Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed...!

Anyone wanna take bets on Miku coming out next month? When Miku's game is released?

End of August.

If PC fans end up getting her I'll be royally pissed since Project Diva is a Sony Exclusive game, Sony deserve a DLC character for how shite they were treated with the original all stars racing =P

I doubt very much that Sega paid attention to one idiot on their forums.

However... I am curious as to when the decision was made to censor the General. Was it June that the game came out? So, when did the backlash start to build upto noticable levels?

Well... Vocaloid is a music software for PC, so it would make sense for them to bring Miku to PC, but as an exclusive? That would be a dick move to Sony owners, but I could sorta see why they would do it; they wouldn't have to pay a fee to create DLC for Steam, but they would for a Home Console. Though it would be a totally cheap reason to do so.

Irrelevant.

If they end up making Miku because of her localized game, then they should offer it the platform it is exclusive to, Vocaloid is completely irrelevant when we're focusing on the new game and not the program she originates from.

Like don't you think PC got fucking enough? Throw someone else a bone for once, christ.

Since Miku has the distinction of being one of the poll-toppers, something that Willemus and Mr. Censored can't claim at all, have you ever considered that perhaps the poll-voters are not exclusively Sony owners?

They aren't exactly going to put Miku on 360/Steam/Wii U when her game isn't on any of those platforms, hence IF she was made she'd most likely be a Sony exclusive because of her localized game, this is why I don't even think she'll have a chance, it's probably someone else at the top of the poll.

Eh, we'll just have to agree to disagree on that subject as I'll stick to my guns and believe that Sega has enough commen sense to know that the otaku crowd is universal in the case of such a licensed character not of their hands. (On that note, just because Ralph's tie-in game was exclusive to Nintendo platforms didn't make him a Nintendo-exclusive character. Then again, he's a different can o' worms. And even that point is now made moot by Disney Infinity, so this bracket here amounts to nothing.)

So I suppose Danica's inclusion was the same can o' worms then, considering she was originally going to be an American exclusive, but with the small roster Sumo thought it'd be unfair to give Ralph and Danica only to America and have the other countries have 2 less characters to play as....

Just realized how bullshit this excuse actually was, because SEGA have no fucks to give about the PC edition getting 5 more characters over every other platform.

Besides if Miku is slated for DLC, I hope everyone BUT PC get her, just so I can watch them kick and scream and tantrum.

Since yer hellbent on not agreeing to disagreeing, the can of worms I was referencing was that the Sonic cameos in Ralph excused his multi-platform presence, and in case you haven't noticed my edited post, that excuse's now moot because of his presence in the multiplatform Disney Infinity, because Disney is hell-bent on showing that dosh-hoarder Bobby Kotick and his Skylanders who's boss. They're gonna show him who's boss because at least they didn't have to resort to raping Spyro the Dragon to make their first installment fly off the shelves. Ya heard that? What happened to poor Spyro and Crash? Now because of their losses, Sony doesn't have good mascots. Have do they have, Kratos? yeah sure, he's totally a family-friendly mascot. So family-friendly, I bet Germany had to censor him like how the Russians censored General Winter. Or Nolan North's 19435th character, Nathan Drake. A perfect Generic McDude mascot for the dudebros generation who need their regenerating health and cover-based shootbang and bad writing, all bad aspects of this gaming generation which were shot down 6 days ago by that glorious remake Rise of the Triad. Or perhaps Totally-Not-Ellen-Page from the Last of Us? Since when did Sony had to resort to ripping off Sega who did Totally-Not-Bruce-Willis in Dynamite Cop? No wonder why Playstation All-Stars failed, it doesn't have the same mascot appeal as Smash Bros. On the other hand, as popular as they are, not even Nintendo's fail-proof mascots are enough to save the Wii U from total financial embarassment that makes all other hardware manufacturers laugh at them. Yeah, the Wii U is as much of a sales failure as the Vita, giving Sega all the more reason to NOT add DLC to its version of All-Stars Racing; just ask Warner Bros., who outright said the Wii U version of Arkham Origins doesn't have multiplayer BECAUSE the Wii U is bombing. On the other hand, the Wii U is sparted complete global humiliation because at least it's not the anti-consumer and in-bed-with-the-NSA punching bag that is the Xbox One. Mattrick really blew his foot there, and we all know why. If the Xbox One wasnts to surprass its initial impressions even after the 180, they need cards. Trading Cards. Xbox One trading cards. Steam trading cards. But they still won't be Pokémon cards, and as popular as they are, not even Nintendo's fail-proof Pokémon cards are enough to save the Wii U from total financial embarassment that makes all other hardware manufacturers laugh at them. And with that, pow, I'm out of this topic. Edited by Pikawil

*snip*

What does all this have to do with anything? Doesn't matter how you slice it, Project Diva is a Sony Exclusive so having Miku as a DLC racer only available on PSP/PS3 makes a whole lot of sense, this is the reason I don't see Miku actually scoring a place, it's probably Ryo or someone else if they have anything planned.

