement annoying not to mention a lot of the monsters were extremely powerful early on, and when you try to pick up the items/objects said monster drops it's very frustrating. Half the time I felt like my sword swipes weren't connecting at all yet the enemy hit me plenty.

Some of the magics you get in the game are...ok, but aside from fire and healing...maybe the fairy spell, it's just...nothing in this game was engaging. The only thing I found interesting was the names of the towns as they were then brought back in Ocarina of Time.

error0kn.png

This game was just so...bleahhh. There was no great music (aside from maybe the temple music, later remixed in Melee), no fun battle system, levelling up was boring as hell, awkward battle control, and all around frustrating.

I love video games. I really do. I can safely say that I find it impossible to hate videogames and that there's something in a game I always find myself enjoying. Sonic 06 was so bad it was hilarious and the glitches were entertaining. Duke Nukem Forever had a healthy dose of variety and the multiplayer was fun. That said however, I've only played two games in my entire life that I can safely say were some of the most excruciating pieces of bile I ever had the misfortune to play. FFXIII is one of them, but it's easily thwarted by Metroid: Other M.

It's worth noting that Metroid as a franchise isn't exactly something I hold near and dear to me but I fucking loved Metroid Prime. It easily rests in my Top 5 games of all time and is perhaps also my favorite trilogy of any game series. By the time Other M was announced, I was half-ready to move on, and I wanted to see the Metroid series expand more, perhaps by returning to some of it's roots in conceptual setup. Except this time, it was not only ready to do that, but prepare to tell a seemingly large backstory for one of the most beloved female gaming icons in history and one of my favorite protags.

The result for me was an unmediated disaster. By Murphy's Law, everything that could possibly go wrong with this title went wrong. The game sacrificed exploration for linearity, but if Metroid Fusion proved anything it's that linearity isn't always an inherently bad thing. It's a crying shame that this game is filled with nothing but generic set pieces and reused assets for corridors that do a fantastic job in making you lose orientation, a combat mechanic that revolves around nothing but button-mashing due to enemies being nothing but cannon fodder with some having insane amount of health, a controller setup that works incredibly awkward when switching up to first person, and a vapid setting.

Oh, and let's not even get started with the story. It's bad enough that the voice talents of this game were probably stressed out of hospitals at a 5 AM schedule, save for the token black guy, but not even great voice actors would hide the fact that it has possibly some of the worst writing in history. I could write age long paragraphs as to how the story is bad, but there have been enough video game critics on the web who've done this and I'd only be using up my precious time. The plot is chock-ton of ass pulls, plot points that are only resolved by last minute additions, events that don't make any sense in the least and Samus' monotone, emotionless voice does not help in adding the atmosphere, at all.

I was so hyped for this title, but I've never been so let down by anything in my entire life that it manages to flip my negativity switch on a subject I have such a hard time housing negativity for.

Day 3- The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

skywardsword.jpg

Yep, I loathe tihs game with a passion (as I'm sure most of you know by now). Let me explain,

First off, no, I don't hate the motion controls. After trudging through 6 years of crappy 3rd party games of the Wii like a Pregnant women does going up the stairs, saying she can get through it at first, but comes to hate it every day, the motion controls are the least of my problems. The motion controls is a cool idea, and at first I wished that more wii games did this. Then I realized how monotonous and repetitive the controls are. The first hour you'll feel emerged, thinking you are Link, then later after you face the same monster again, you're so bored and tired of it. Plus it doesn't help when the sword never goes in the direction you want it to have the time.

The Story, to me is bland and uninteresting. We've been here before, Zelda gets kidnapped, Link has a dream of his destiny, goes out on his destiny, The triforce, gotta collect three pieces, yadda yadda yadda. It's the same thing we've gotten for the past 15 years, only in a new enviorment. I will give them credit though, for not getting the story hijacked by Ganon. Tough for being the first game in the series, it doesn't really explain alot of things that we see in the future games.

The dungeons are the same as they've always been, (concept wise) and there's no puzzles that really wow me, or excite me, or confuse me.

Now I didn't want to put this as my least favorite game at first, because I'm only after the second dungeoun, and I've seen most youtube videos of the story/later dungeouns because I have no desire to continue on with this game. It's a huge dissapointment that they kept marketing this as a new fresh Zelda, yet all it's trying to do is be Ocarina of Time in disguse, just like Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. Wind Waker was the only game that felt fresh and new to me.

People keep telling me "Don't worry, the game gets better after 4-5 hours!" Well 3 hours in, and I'm sick of it. Why do I have to invest..no actually, waste hours of my life in order to enjoy a game that should of been enjoyable from the start. That's the kind of crap I expect Final Fantasy to do, not Zelda.

