Okay no that's something no one needs to do, ever.

Its what he enjoys and its how he blows steam, we all have our different ways. Can't blame him for getting soo burned out by all the weight on his shoulders thats he is preferring that over working on SMBZ.

I may be shooting myself in the foot here, but I felt like sharing this.
As many of you know, on the 9th of October, it will officially be 4 years since I released Super Mario bros Z episode 8 to the masses. It'll also be almost 19 months since I officially laid SMBZ to rest.
But, with the assistance of a friend, I was able to reacquire Flash and felt like trying out sprite animation again to see if I could re-ignite my passion to work on the series. As practice, I remade the first scene of the first episode of SMBZ. After a few months working on and off, this is the result.
Don't take this as confirmation that I will be working on the series again, but if I did, I would like to remake the series from the ground up. There were numerous things in the older episodes that I felt could have been done better. Namely the fight scenes, the story and the godawful dialogue. Here are some of the key changes I would implement.

1: Mecha Sonic will be replaced by Metallix.
For a supposed upgrade to Metal Sonic, Mecha Sonic was a visual downgrade. The design for Metallix just looks more imposing than the original faceless design. Metallix was going to appear later in the series anyway as Mecha Sonic's perfect form after he got all the Chaos Emeralds.

2: The Pipe maze episode will be removed
The whole episode in general was filler suggested by a fan of the series because I didn't know what to do for the 5th Chaos Emerald. With that said, I feel it was poorly executed on my part. It was too dialogue heavy. It spouted out unnecessary exposition that had no bearing on the plot. And who can forget the ridiculous Deus Ex Machina moment with Kolorado's stopwatch. The 8-bit parts were kinda cool, but to me it couldn't save it from being a bad episode.

3: Captain Basilisx won't be in the remake
While Basilisx was well received by fans, I feel he was shoehorned into the plot. He just showed up out of nowhere with no backstory or buildup. I feel that also distracted from the anticipation of Mecha Mario's appearance and would have undermined the upcoming battle against the Koopalings.

For the time being, these are just ideas. I want to make sure that I would be willing and committed to work on this series again. I don't want to cancel it twice. Until then, enjoy the practice animation.

u wot mate

Does Bowser shoot first now?

we all know mario shot first

but lucas-earthworm will claim he didn't

regardless idk about remaking the series from scratch, and i doubt he'll actually go with it (finish it) thanks to the first breakdown the fandumb from the original series inflicted on him

but if he continues i will keep posted with interest and i will wish him luck

Hold up a fucking second. He had a breakdown?

The seemingly entitled fandumb's unceasing requests/demands of when the hypothetical next episode of the time would be released had caused him to (attempt) to cancel the original series multiple times, and arguably played a part of him getting disillusioned with the original series and officially cancelling it in the long run.

Though it's not so much a "creator breakdown" as it is "why fandom can't have nice things."

The fandom is extremely shitty and splooges their idiocy all over his dA page all the time.

Imagine what will happen if he actually shits all over those idiots by rebooting the series with fucking Metallix of all characters as the villain.

It's not really surprising that this series attracted a lot of fan dumb what with sitting itself firmly in the singularity of one of the worst possible fandom Venn diagrams. The only way I can imagine him making it harder on himself would be to include final fantasy or Zelda characters.

yeah the fans kept annoying him to make the next episode till the point where he wasnt interested in making it anymore. I wish him best of luck in what ever he does

That and most of his other(admittedly questionable) work was vastly overshadowed. I don't really blame him because like Phos said, he combined two series with some of the most retarded and whiny fans this side of the Internet.

I doubt he's gonna restart it(I sure as hell wouldn't) but if its something he wants to do, good luck.

Whoa, that's awesome. It's been way too long, the original series still holds a special place in my heart - dem fight scenes are just spectacular.

Looks like Alvin is going to begin the series anew, hence the "reboot"? Wouldn't have minded him to just continue where he left the original series off, but getting a new and improved version of the show also doesn't sound too shabby. Here's hoping the first episode releases not too far away from now :D

Judging by the intro, it seems Alvin is still going with the "Metal Sonic kills everyone except Sonic, Shadow and Eggman" backstory, which is a shame, because it's so unnecessarily grimdark.

Wasn't that meant to parallel the Future Trunks part of the Android/Cell Saga from DBZ?

I mean, that's what the entire thing is supposed to be an affectionate parody of, isn't it?

Well, yeah, but this is still Mario and Sonic that he's working with, and I don't remember SMBZ ever going anywhere near that dark otherwise (more often than not it's really goofy), so it sticks out and feels really bad-fanfiction-y.

It wouldn't even be hard for him to write it out, just have Metal beat them all up instead of killing them, and say there was only enough power to send two people to Mario's world. Then you don't have a goofy crossover fighting cartoon where Sonic is cracking jokes shortly after all of his friends were murdered.

Wow, I sure as hell did not see this series coming back anytime soon. This makes me very happy.

A reboot was probably the best choice here, I mean the last episode came out in 2009 for cryin' out loud. Anyways, I'm excited, and I look forward to whatever will result of this.

Yeah, but judging by the remake scene test's Metallix still being a trigger-happy psychopath, I dunno how Alvin would be able to justify him not creating a high bodycount on Mobius.

Frieza was known to blow up entire bloody planets on a whim but that didn't mean having to go into great detail about it even though they did it anyway in a side movie - it only took a few episodes to paint him as irredeemable Space Napoleo-Hitler and that was just through screwing around with the local townsfolk, which is saying a lot considering how much DBZ likes to pad seasons out.

You can still paint Metal as an asshole plenty fine without showing him systematically murdering everyone one-by-one in an over-explained backstory flashback.

Destroying cities and landmarks while people try to run away, perhaps? The Sonic Adventure series has moments like those (Chaos destroying Station Square, Eggman nuking Prison Island) without showing casualties - and those are dark Sonic plots done well.

at anyrate, glad SMBZ is back!

Same. Though honestly, I'm still kind of bummed that Tails and the rest of the gang are most likely gonna be killed off again because I'd really love to see how Alvin pulls off the rest sonic crew interacting with the Mario crew (like Amy and Peach or Tails and Luigi).

But I'm just happy this series has been revived.

I mean bringing back Sonic's friends is just asking for a bloated cast; he probably killed them off to keep things focused on Mario, Luigi, Sonic, and Shadow.

not that I agree with it.
