Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed...!

You know, looking at the trailer, I see that Sonic's spines rustle in the wind as he drives along.

I see those little details you guys put in. This is really a labor of love, isn't it? wink.png Bless you guys at Sumo.

Yeah I noticed that too. Its the little things that make a game more cool.

After reading the TSS preview, I think that I'll buy this once it comes out. I haven't gotten the original yet, so can anyone tell me if it's worth purchasing?

I'd say yes. With the constant vehicle changing in Transformed, I'm sure the two games will be quite different experiences, making owning both definitely worth it. It was a great game.

One thing I don't get... why did Beat swap his sweet-ass lowrider for a quadbike?

Don't that just Beat all.

I bought it four times (once on each platform of course XD) on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS. It's THAT good biggrin.png

So what other stages do you guys think we'll all see. I'm pulling for an Ecco or nights stage. And maybe some levels from sonic unleashed (Eggmanland anybody?).

It's well worth your money if you like kart racing games. WAAAAAY better than Mario Kart Wii IMO.

If an Unleashed stage makes it in then I hope it's either Windmill Isle, Rooftop Run (I know it came in Generations again but it'll be a pretty awesome stage to fly over) or Eggmanland.

I personally don't want any Unleashed stages...Colours has FAR more meat in terms of level concepts.

Man, I'm still so relieved that the 1st place attack item is not as stupid as the Blue Shell.

Mario Kart Wii is the worst Mario Kart of the series. So any decent kart racing game can beat it.

I'm getting this game on PS3 and Vita, so I'm owning two copies. Don't let me down Sumo, this game looks fantastic in the trailer. ^^

To tell you the truth, I enjoy Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing more than I enjoy Mario Kart.

While we're on the subject of tracks, I'd like to see either Sweet Mountain or Tropical Resort, I think those would do good as tracks.

Mario Kart Wii is the worst Mario Kart of the series.

Is it really? I've always liked it far more than Double Dash. My core issue with it is the shoddy Battle mode.

Speaking of which, Battle mode really has taken the back seat in a lot of more recent kart games. I understand that it's not the main gameplay but there's nothing wrong with having it and making it fun.

From what I remember of ASR1's battle mode it was pretty crappy anyway, mostly because the handling and drift mechanics were built in mind for a linear track rather than an open field. Though I guess that could be fixed by making the arenas a lot broader in scope so running into things is far less of a problem.

That said, a battle mode with arial dogfights involved is a pretty interesting concept, especially if you can reasonably find a way to cram all three fronts in.

Gotta have Casino Night. I'd love to see all those beautiful neon palm trees and buildings whizzing by me at blazing speeds.

I'd love to see Sarah Bryant in a Virtua Racing-branded F1 car, or Axel Steel in a police car. They'd be great additions.

Of course I'm more inclined to believe that my boy Vectorman is in this game so if he gets in I'll be more than satisfied.

I'd rather see Classic and Adventure series representation than more recent stuff (although Aquarium Park would look awesome), leaning more towards Classic levels that we have yet to see in full 3D. It would be a good opportunity to see the likes of Ice Cap, Hydrocity and/or Flying Battery, given the new approach.

I was in competition with Mario Kart Wii at the time, that's why I compared All-Stars Racing to it. I did enjoy MK Wii a whole lot more than Double Dash IMO.

I'm definitely giving two thumbs up for Hydrocity...the best water level in all Sonic games!! Well, that's up to opinion :)

Would you guys like to see a special tracks from Riders return? they were based on Sega themes similar (Sega Carnival and Sega Illusion) what do you think? would you like to see them return to ARST? I honestly loved these stages not only because they looked so vibrant and bold but I also loved the features which were added in those tracks, they were quite unique and very fun, they were my favourite stages in Riders, I actually hope they both make it to the sequel to All Stars Racing and hey they could be unlockables...

Has Jacky been cut? Wikipedia just says Akira is on?

I hope the Bonanza Bros haven't been cut, they were my most used SEGA characters, second after Banjo.

Basically:

1. Banjo.

2. Bonanza's.

3. Chu Chus.

Were my most used characters, and all I fear are in danger of not returning sad.png.

Be careful about using Wikipedia to get any information on a game like this. According to Wikipedia, Darth Vader and President Bush were both slated to appear in Zero Gravity. I don't remember them turning up in MY game.

This is looking seriously great; I'll have to sort out how many versions I'll get. Hopefully there'll be a demo on the 3DS like there was on the DS. (Curious how 3DS is a part of the spellchecker and DS is not.)

Would you guys like to see a special level where parts of the track are based on Sega themes similar to what the first and second games of Sonic Riders had (Sega Carnival and Sega Illusion) what do you think? would you like to see something similar to that in ARST?

I loved those stages, although I never did well because I was so busy looking around at things. Good place to put bits and pieces that don't make up a whole track or were cut from another one.

Yeah it is the worst Mario Kart overall. In fact, it's the first Mario Kart that really got me annoyed with its cheap AI. The AI with its blue shells, POW blocks and anything they can throw at you in 150cc and Mirror modes. The more you win your races, the more the AI gets stupidly silly. There is NOTHING you can do about it, as something like "bananas" you get while 1st, won't save you from your fate. It's more of a gamble than a skill. That's why I didn't finish Mirror mode. I gave up, and it's the first MK title I played that I haven't finished the GP.

The one I can't deny though, is its online mode was awesome. Too bad it wasn't perfect because of "friend codes" but what can they do about that.

I hope the AI in Transformed is the same as the first, not cheap as the AI in MKWii. And I'm relieved there's no "blue shell" in Transformed either. Can this game be actually better than MK7? Can't wait to find out. ^^

Thought of a random question for you S0L (though might teeter on too spoiler-ish so no harm done if so):

Will items work differently depending on your car's current transformation, or will it be a case of using the right weapons at the right time?

Was just thinking about how near useless banana-peels and green shells are in the air on Mario Kart 7, and how the boxing gloves and traffic cones might suffer the same fate in Transformed, especially if there may or may not be tracks entirely set in the air/water.

Let be honest the banana peels and green shells are useless in the ground as well.

I'm really liking how there's now an all star meter that you can raise up through out the race instead of giving it to the player that's dead last because that was one thing I didn't like about the first all-stars I never really got a chance to see everyone's all-star move

Question for S0L: Will the retro tracks also have remixed tracks, or will they just use their main themes from the first game?

In Superstars Tennis the Superstar move was a reward, in ASR1 it was a pitty gift for poor players. So glad ASR2 changed that. Shit players should learn to race well, not get the ability to see the coolest moves in the game due to their bad gaming skillz.

And this is what Mario Kart lacks.

Hmm, so they're talking about console exclusives and such now? S0L, if you really are as tremendous as we think you are, you'll have Banjo-Kazooie returning!