Bottom Line, I loathe this game so far because of the way the game works. I will not deny that this is a good quality game, and I can see why others love it, but for me, I can't stand it. I didn't give all the reasons I hate it cause I don't want this to be so long, but you get the idea. Sorry Zelda fans, but I'm gonna have to give this game a big thumbs down from me.

Day 3 - Your Least Favorite Video Game Series (Pfft, more like most hated)

Modern_Warfare_2_cover.PNG

I *hate* Call of Duty, just as much as everyone else does. And by "everyone else", I mean "most of the people that actually have a passion for gaming". There's a *reason* almost every actual gamer absolutely hates this franchise: It's generic as hell, repetitive as hell, and started one of the worst trends gaming has ever seen. Thanks for giving me the guarantee of seeing over half an hour of generic first person shooters at almost every gaming conference I'll ever watch, Call of Duty. I appreciate it.

I've played Call of Duty 3 and couldn't bear to play for more than two hours. After that, I found out about the whole Treyarch/Infinity Ward thing, so when everyone was calling Modern Warfare one of the best games ever, I decided to give it a shot. I got bored after an hour, and slogged through another just to make sure it wouldn't stop sucking any time soon. When Modern Warfare 2 started getting Game of the Year awards, I decided to give this God-forsaken piece of garbage one more chance. I enjoyed myself for an hour (because there was actually some freaking gameplay variety for once), and then realized the whole rest of the game was the same old crap that got old an hour into Call of Duty 3. It took three hours to wish I had never wasted my money renting it.

The only way I can feasibly see this game having "Game of the Year" in the same sentence is if "Worst" was also present. And to think people complain about Pokemon and Zelda being repetitive. :l

I mean I like the music and dont mind the story and love when I got to play as Ike but the gameplay is the most annoying thing I ever played in a long while.

I tried my best ot enjoy it but I just cant. I started it off and was interested in it. I played a couple of levels and even loved when Ike came onto the scene but it became such a drag after awhile. I would play on and on and every level would seem like a chore to do. It had barely any fun in it to me and after playing it for awhile I just left it and never picked it up again. If this wasnt already getting on my nerves the high difficulty just came and made me hate the game even more.

Day three and my least favorite video game. This is a tough one as I don't really have very many least favorite games but there is one in my mind that stands out the most.

need-for-speed-undercover-packshot.png

NFS Undercover

Dear God this game left me with a bad taste in my mouth on so many levels. The story is so poorly executed that I can't even begin to describe how awful it is without getting a headache. The gameplay has so many bugs that it deserves its own topic. The content in this game is shallow and that is being kind to it. The only saving grace of this game is size of the city you explore.

(Dis) Honorable Mentions:

Shadow the Hedghog: At least it was entertaining with the cheesy story and bad lines (e.g. Find the Computer Room.)

NFS The Run: The idea of a cross country race across the U.S. was appealing but poorly executed in terms of story and content. At least the environments were great to take in along the way.

I could have picked something else to be more original. But no. Sonic '06 is by far the WORST game I have ever had the unfortune of sitting through. The gameplay was crap and broken (that word actually doesn't even begin to describe it), the story was beyond awful (beastiality? Was there really any need?), the music was shite and it's design was just all-round crap. I don't know what the hell they did to Eggman, but it's freaky as hell. This game is everything a Sonic game (hell, any game) should not be. I have never wanted to physically burn a game before, but this one took the biscuit. It's gone, caput. How any self-respecting gamer can enjoy this is beyond me. And I wish I could say anything about this game (besides SonicMan of course) was just funny because of its sheer shittyness.

There.

Oh, god... I can't do negativity to that extent. Now I'm sure I've played plenty of games I've totally hated so I'm gonna go look at my collection and see if I can choose one that I've owned AND played enough of to judge.

...

Okay, I think I have a couple of games.

220pxsambadeamigowii.jpg250pxdrawntolifecoverar.jpg

Samba Di Amigo (Wii) / Drawn To Life

So this was really tough. Samba Di Amigo I played once or twice and never again. I'm well aware that apparently the Wii version was inferior to the original so don't feel too offended Samba fans.

It probably didn't help that the song list was utterly boring to me. I probably should have somewhat seen that coming considering I... don't care for samba music at all. It's just unfortunate. The series has a good reputation so I trusted that, but then again a lot of the same Sonic Team advocates hail Billy Hatcher as being an utterly amazing platformer so I probably shouldn't have trusted that so much in retrospect (Billy Hatcher was just "alright" to clarify, didn't hate it).