Don't even know why you're talking about Sony Exclusives or even Xbox One :l This is about DLC racer's console owners aren't getting, just expressing that if Miku is actually going to be released as a racer, I'll be incredibly angry and sour about it if consoles are skipped yet again.

As much sense as it would be to see Miku exclusive to Sony consoles, does Sega want to take the risk of cutting off potential profits? I mean PC seems to get all the attention and Wii U and 360 owners could still raise a lot of money. Plus, this wouldnt exactly be the first time a console exclusive character has appeared on a multi console game. Phoenix Wright(before going on Apple devices) being in UMvC3 is a good example of this. I'm sure there are others, but I'm to tired to think of any. Not to mention Miku is owned by Sega, not Sony iirc, so they could do want they want with her anyways.

I say that they should release Miku on the PC, give her and three more characters a stage and then put it as a bundle on the consoles, 6 characters + 4 stages to make a new cup for about £5-8, it's a steal! Especially since they'd be making a profit (they were released free on the PC version)

Would anyone like to talk about all the little details in the tracks that we usually miss that we all like?

I'd just... really like to talk about something other than characters?

I recently upgraded from low quality models to high quality, at the cost of some resolution. Turns out I was missing out on a whole heap of extra detail! Like the hot air balloons in Samba Studios, the monkeys in Temple Trouble or the reptile creature at the end of Adder's Lair. Details like this add so much life to the tracks.

The outrage over the Soviet emblem is by no means crazy. While I don't support censorship, let us put this in perspective.

Imagine there's a game with a German general. He has a swastika on his tank. You'd be fairly offended most likely, yes? And while you might not call for its removal, I assume many - especially Germans and Austrians - probably would. And indeed look over games with World War II German forces - they almost always replace the swastika with some other symbol like the Iron Cross to say "these are just the soldiers, not the Party."

Stalin's regime brutally murdered more people than Hitler's and sent countless more people to slave labor camps in the form of the gulags; those who weren't killed or enslaved for life had their rights enormously trampled and had to live in constant fear of being next. The Soviets under Stalin conquered all of Eastern Europe and imposed puppet regimes on it, and for several decades these regimes likewise inflicted their own atrocities. Beyond Europe, the Stalinist variant of Communism spread around the world and has left a black mark on all socialist ideology in the common mind to this day; the only reason Stalin and his cronies were never tried for crimes like the Nazis and Japanese military leadership was because they were on the winning team. If you happened to live in one of these countries... why yes, you'd get pretty offended, most likely.

Most of us were fortunate enough to never really live under Stalinism, so the Nazis get the credit for being the great evil of history. Cultural context is important; it's the same reason a Japanese person might get offended at a nuclear bomb depiction, or a Chinese person might be sensitive about depictions of Imperial Japan, or an American over 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

So... while I don't agree with censoring General Winter, from a cultural context (and thus, business) perspective I do not blame it for being changed, as it is in effect no different from a glorification of Al-Qaeda or Nazism to some cultures.

Now, on the topic of stages...

Well, I'm hoping for something Rome-themed, really. I... actually don't play many SEGA titles, so I'm kind of ignorant of extra-Sonic titles.

I like Rhaknam, the Arcwhale, in the Skies of Arcadia stage. He can be seen flying around in the lower clouds, and he was apparently a special request from the SoA creator.

rhacknam.jpg

He's very accurately recreated. Everything in that level is, but I didn't actually realize how great of a job they did with that stage until I replayed Skies a few months back.

There's actually an impressive amount of details in a lot of the stages... shame you can't really look at them all, given the competition. I didn't notice the whale until about a week ago, actually... I was all, "..wait what? Why the hell is there a whale flying around in the sky? Whaaaat?!"

A space channel stage would be awesome if you ask me. We've been long overdue for one. All that neon and color. Driving around the inside of the ship and then outside of it. YES.

That ain't all of that stage.

- If one pays attention to the sky, you'll see Moonstones fallen from the sky.

- Aside from the Albatoss and the Delphinus, theirs Bellenza's ship which appears around the second and third lap.

- On PC only, the Hydra (the giant air fortress) fires it's main cannon destroying the one island.

- On the 3rd lap during the last section, you can spot a small Valuan Gunboat.

I know we've brought him up before since I think I was the one who first spotted him in the Vita version.

But I quite like how in Adders Lair theres one of the elfs wandering around a section of the track, just can't remember if he's in the PS360 version or not.

I know he's in the Vita and the PC version, not sure on the Wii U... ... wait... anyone able to check the 3DS version?

Edit: He is in the Wii U version.

PC running at as good as/highest settings

I call him Billy... as I like to pretend it's Billy Hatcher in a disguise.

Edit 2: Did we ever find out if he was in the PS360 version? Or 3DS version?

This.

x1000.

Alright, tracks. There was at least some considered after the game was released? And if yes, it was from a IP that isn't in the game?
