Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed...!

Well... since we can ask about things already revealed my only question is how the All-star gauge works with those star pick-ups. I can see the transformations are automatic, wich is a good thing. I could see some shortcuts when you could only use one vehicle, but one time or another youre probably gonna be forced to change.

another question is... are we seeing 16 completely different tracks (barring the 4 returning) from different levels, not from different parts of the SAME level?

and will the 4 returning courses from ASR1 be given a make over to incorporate the new gameplay mechanics of vehicle transformation etc.?

I would love to see Ristar as a playable, because this guy is kind of forgotten by some people, and he didn't had the spotlight to be a playable since 17 years. It would make me so excited if Ristar ever appears as a playable, So many hopes for Ristar as a playable.

Aww, when I watched the reveal trailer, and Sonics car changed, I wanted to hear this.

Can't wait for further details. ^-^

I can see potential stages to be included: Death Egg: confirmed Seaside Hill: not that excited about it, but having water and beeing that popular, I think we will see this stage in a whole new fashion once again Casino Night: hinted at...the casino environment is pretty original, add some water, and there you go Chemical Plant: hinted, has water, it is mainly reproduced in Generations, so highly possible Ice Cap/Winter Park: loving both, but the latter might be more original. Ice + water :P Windmill Isle: my personal favourite as for the other stages, we know 4 returnings a Jet Set Radio Death Egg ? ? 2 new ones Super Monkey Ball Panzer Dragoon also I hope 1 stage for each franchise NiGHTS Golden Axe Bayonetta Skies of Arcadia House of the Dead Phantasy Star Billi Hatcher (the lava one) Samba de Amigo Crazy Taxi (San Francisco themed) Ristar Shenmue (Guilin or Yokozuka Harbour) Shinobi (3ds first level, ninja tribe) as for characters, I'd like to have a strong number of 40 Sonic ones: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, Shadow, Big, Metal Sonic, Blaze, Chaotix returnings: Ryo, Amigo, Aiai, Ulala, Beat, Billy, BD Joe, ChuChu's, Alex Kidd, new: Gilius, Vyse, NiGHTS, Sarah Bryant, Bayonetta, Ristar, Vectorman, Jack Cayman, Jiro Musashi, Arle&Carbuncle, Toejam&Earl, Orta secret: Ecco, Hornet, Segata Sanshiro

for god sake, stop posting your lists, Sol has just said there is no point, all the roster is set in stone already we just have to wait, and i'm sick of seeing your list posts everywhere, i think its all i see you post you know?

Just because the game's tracks and characters are already decided, doesn't mean we can't say what we hope for.

Remember when those toy details leaked? I wonder if Green Hill, Chemical Plant and Casino Street (yes Street, not Night) are three of the Sonic tracks in the game?

Let's not backseat mod here.

That said BlueHedgehog92, I have warned you for continuous list posting, as well as given you a strike for not abiding by your warning. If you keep this up and don't contribute to anything valuable and post generic lists, I will have to impose more severe punishment. This is a message board for discussion, not a hit list journal.

So...

I'll take some questions then - but a few ground rules...

1. Can't talk about anything you've not seen. So can't discuss other tracks, characters, modes etc etc etc.

2. I don't have a lot of free time, I'm busy working to get the game done! Be patient, I'll try and answer everything I can, but I do have plenty of other things to keep my busy tongue.png

3. Won't comment on rumours, other than to say some I've seen are quite wrong. You'll have to figure out what I'm talking about in these cases tongue.png

Other than that. Go for it. Maybe you should start a seperate thread about characters. Especially as the roster is locked and no amount of begging, shouting, crying or bribary will have any effect, so you're wasting time doing them in this thread smile.png

Oh darn, I was going to ask if the Sonic tracks were a bit more varied, being that almost every track in ASR was from Sonic Heroes (minus Death Egg). Anyway I'm glad to see that this is coming along nicely. Hope everything turns out well for you guys =D

Let's hope not. I still think those would be the worst choices.

