Sonic 4: Episode 2 Screens & Media Topic

If they just moved around a little bit and made it look like they had some purpose, that would help. I don't recall them being the biggest movers in Sonic 3, either, but at least they didn't just sit there like the giant targets they are now. A little movement wouldn't make any practical difference, but in terms of verisimilitude I think it'd be an enormous help.

What would you say if they turned into their Red counter-parts as a defence mechanism when players are using HA on them too often? It would probably make careful use of the HA rather than being spamtastic.

No, because that's like punishing the player for playing the game.

I like how Sega admits that Episode 1 was pretty much "ENTIRELY POINTLESS"

And my hype is rising again. while I don't like the falling snowballs that throw you back into a bottomless pit at the beginning, I do like how White Park seems not only huge, but may have tons of alternate paths due to the drilling combo move.

My favorite part is when the guy just says fuck off to the spring and uses Tails to fly over it. That's telling it to the man!

EDIT: Hold on, are you telling me they have actually may have fixed the rolling? Jesus, this alone will make me fall in love with it. No uncurling, less floaty, gains some speed running downhill, fucking rolling, I'm really liking the physics changes. Gotta see someone actually show them off completely before I can say I'm loving them.

That story confounds me. Everything I know about Eggman tells me I should never question why he'd build a big base.

Fish swim, cheetas run, hedgehogs roll into balls, and Eggman builds honking huge factories. It's the balance of nature.

Maybe the truth will finally be revealed to us in radio chatter during the episode 3 final boss. "Just so you know Sonic, I didn't really even build Mad Gear Zone. After you fell from the Death Egg Zone, I sent out one of my recon robots and... asked him to give a fresh lick of paint to Metropolis."

That actually got me genuinely laughing out loud. Well done!

Saying that we should wonder why Eggman was in Lost Labyrinth is pretty weird, too. Should we wonder why he was in Splash Hill and Casino Park, too? Because, you know, capturing animals to put in great big metal cages with yellow buttons on top is a reason I was perfectly willing to accept, honest.

Casino Street was twisted to help clear his debt and increase his expendable cash, and Splash Hill Zone was basically a "Oh great, Sonic's on his way here! Better hold him off!" stage for Eggman. And now Lost Labyrinth and Mad Gear will be explained in Episode 2.

:D

Ha ha! No, I've just finished reading the past 6 hours worth of posts and you were posting some positive things, so I thought you had been swayed a little :P

This actually looks quiet decent, can't wait for the next piece of gameplay to completely decredit it like all the other times before.

XD I want to like S4, and I really want E2 to be good. So if there's something positive about it, I'll say so (White Park as a trope, new badnik designs, visuals). Unfortunately the game as a whole is still a piece of crap. Every one thing it does well is overshadow by a thousand more meaningful things it does badly.

Yeah, same. I want to like it too, but I just can't with almost everything I've seen so far. The things you stated are the only things that have appealed to me so far, though I'd like a complete snow/ice level, rather than half of one.

There is three full acts in a zone right?. I personally hope the Boss 'Act 4' is bigger with more rings, at least the size of the CD Boss act. So 3 acts, more than enough to have your fill of a snow level. Honestly, I think having a level which is a cross between two ideas, snow and theme park is a great idea. At least SEGA are doing a bit different.

Yeah, I'm all for originality, but snow/ice levels have always been my favourites in Sonic games :)

With the map looking like they're connected, I'm wondering if lock-on will be included.

It would be a pretty cool feature too. Fixed physics + being able to play as Tails in Coop/Online?

The maps definitely are connected, with Ep II taking place east of the original's map

I'm betting on the oil refinery zone being in that area covered in clouds and I'm betting on either a level on the little planet or the sky fortress zone taking place in that open place above the sea (though another level may be hiding behind the clouds with the oil refinery)

Also Im too lazy to check if this was already pointed out yet but Metal Sonic's artwork is basically the modern version of his Generations artwork

Release date of Ep2: 1/5/2012 according to the sonicthehedgehog4 website!

Edit: Sorry guys, ignore the previous line which is completely WRONG!!!!!!!!

I should have clicked on the NEWS link on the s4 site which takes you to the SEGA site. I guess I truely am the hyper halfwit!

Okay, so I got the .swf file and have opened it up. Do you all want to know the secrets of what SEGA idiotically left on there this time?

I like how Metal Sonic's bio explains why Eggman didn't simply repair him after CD and use him in S3&K rather than creating Mecha Sonic. I guess that confirms that Knuckles Chaotix takes place after Sonic 4.

To say the least, I'm rather disappointed by this level of competency.

EDIT: Actually, that said I haven't found the little animated pictures of all the characters and Badniks yet...