Drawn to Life, the original, was just really underwhelming. I'm sure they improved it in the sequels, but this was just really lame. The characters you made had to stick to this awkward rigid frame and looked absoloutely awful if you wanted to design anything other than a robot or blob monster. And the gameplay itself was just completely uninspired generic platforming which just failed to engage me at all.

Close runners-up would include Phantasy Star Online: Episode III - C.A.R.D. Revolution, Sonic and the Black Knight, and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. All for being games I WANTED to enjoy, but just completely threw out the gameplay of their predecessors for something completely different that I didn't like. However, I did enjoy SOME parts of all these games (namely soundtracks, and Klungo Saves The World in B-K's case).

Isn't that biased though, to say that people who love games and have a passion for them, can't like COD. I like COD, but that doesn't mean I don't love Mario, Catherine, or Persona as much as the next guy. It is your opinion though, so I'll give you that, unlike half the internet that just say they hate this game only because the "cool" kids are doing it.

P.S. Yeah, it's a bad trend, but that was more of Halo's fault then anything. Besides, I like to think that almost all the generic boring platforming Mario/Sonic rip-offs that occurred form the late 80's to the mid 90's was a bit worse of a trend for my taste.

Finally, someone else agrees with me. No, seriously.

Day 3 Gaiden - Why I Hate First-Person Shooters

First-Person Shooters suck hell. They suck hell so much they suck the life out of me as if it were several Dementors.[/harrypotterreference] If anything, the underlying themes of war and how cool and badass it looks along with the so-called scenery porn of this game instantly turns me off.

The so-called reality of brown is not what I perceive video games to be: a fantastic realm for those willing to escape their reality in order to have fun. How exactly is this fun? You know full well you're killing others not for your own personal reasons but for reasons that made you end up killing people in the first place! These games may be good stress relief, but does it contribute anything meaningful, in the end!? Then again, I play JRPG's, platformers and whatever 'silly babies' play and watch anime, so bite me.

Apparently, people play these games for the multiplayer as well, but where do people who live alone, and play the games no one else plays fit in!? Are we expected to play as if we're part of a group that just chooses to desecrate each other's reputation in the competitive gaming field?

If video games were to immerse you in an experience that resembled that of reality, then why just go somewhere and do the goddamn thing depicted in the art form yourself and not be a lazy ass prick. If you want to play CoD, go to the army. If you want to play Guitar Hero, go play a real guitar. If you want to play Madden NFL, go try join your football team and see whatever else happens. Don't even get me started on how these games are goddamn trends that should die, because I feel like this is beating a dead horse to zombiehood. To be fair, genres are started by all sorts of imitators, but this genre has nothing original to it.

I sure hope to God you don't die. Otherwise, you'll have taken back your awesomeness out of the gene pool.

Least Favorite Videogame?

Sonic_unleashed_boxart.jpg

I'll just note that this actually isn't the worst game I've ever played, I've played a fair amount of shitty cash-ins for cartoons and movies but dear fucking Christ I absolutely loathe this game.

Well the game starts off fine and dandy. The Werehog takes up 70% of my playtime and the day stages were fun enough. Then it happened, and it was all downhill from there. I needed 12 more sun medals to get into Dragon Road Day, it would've been nice if the game told me before that I actually needed to collect them, but I didn't mind, it was worth it for that Day stage right?

Wrong.

It was bad. The past few stages I got along relatively well with the boost, I boosted when I thought I could and slowed down when I needed to. Here I boosted when I thought I could, and got the equivalent of being kicked in the balls for doing so, and it was only going to get worse, much worse. Not only did the day stages all of the sudden become terrible, the night stages became even more terrible removing my ability to catch myself when I inevitably fall off because of the putrid camera angles during the shitty tightrope walking sections, and those bees. GODDAMN BEES EVERYWHERE.

Then it happened again, at Adabat, you already know what I'm talking about. I was like 32 sun medals off, and I was actually making an effort to collect them beforehand. God. Dammit. So I did that, and Jungle Joyride happened. Here they require you to boost over the equivalent of a bottomless pit and everything is out to fucking kill you. To any newcomer these terrifyingly bad enemy and object placement will seem completely random, and if I didn't know any better I would say it was completely random too, because you have geysers appearing out of nowhere in front of your face and buildings falling on top of you for no apparent reason.

I finally beat that level and it's time to take a break, I really need a break right about now-Eggmanland. This level is literally everything I hate about this game cranked up to eleven and stretched out to last over a freaking hour. That's an hour of doing absolutely nothing but watch yourself fail miserably at everything you do. There's is no other option here, it's die or die, and it was terrible.

