I had a (non-competitive) Flareon in Platinum for years before I discovered that everyone thought it sucked. It never really failed me before.

No I swear to god if Growlithe dies before I can get it to Arcanine, I'm contemplating should I evolve after it learns Flamethrower or wait till it learns Flare Blitz at Lv. 45.

Like Ragna said, it gets stupid past the generations. In Black and White it takes way longer for the Eeveelutions to learn fucking ANYTHING. They fixed that in Black and White 2.
