Hey, May 15th is my Birthday :.)

Anywho, I think I may actually consider buying Episode 2 and 1. I hope there's lock on.

The HUD is from Episode II, so maybe the physics could be taken from Episode II too?

Regarding Metal Sonic destroying Badniks in his run through the levels, it's not only time one of Eggman's machines would destroy some of Eggman's own army. Though canon would only hold this in two levels, Eggman had E-102 Gamma spare no one in his missions when it was still subservient to the doctor, having it ravage Emerald Coast and destroy Coconuts when it was looking for Froggy, and causing damage to Final Egg for a simple training simulation. He even had E-102 and E-101 fight each other right in front of him, fully expecting one to be a clear winner, and fully preparing to modify the loser of the battle.

Eggman just clearly plays favorites when it comes to his machines, but is completely apathetic to badniks that can't get the job done. What people would see as a waste of materials to have one of his machines destroy his robot arsenal, the egomaniacal man would just see it as an achievement that he was able to build lethal juggernauts like Metal Sonic and Gamma, and that he can place complete trust that his machines will get the job done, no matter what foe, or friend, gets in its way.

I'm anxious about what happens when he gets all the emeralds. I'd love a playable Super Metal Sonic

This. If there's only one thing in Episode Metal I'm excited about, is if Metal Sonic can achieve a Super form if he gathers all of the Chaos Emeralds.

Well, I'm sticking by my belief that the 4 exclusive levels will be the only levels and I doubt you'll be able to collect the Chaos Emeralds.

Wrote up the relevant parts of the Gamespot interview for easily going back to:

Ken: ...and it unlocks this whole new content where you're gonna be able to play as Metal Sonic, you're gonna go through some reworked stages from Episode 1 and sort of find that backstory about how Metal Sonic cam eback to life from Sonic CD. So that Episode Metal really bridges Episode 1, Sonic CD and Episode 2 altogether really nicely.

Other Guy: So it's not just we're going back to previous levels and dropping Metal Sonic in there-

Ken: No no no. There's definitely, umm, a purpose to everything. We're gonna find out how Metal Sonic comes back to life, um, the content's free that's the great thing about.

*Few minutes on*

Other Guy: Now can players expect to have the same number of stage in Ep2 and they did in Ep1?"

Ken: They can expect the same number of stages as far as zones are concerned but the zones are much more elbatorate this time around. The zones are actualy bigger, the acts themselves are longer. So I wanna say the game, even though it has the same amount of zones and acts is a much bigger game than Episode 1 was.

I think that's why this is here.

Any way, I can't wait for this to come out. The thing is, I have Episode I on Wii, so I need to somehow get it on Kindle Fire...

So he only goes through the E1 stages. That's kind of disappointing. At least the level layouts are different.

From Trunks on Retro:

Nice to know he's not just a reskin. Also rules out the idea we'll be playing through Stardust Speedway in EM.

Pretty cool honestly. Even if the graphics will still be "meh" I'm glad that pretty much everything is being redone. It seems to me as if this is the Sonic 4: "We're Sorry Edition"...

What if the "He plays differently" means "He has the Sonic 4 Ep. 1 physics and not the Ep. 2 physics"? :P

Why must you do this to me?!?! TT^TT

Him having the episode 1 physics would actually be consistent with his past appearances. Metal Sonic has always had extremely poor handling.

I love Episode 1 but can we not try to justify them not changing the physics in such a way? x_x

BSSZ EXCLUSIVE: Episode Metal Shorter Than We Think?

Sonic 4 spokesman and on-again-off-again moustache wearer Ken Balough has possibly dropped a bombshell regarding Episode Metal's length. Our sources confirmed that Ken spoke of Episode Metal in an interview and stated the following: "You're going to unlock about 25% more game". This percentage is interesting. Does Ken mean that Episode Metal is 25% the size of Episode 1? Episode 1 consisted of 17 acts. 25% of 17 is 4.25 acts. Episode Metal' teaser promised "Four Exclusive Levels". So with this in mind, I think Episode Metal will actually end up being very short. It will consist of four acts/levels, each act taking place within a different zone. Either the four zones found in Episode 1, or three Episode 1 zones and Stardust Speedway or an Episode 2 act.

Fans disappointed in this news may be happy to hear that: "There's more cutscenes in Episode Metal than all of Episode 2". So while Episode Metal may be short, it will have a good deal of story.

That seems plausible enough. 4 reworked levels for free seems pretty reasonable. I mean, a completely re-worked Episode 1 would've been epic, but for absolutely free, that did seem a little too good to be true.

Either way, hey, free Metal Sonic swag.

Sounds about right. I'm just curious about how "exclusive" those levels are though. They might just be E1 stages tweaked up to work better with E2 physics. There's absolutely no denying that EM areas match up perfectly with E1 areas. Like here and here, compared to here and here.

Pretty interesting, actually. We really have no idea what we're getting at this point.

To comment on myself, the comment now makes total sense with what the teaser stated. So we're not looking at all of Episode 1 with four new acts, we're looking at just four new acts.

However, I'll be honest, I wasn't too jazzed about the idea of playing all of Episode 1 again, 16/17 acts and all, with Metal. I prefer the idea of four all new acts, and the cutscenes sound cool.

Oh, right, I've been saying this the entire time and it was ignored. NOW you all react ;_;

Yeah, but I made it an exclusive and had sources.

I'm joking, of course. ;)

It's an unlikely idea to happen, but what if the Episode Metal stages were some of the Episode 1 Acts merged together, as if it's just one long zone-run sorta thing? Like maybe for instance Splash Hill's Act 1 leads directly into the Act 2 in Episode Metal (maybe with the Goal Post being swapped for a fancy checkpoint that cues the change of music, something like Sonic 3). That way the levels would still "technically" be exclusive, since they run longer and stuff.

...I dunno, just a thought I had about it is all. Chances are it won't be true and we'll just get two acts of Splash Hill an act of Lost Labyrinth and an act of Mad Gear (there isn't much point in going to Casino Street is there?).

Why is there any less point in going to Casino Street? It was a crappy level sure, but so were the rest.

Story-wise, it hasn't been shown to have any relevance. Sonic just passed through it on the way to Lost Labyrinth.

But I agree I'd be surprised if they didn't include it.

I hope we get some new music for Episode Metal or at least some light remixing.