Well that pretty much sums up my thoughts during my first playthrough of the game. Sonic Unleashed had some horrifyingly bad problems when it came to pacing, which is mostly ruined by the sun/moon medal collecting. Sonic Unleashed also has some major problems with its controls and level design that makes the game still a pain in the ass to play even when I do have the level layouts memorized.

I'm a gamer. Before buying game I watch some random gameplay, ask friends about the game and reads reviews of magazines I trust. So yeah I almost never bought a game that I was disapointed by.Heck I even liked 06 in some way. People will probably flame me but oh well:

Soniccolorswiithumbg.jpg

Yes. Sonic Colors is my least favourite game. Not that the game itself is bad. I mean not THAT bad. I just personally havent enjoyed it as much as previous Sonic titles or any games at all. Its just my least favourite game.

Now to list some reasons why.

Negatives

Story and writting: Its horrible. Cutscenes are pointless and Sonic isnt Sonic to me. Yeah we've got pretty nice chracterisation of EGGMAN but he seems like a clown. With this game I lost whole respect to him (Its actually even ore showed in Generations where he doesnt realize that with world he will destroy himself. And he got IQ of 300 huh?). Sonic is... Not Sonic. Its just some guy who talks to machines. Did Sonic EVER talk to EGGMAN robots (Not counting Gamma and Omega) I mean even in 06 when he fights Egg Cerberus he tells EGGMAN "All right EGGMAN I'll play with him!" and that was 100% cooler that talking to Robots when he knows they wont respond. Its stupid. Sonic acts like an idiot. It seems he is trying to hard to be cool. Now Tails. Tails is tech guy again. He just say "Do this. Do this" I mean seriously if Yacker could talk then Tails would be useless.

This is 3D game?

Sonic Colors is great 2D game but medicore 3D game. There is really small number of 3D sections and even if there is such section its mostly Quick-step sections (Well HELLO Starlight Carnival!) or just some straight lines or some Homing attack chains.

Wisps concept

While the idea was nice the execution lacks. Most of the Wisps are only usable in 2D. Some are useless and game could easily go without them (Laser could be replaced with single spring, Same for Rocket, Cube could be replaced with button, Hover could be replaced with spring or something else etc.). Wisps arent creative. They are there for the sake of being there)

Replayability: I played game, found Red Rings, played with Super Sonic and never touched it again. I just didnt want to. While I play Generations up to this day, month after I 100% the game (All S-Ranks)

Positives

While game lacks its still a nice 2D game. Platforming is nice. Level ideas are orginal but again poorly executed. I think we should go with more SA/2-ish levels next time.

I got no more positives.

Why are so many people listing Sonic games? Is this just to be controversial or some kind of long running joke?

Only even if you find games like Shadow or Sonic 06 bad as they're not that great... and... colours for some reason... re they really the worst game you've ever played...

Out of all the thousands of games out there, a lot of people truely believe that Sonic colours/Shadow the hedgehog/unleashed (although amazingly nobody has said secret rings/black knight yet!) are the worst games ever made?

Even if I look at Sonic games, I'd probably pick Shadows game and secret rings as my least favourite of the bunch I've played, but as for giving it the title of the worst game ever, erm... I can't really say that by a long shot.

I don't particually care if people do dislike said games or not, only to say it's the worst game ever, thats quite a statement to make considering the huge number of games out there. But are they really worse than games like StormRise? A.M.Y? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (remake)? Time Crisis Rising Storm? We Dare? Star Trek Legacy?

Shadow and '06 I can easily understand, seeing as how they're horrible abominations that never should have been created...

But Colors? I mean.. yeah, I can understand people saying it's boring (I personally loved it to death, but to each their own), but the worst game ever? That seems more than a little harsh to me.

Day 3 . Least favourite game/franchise.

This one was quite hard for me to chose, since I can't really remember any game that I've really hated, I've been bored, yes, I've been disappointed... But hating?

I guess if I had to chose anything I would go with this one:

CC4.jpg

Yup, remember how I was the only one here to choose an RTS for best game? Well here is another one, this little piece of.... Something... It's the most boring, anticlimatic and disappointing way of ending one of the series that has left a huge mark in me as a gamer.

For starters, instead of going with their more traditional gameplay EALA decided it would be a nice idea to make a reboot and try to replace some mechanics, base building and resource gathering were ditched in favour of mobile, specialized crawlers and micromanagement of a very limited number of units...

Now, this is were the game starts to fall apart for me, since I've never been into "this kind" of RTS (that's why I was never able to get into the Total War series), so taking the main gameplay style that I enjoyed so much in previous years feels like a punch in the face...