Eh, can't say I'm all that interested in it at the moment. Wasn't with the original either, but I picked that up about two years later at £10.

Too similar to the stages in ASR and/or recently represented in Generations. I wouldn't be bother about them if that's what we have in addition to other new Sonic stages though.

yes, i agree possibly having chemical plant as a level, you have the racing along pipes, and racing across the mega mack for boats, and in Generations Sonic spent a good amount of time in the air so flying and avoiding the explosions and smoke stacks seems possible

casino street to give yet another nod to Sonic 4 is obvious.

i'm just hoping it isn't going to be 3 tracks based from the same level with the same scenery etc.

with the new engine and transformation, the tracks will have to be scaled in size compared to ASR so having a track based off 1 level, then another level from the same franchise would be much better.

racing through seaside hill 3 times was a bit repetitive sometimes.

No Wii U version? sad.png

I really hope there is. Probably an embargo as the Wii U's launch line-ups being announced at E3 this year.

Yeah I'd be totally fine with reusing assets from Generations for a few Sonic tracks if it means we can have all different ones instead of three of the same envioronment like last time.

I really hope Nights is playable and I hope they have more new tracks, I'm wishing for a variety, now for the Sonic levels, I still hope the rumor about Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant included as main Sonic tracks aren't true, I mean as awesome as it would be they have already been used for Generations, not saying it would be a bad thing but to be fair there are a lot of other levels from other Sonic games which haven't been used and it would be even more inetersting if we could see a unique transformation from different levels from a mixture of games and to be hoenst I actually don't want to play three levels from the same game for each cup again with almost the same scenery, similar design and background.

Why is Sonic in a car?

*Car transforms into boat*

Sonic: Problem? cool.png

But now being serious, I actually can't wait!

Well after reading the article I must say I'm impressed already. They took something and made it innovated which is a big plus in my book.

Panzer Dragoon track? Excuse me while I hype this.

It won't be. Each track will be unique. So while there may be a Chemical Plant track (using that as an example) there will only be one of them. The three variations now comes in the vehicle modes within each track. The game is said to have 16 tracks (that does not include arenas). When you think about it, that is a load of content. 16 tracks, each unique and with multiple vehicle modes. By comparison, ASR1 only had 12 unique locations, and even then, Monkey Ball were all kind of similar, so you could argue 10.

Eurogamer Preview "The Saviour of Arcade Racers"

  • 27 characters (original had 21 + Metal, Mii, Avatar, Ryo F and Banjo)
  • It's this years "big Sonic title". How great is it that something like this, gets that attention?
  • Huge budget
  • Can't confirm of deny Wii U
  • They mention Akira, but it's not really clear if he's in Transformed
  • "These 27 characters will be unlocked in a new single-player adventure mode which is "inspired by games like Mario Galaxy"
  • Each character can be levelled up through five ranks. Filling up the All-Star gauge with on-track moves earns you XP as well as granting access to your character's All-Star power; each level unlocks stickers and achievements as well as perk-style vehicle mods which can be equipped to alter the handling characteristics of your favourite characters.
  • As few Mario Kart item clones as possible

hmm... the single player adventure is inspired by gamea like mario galaxy? i don't get it. Anybody care to elaborate on what that could mean?

I would have liked more characters, but eh. There could be 100 characters and I'd still be saying that. 27 is more than enough really. I love the the fact that a title such as this is the big Sonic game of the year. British made, and a nice little break from the main series. We already know how successful the original must have been so that would explain the budget for this one with it's larger roster, hook that involves everything about the races and the inclusion of a story mode. All in all it just sounds great. Can't wait to hear the music.

...Darn. It's already starting to look better than every Mario Kart game ever. It's getting to be rather difficult to not get excited over this.

Remember too that since flying is now in, they'll definitely mine SEGA's past for flight based games. So After Burner, NiGHTS and Space Harrier are all possible and likely (two of the three were in Superstars Tennis)

Ooh ooh! And how about this as a track?
