Sonic 4 - Episode II - Music Thread

I only didn't really like Splash Hill's music (Act 3 is pretty cool, though). And I really didn't like Eggman's phase two music.

And I absolutely love this:

Reminds me alot of Crash bandicoot 3's Egyptian level music

Although not very similar

I'll say this. If they can turn splash hill from sounding like this:

*Original Splash Hill*

To this:

*2012 Olympics Splash Hill*

Then maybe my faith in Episode 2's music is not misplaced. Come on sonic team!

Mercilessly beating cats to death with a guitar is a horrible thing to do, and sounds even more ill-fitting of S4 to boot. That's the type of instrumentation and music direction I really don't want E2 to take. The one thing that works in that tracks favour is the bell/chime sounds.

Am I the only one that liked "The Road of Cards" from Casino Street? I found it really catchy and fun to play the game with. Is their a remix or remastering of it anywhere?

HOW is this less bearable than the original. I seriously think while it's not a fav or mine that i can actually to stand to listen to it. Yes the dying cats are there still but it's not AS bad as the original. I personally like it better than the original.

I didn't say that. I said it's still horrible and a worse fit to Sonic 4. It's a better sounding track I'll give it that, but it's still pretty horrid.

I wouldn't mind if the music in Episode would be kind of like Sonic CD, (both JP & US styles, since both soundtracks are amazing to me) - Probably my favourite picks:

Metalic Madness Present (Japanese):

Collision Chaos Present (American):

(Quartz Quadrant Bad & Good Futures (American) & Palmtree Panic Bad Future (Japanese) also goes on my favourite list!)

Although I don't really have that much of a problem with E1's music (I enjoy most of it), it is clear that it needs improving. Also, I really do think the 3 Mad Gear Zone themes are the best in the game in my honest opinion!

I have heard it said that the melodies were fine, it's just the instruments that people didn't like. Also is it me or did the music sound very....samey as the game went on?

Yeah, so long as it sounds good, it doesn't matter whether they go for a 16-bit sound or not. Just, be better then E1, somehow, i don't know how though :P

Now before anyone says that that's Crush 40 and not Jun Senoue, the Crush 40 account is Jun's personal Twitter account. It's a bit hard to say whether or not he's including S4E2 in this because the music for the game will likely have been long since finished by now andhe could just be talking about Crush 40 as a whole.

I'm sure he means Crush 40 as a whole. And the game after Episode 2.

It's certainly possible. I'd be really surprised if he wasn't composing for E2, though if it gave Naofumi Hataya, Fumie Kumatani or Tomoya Ohtani (or even Cash Cash) a chance to shine I'd be thrilled. Chances are it's still Jun for E2 though. Can't see it not happening.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot Kenichi Toki.

I don't know about you guys, but I think Jun is the best choice for Sonic 4 music.

Cash-cash? Don't make me laugh. Do you really want to hear some more awesome auto-tune?

They did a great job on Generations.

Sure, but I don't think style is suitable for a game like Sonic 4. Just my opinion.

This is all to modern-sounding to be in Sonic 4.

These aforementioned remixes are great though]]. I like what they did for Generations, I just don't think they can do a better job with music reminding me of the classics than Jun Senoue.

And what I said about auto-tune was just a rant with a bit of sarcasm and trolling. xD
