Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed...!

Well for one thing, isn't there 3 Seaside Hill courses, 3 Casino levels, so on and so forth for every series? I mean it's bad enough they're using only using Sonic levels from Sonic Heroes, but then they go ahead pull that crap?

And the actual level design for a few of them is downright awful. Even when they plaster signs with big arrows on the walls telling you where to turn (Which is kind of a no-no in of itself), it's hard to react fast enough to actually turn and not slam against the wall without memorizing the stage. It's like that for a few stages, and then on some it's just really hard to visually see where you are supposed to go. And that fucking pirate ship level? Just... no.

The last game was pretty awful, though this one seems to be looking much better. Not quite sold on it just yet though.

Well, that's true for sure. You can say a lot of positive things about ASR, but this game also had some design flaws like the ones described above. I'm okay with some tracks being hard, but they still should be fair and good designed. So you can't play the Monkey Ball stages (I love them, by the way) with a casual player or a noob, for example. Even if he gets the best items in the world, he will be confused as hell and not reach the finish line in time. Hopefully Sumo does it better this time! Somehow I'm sure they will, the tracks in the vids I saw until now look good.

Hey, that level took some serious skill! Don't be hatin' just because it was a little bit challenging! :P

It was challenging, but it an unfair and almost cheap way. Especially when it came to the mobile version. But I wholeheartedly disagree with anyone saying the game was badly designed. It simply wasn't, and blew the genre king of Mario Kart Wii right out of the water.

Yes, because Mario Kart Wii is the genre King. Not the superior other editions (7 for example).

In all seriousness, I hated the pirate ship level. It felt really stupid to play and it was nearly impossible on the iOS version. The fact that drifting has to be near perfect unless you just stop just made it very sloppy to play. I wanted to throw my iPod across the room because of that last section.

Then there's the console versions, where you could skip the entire section!

...we are at 2 months from the game's release, and we still have to see:

- 7 uknown stages (including the shinobi one), the returning stages, Ocean View, Outrun Bay and some better and finalized view of Dream Valley and Graffiti City

- 8 characters

- The All Stars move

- Most of the soundtracks

- Something about the menus and the game modes

- WiiU, 3DS, PS Vita and iOS versions in motion

...some news please??? :(

What I mean is, didn't the Mario Kart series pretty much start the genre? Isn't MK Wii the best selling Mario Kart game ever? And wasn't it the main competition for ASR? That's what I'm getting at. MK Wii is pretty shit, but still reigns strong over any other kart racer regardless of quality.

PAX Prime was like a week ago. We had Gum and Avatar reveals then, so maybe we'll get something next week. S0L sad he's making a trailer with All-Star Moves in them if I remember right.

I wouldn't count Gum as a "reveal", we know that she is there, but we haven't seen her yet.

Tokyo Game Show. *Leaves*.

Wouldn't that depend on the game even getting a Japanese release? The original didn't, and S0L said before that it wasn't yet certain if it would.

SEGA's Power Drift pre-dated Super Mario Kart by nearly five years, yet nobody ever talks about it:

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Power_Drift

Admittedly, Mario Kart does a lot that Power Drift doesn't (weapons, the fact that it's a spinoff of a popular platformer), but it does have cartoonish kart racing and an emphasis on drifting. I don't know, I think Mario Kart gets too much praise when it comes to defining the genre. Especially since similar games came before.

Mario Kart Double Dash is the only game of the series I've actually enjoyed quite much (apart from MArio Kart 64). Mario Kart Wii is horrible. I remember seeing in the Bowser's castle level the lava with Nintendo 64 kind of textures. i was so horrified that I turned off the game. I find MKWii unappealing and not that funny to play.

I have yet to try Mario Kart 7 (I don't have a 3DS), and I'd gladly do If some of my friends let me try it, but after watching some gameplay footage, it seems really slow and not that addictive.

EDIT: I almost forgot to tell you about a dream I had last night. There was a new transformed trailer that unveiled a CHAO and the GIRAFFE from Madagascar playable.... 'nuff said -.-

Ironically, Mario Kart Wii has had better reception among critics and fans alike (Using Metacritic/Gamerankings as a source). I've got to say, I've had a ton of fun with MK Wii compared to SASR. Also, Mario Kart DS BLOWS SASR DS out of the water. SASR DS managed to turn a bunch of courses into a crap fest.

A bunch? All looked like crap, even the ones that slightly ressembled the consoles stages which where what? One Seaside Hill track?

The DS version of ASR had a questional, very MIDI-sounding soundtrack and ultimately did feel a lot more like a typical Mario Kart clone. For example, you couldn't fail a jump. They were all automatic. Approaching them at any speed would send you gliding over them no problem. And all the 'exclusive' courses paled in comparison to the rest of the courses in the game. I'd attribute it's problems to the fact it was a game being made for PS3 and 360 really, with a shrunk down version for the much less powerful DS on the side being developed simultaneously. I know we haven't seen the 3DS version of ASRT yet, but I expect it to be a lot better.

My personal pick were Jump Parade, Highway Zero, Ocean Ruin, and Bingo Party.

Still thinking HOTD may get the last track with a new one; the others have.

Double Dash sucked moose balls.

The only Mario Karts that were actually worth a damn were the original SNES one and MAYBE Mario Kart 64. Every game after that has been a horrible unbalanced molasses-fest with dumb items, exploding blue shells, lame boring tracks and cars that handled like bars of soap. Double Dash signified the series' descent into crapness with unimaginative track designs, slow-as-snails gameplay and unwieldy, awful handling on every single kart in the game. And I didn't expect much from the graphics but HOLY BALLS the graphics in this game were atrocious too. My 13 year old cousin has created smoother models in Maya under 30 minutes as part of his game design summer camp. It's pathetic that Nintendo couldn't be arsed to do better, even all the way up to MK Wii which also has bad graphics.

I make no apology for this, I absolutely HATE Mario Kart. So many other far superior kart racers have come out but they never truly take off because all people want is stuff from this garbage series simply because it has the Mario name. I really hope Sonic Racing is the series that kicks Mario in the overalls.

Weird, the Snes and 64 are the ones that look the most boring and bland to me alongside the GBA one.

The DS one on another hand is pretty good.

I have too agree that Mario Kart is way overrated just because it has Mario in the name when there are far superior kart games like Sonic & Sega and Crash Team Racing for example and then there are those fans that say that every Kart game is a Mario Kart rip-off and it sucks compared to it while the series haven't been that good for now.

I honestly think Mario Kart Wii is plenty fun despite it's problems. I really can't even bring myself to play any of the previous Mario Kart games since Wii came out. They're horribly dated and lack Dry Bones.

It's not like All-Stars Racing was perfect either when the majority of the Sonic tracks were total duds and bikes were hilariously overpowered. And really, if DLC is ever done like that again I will fucking rage.
