[COLLAB] The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012

Here's an early work-in-progress of my Poloy Forest mix. Figured I'd share it since I haven't contributed here in a while.

http://soundcloud.co...orest-remix-wip

Completely unfinished, still needs percussion, and synths need some tweaking, but I like the direction it's taking so far.

As for my 3D Blast Boss 2 remix, I started it, but I think I'm gonna restart. It sounds too much like a slightly updated version of the original, and I'm gonna try and make it something more unique.

Sweet I like this. Dat bass man. Very nice. Looking forward to hearing the final product!

After all this time I finally got to working on these remixes, here's a quick preview of "The Great Egg Robo". It still has a long way to go before I'm finished.

I realised why you said long way to go. Wait a minute, Jeff! Isn't DJ Ear already doing this? :o

And it's confirmed that me and Joshua (Nemo over here) are (mainly) doing Empire City Night Hub... but I can't say if that's all at the moment.

My submissions will be:

Escape from the City...SA2

Deep Woods...Black Knight

Blast Town...Riders

Ocean Base...Advance3

Death Egg...S3

Bomber Barbara...Rush

Sandstorm...Secret Rings

I've started work on a lil Hardstyle remix of Big Arms - but I've no plans to make that a submission unless I go goofy...Feel Free to enter a Big Arms tune.

Okay, do the songs for this album have to be serious? Because I'm seriously contemplating making a full version of this song with electronic instrumental, etc.... any thoughts?

Okay people, I'm now working on a remix of this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IZDsFMn4s0

But I can't get the piano chords down. Can anybody help with them or does anybody know what they are? thanks!

Even if I am a composing noob, those sound like chords I could figure out pretty easily. I'll get back to you on that.

EDIT: Eh... don't think I can do it. Ask Vizard. :/

Okay, I think it's time to show more of this.

I'm not too satisfied with it so far, but I can't quite put my finger on what I need to change. With that said, I'd appreciate any critique I can get!

WAY too much low-end - you need to either lower the bass, or boost your mids and highs.

Wow, I've been out of this for too long. Been unable to do much for 2 weeks due to illness - one week with a tooth extraction, another week with a stomach bug. So I guess I seem to be behind on everything as it is. >_<

Alas, let me say right here and now that I will have a track sent in by the end of the month. I have the arrangement fully realised; just need to tighten up some transitions and work on the production, and I consider it to be good to go. I should hopefully be more freed up after Halloween, so we'll see what we can do.

Also I am yoinking that Sonic Rush sample pack :D I don't know if I'd do a Rush track, but hey, could be useful.

Welcome to the SSMB!

I'm really sorry to tell you this, but for the most part, these just sound like straight MIDI files, and those aren't allowed.

1-No mash-ups, no MIDIs.

As for midis, which can end up being used from others, with or without permission, none of these are accepted. Any submissions of the sort will be rejected. If you're just starting out and you're using MIDIs, might want to consider beefing up your work.

Yeah...If you feel the need to, talk to VizardJeffhog (the head of this project) about your songs.

*facepalm* I have missed that part about the midis in the rules...I don't know how, but I guess I did. If midis aren't allowed then I am sorry, you can just disregard the songs.

As proof that I'm not dead, Hinchy and I made this:

Of course he did most of it, but I'll ask him if I can submit it to this project. Also wanna see if we can squeeze in a remix of Ice Cap.

I'm also gonna have to shorten my original list of songs I was hoping to do, due to my band really taking off and college being.. well, college. So what I've decided to do is a little metal-inspired instrumental of Sonic Boom, perhaps throwing in bits of It Doesn't Matter. Nothing too fancy, but I'd rather focus on doing one really good song than stretch myself too thin and pump out crap.

For the 2 people that are disappointed by this, from the bottom of my black-hole of a heart, I apologize, but I promise what I will end up putting out will be the best I can possibly make it.

Just a heads-up: You can use midis as a basis for your song, like using them as note tracks when working in a DAW

You just can't have the midis themselves be the submissions.

...right?

Yeah. MIDI files can be used as a base for songs, but you can't submit MIDI files.

Wait, if that is true, the songs I posted are acceptable? I didn't post straight up midis, I used them as the basis for the song. So...there's hope?

I'm not sure, since the songs sound way too close to MIDI files to be considered remixes. If anything, they sound like slight arrangements. Like I said before, try sending a message to the head of this project, VizardJeffhog, to ask about your songs.

OK. I'll do that. I hope he's reasonable.

P.S Just as a side note, if songs like the ones I posted aren't considered remixes, then a lot of remixes I have heard don't deserve the title of remix. 0.0

Thank you, and I'll try to change them up. And also, I got the midis from this website called VGM, they have midis posted in an archive, and as far as I know, they don't care if you use them. Only if you claim that the midi was your own creation, is when they care.

Unfortunately - Lot's of folks seem to think changing a few instruments and slowing the track down means they've remixed the original work.

-The reality is that said examples are such simple alterations that they don't constitute a "Remix" - as they are still far to similar to the original work, and therefore retain the copyrights of the original holder.

There has to be a SIGNIFICANT amount of alteration made to a piece to be considered a 'Remix' - something that YOU created and can claim rights to.
