Best stage from Sonic Adventure

My favorite is Speed Highway. As much as City Zones are always dangerous, I love Speed Highway. It had sweet music, was fun, and was very memorable.

Also, it's in Sonic Generations :D

Ice Cap. I was really disappointed when they chose Speed Highway over this in Generations. Yes, Speed Highway is one of my favorites too, but I've always liked Ice Cap more.

I think Final Egg. Loved the music, had lots of precision platforming, segments of speed, hordes of badniks...

And despite being much shorter than the other levels she was in was my favorite level to play in as Amy.

Gotta be speed highway, it's fast. fun, has good music and you get chased by police while riding on helicopters!

And it's in Generations

which makes it just more fun biggrin.png

Twinkle Park definitely. The stage had a lot going for it. A sweet setting, lots of variety in gameplay (from Bumper Cars to Bowling), a bunch of hidden goodies, tons of visual flair, and a catchy soundtrack.

Don't tell me you didn't lose your shit when you fell into a goddamn rocket-coaster with this wailing in the background.

Because I did, and it was miraculous.

I have the fondest memories of Emerald Coast, to be quite honest! All the levels were great (although Casinopolis was a bit tiresome and sky deck made me nauseous O_o). Windy Valley and Lost World are also in my top because I loved Mystic Ruins in general.

This game definitly had some of the best and most varied stages in 3D Sonic games, I really can't decide which is my personal favorite.

But since I already said it on one of my pics...

For me its probably Lost World because I love the whole ancient ruin asthetic plus it has a whole bunch of sections full of different gameplay with a few neat puzzles. Second would be Sky Deck just because I love running across airships blowing huge turret cannons and such.

Isn't it weird that Sonic Adventure had such strange pacing through the levels? So many of them seemed to have an excitement curve of like:

     ___

__/ \__

Speed Highway, Lost World, Final Egg are probably the biggest examples of this.

It's weird, I want to cite it as an example of one of Sonic Adventure's many awkward design choices, but somehow they made it work...

Anyway, Speed Highway is my fave. I would have chosen Twinkle Park for Generations just for stage variety, but I cannot deny that Speed Highway is just THE coolest Sonic Adventure level, and one of the best in Generations through no act of coincidence.

My pick would be Speed Highway by far. I remember way back in the late '90s when it was they very first level they showed off, and I was completely blown away by it.

It's fast, it's intense, it has you running down the side of a really tall building (which was new and exciting at the time), and best of all: it actually has really good level design. As both Sonic and Tails there are quite a few alternate paths and little secrets to find. The music (both at night and and dawn) is also incredible.

Emerald Coast. I could just spend hours on that stage collecting rings, listening to the music or just admiring the scenery. I always have trouble finishing the stage since I can never get enough of the music. I just start running around the capsule at the end and enjoy the music. It also has clever little shortcuts and that whale chase sequence never gets old.

I'd also like to mention Hot Shelter. I absolutely adore the music in that one as well, especially Bad Taste Aquarium. And playing through that stage as Gamma is so much fun. biggrin.png

Emerald Coast as it was the demo level back in Toys 'R Us when I first played this game. Not only that, but I find it a very nice opener level with wonderful music, nice visuals, and dolphins. I just really liked this level.

Speed Highway because of awesome music, fun three section splits, and great bursts of speed. Running through this level is always fun and whenever I sit and play this game, Speed Highway is usually one of the first levels I decide to play.

Twinkle Park is alright, but I do very much like the music, especially since it uses a remixed version from Panic Puppet Zone. Also don't mind the theme and bright visuals. Same with Windy Valley and Green Grove throw back.

I'd say that mostly, for Final Egg, is because the "Crank Up the Heat!!" section is in the middle of the stage. It's fun and all. But. It's kinda jarring true. You get to this really fast climax feel in that segment, to be returned to the same visuals as the start of the stage. And it's slower. I mean I love Final Egg but even I can spot that as a big flaw ;P

Yeah, I have a pretty particular feeling about how a final stage in a Sonic game should end, and Final Egg is not an example that ever springs to mind. I mean it's not too bad, at least that final Light Dash is quick. There's also something amusing about the impression that you've broken through Eggman's final defense and are now sort of behind-the-scenes (since you go through Gamma's training grounds as the final section), but doesn't change the fact that it isn't that exciting. I wonder if Final Egg was MEANT to have a more tense Act 3 music but they ran out of time? Same for Sky Deck having three acts but only two songs between them...

Final Egg is pretty underwhelmong for a final stage. It doesnt even look like one, I feel like I'm just running through Eggman's werehouse or something.