Maybe I would be able to tolerate the change in gameplay style (I think I managed to switch fine between Dawn of War's) if it was even done right, as I said before the tiny number of units that you can command is nowhere near what I'm used to see in the series (at least in singleplayer) and I can't shake the feeling that most battles end up lacking a little in comparison to other games (I somehow manage to enjoy Dawn of War II just fine but I'm guessing this is because each unit in that game is way more complex and you can do a lot more with them)... As a positive, I have to recognize it offers some balance between different players (you can no longer spam a big unit and win the match anymore).

The overspecialization is sometimes both good and bad (good because I'm guessing it offers chances for some epic teamplay strategics, bad because if something doesn't work the only thing you can do is quickly switch between something within your limited choices or respawn, and I can't remember if the later choice was all that forgiving).

Yeah, speaking about teamplay, maybe the most infuriating point for me is how this game puts any chance of you having any fun with it in the multiplayer, as someone with G3 internet connection that doesn't even work as it's supposed to, it pretty much means I can't enjoy this at all... Since it leaves me with an overall boring campaign (the ambience and soundtrack were average though, and the later just can't be compared to the master pieces of older games) and some really lackluster skirmish mode. The fact that I need to level up to have access to some units somewhat tells me that I wouldn't have fun in the multiplayer even if I could play it. >_> (but this is me speaking out of my ass so don't take me seriously in this one)

I'm not so sure if the same happens in multiplayer but as I said before, the skirmish here sucks, you are limited to play with 2 factions and all your other team must be of the same band (you can't have a GDI/NOD team), to make things even less varied, you can't even chose what the other team will play as (it's always GDI vs. NOD)... The only gameplay mode available is a "capture the point" match (similar to Dawn of War 2 I guess), but there is barely any fun or variation of strategy that you can have here since all of the maps are so tiny that pretty much the only choice you have (and in my case, the only thing the AI does) is start rushing to the nearest point and try to take the other points as soon as you can... Most matches are over in minutes leaving me disappointed because I don't even get to try the bigger/coolest units the game. (not that I actually get to do a lot with the smaller ones either).

So, a disappointing campaign mode, an extremely lacking single player experience, hours of grinding required to get to use the good stuff, many steps backwards compared to older games of the series (we could play GDI vs GDI in Tiberium Sun!), a presentation that lacks compared to other titles and throwing away the more traditional building system I always loved in the series... This is by far, the least fun I've ever experienced in any video game, and the overall feeling of disappointment that grows when you think this was supposed to be the "climax" of the series doesn't help either. dry.png

Honorable mention goes to the FIFA series for boring me to no end those days I had to share the PC with my brother.

What about the music?

I like Tropical Resort. Starlight Carnival sounds like Game Boy music (Read: I hate it), Planet Wisp was nice, Sweet Mountain was decent, I like Aquarium Park, I dont mind Asteroid Coaster. Boss Music Sucked (Yes including EGG Nega Wsip Phase 2. Its just so empy compared to Solaris and Perfect Dark Gaia) overall none of the tracks were really memorable to me. But I always was more Rock OSTs fan (I love SA2 OST, SaTBK OST, SA1 OST, Heroes OST, ShTH OST and 06 (One of better balanced) OST)

This horrid piece of shit was once given to me as a gift for Christmas, and I truly curse the name of whatever aunt or uncle did so. This game made me cry in frustration, but not in the good Super Monkey Ball frustration, but the how the fuck do I even do this kind of frustrations. This so called party games has less than ten actual games to play, each of whichhave completely broken controls making it near impossible to even play the game. Then there's the hub world, a huge beach that has little to nothing actually on it. It has all of the same games as before, except that they actually had the balls to lock one of the party games (that are in fact unlocked from the start in the usual party mode) until you searched the entire beach for barely visible Seashells that look just like any kind of rock on it, and they happen to be in some of the most dickish places imaginable (behind and under sheds, in areas where they blend in to the background). I'm just happy that I could actually get a cent when senlling this bitch

If they're anything like me people might be choosing games that really disappointed them PERSONALLY.

I mean otherwise the entire thread would just be Superman 64.

I think a lot of it is personal experience. I mean there are loads of terrible games out there, look at all the stuff AVGN's done, but it feels almost unfair to critique something we haven't experienced personally. Sonic Chronicles pissed me off the most and I didn't even finish it (like I did with Shadow, Heroes etc) so technically it's my least favourite game.

I should have probably said Animal Soccer World or any other Dingo Pictures production for "worst" but they're fucking hilarious and I adore the example I gave BECAUSE it's so bad...

This is probably one of the worst games though, offensive AND terrible to play (I saw a review of it somewhere and it looks so bad, but can't remember where).
