If they want to do classic Sonic stages then Starlight, Metropolis, Ice Cap and Flying Battery would be my preferences.

Also, where was it confirmed the Death Egg was returning? Looks like Metal might return as well.

I highly doubt we'll see Green Hill and Chemical plant as tracks since they already got an hd makeover in generations. Since the death egg is making a comeback I think that will be the track where the cars will fly. As for a track where the cars turn into boats I would really like to see something like hydrocity or Aquarium Park. As for the regular ground tracks I would like to see something like Ice Cap or grand metropolis.

I really am hoping for Green Hill Zone. I know that we already had Seaside Hill, but a racing game with Sonic representation has to have the traditional tropical greenery level, and GHZ fits the bill quite well! Chemical Plant and Casino Street are awesome, too.

Anything but Green Hill or Seaside Hill. Fuck, I'm so sick of those stages. There's plenty of other options that fit the bill of "iconic, tropical Sonic stage". Ideally we'd have nothing from Generations, ASR or SST. And I swear to God, if we get Splash Hill...! *shakes fist*

Also, the Super Monkey Ball track is among the returning tracks, so I'd move that to the "retro" section and perhaps rename that section "returning" or "remixed". Retro implies something else.

I would love to see Starlight Carnival in this game as a flight heavy stage with some land racing. I say flight heavy because of how awesome the light shows will be whilst you're flying with the mulitcoloured airships, not to mention it's set in space. The land racing will obviously take place on the light roads.

Starlight Carnival will be the perfect stage to showcase the Starlight Engine's lighting effects, it'll just be pure EYE CANDY!

Emerald Hill and Palmtree Panic are almost exactly the same as Green Hill... what are you smoking?

Add me to the group who doesn't want GH or CP in there. Seeing as how they just got a big HD makeover, I doubt the tracks would look much different outside of adding some more water. Casino Night would be better, as it was only HD in pinball form and I haven't played the 3DS version, but still, I'd rather get some stages that haven't been seen in a while.

If anything I think I'd like to see Sonic tracks from multiple eras. If I had to pick one from each era, I'd go with Lava Reef (which could lead into Hidden Palace as the race progresses), Lost World (because I am fucking DYING to see it in HD), and probably Eggmanland (which has potential to add variables across the 3 laps). We might get more Sonic stages than that, so my second choices would be Mystic Cave, Pyramid Cave, and Aquarium Park.

As for the other franchises, I'll take anything new, really. Hopefully Golden Axe will get a track.

They aren't Green Hill though. Emerald Hill has a far more floral background, the glowing caves and several other differences to make it unique. And Palmtree Panic... you're right. It's exactly the same as Green Hill. Yup. Nothing interesting about the whole time travel gimmick. It's just Green Hill with triangles.

Uh, yeah, it is exactly the same as Green Hill. It's a waterfront area with mountains and waterfalls visible in the background. The mountains are even the same shape. There's like a new bush here and there. I don't see it looking any different from Green Hill if it were updated into HD. And are you saying you'd want it in the game complete with time travel gimmick? Because that would be an adventure and a half, spending all that time and effort into making 4 different versions of the same stage.

I think Chemical Plant could be a cool track. Would definitely be up to see Sumo's take on a level that hasn't received the HD makeover in recent times, but they could definitely do Chemical Plant a ton of justice.

As Sonic fans, we see Green Hill all the time, but for the demographic of a game like this (referring strictly to the younger crowds interviews have been mentioning), they may not be as used to seeing it as much as folks like us do. Green Hill is a usual crowd pleaser and while I'd much rather see something else, I'll totally understand if that winds up being in the game.

Aside from those two points, I think I'd be cool with seeing just about anything. What I think would be really cool, is if there was a stage like SEGA Carnival from Sonic Riders. Maybe a series can't provide quite enough for a full track? No big deal. Just lump a few into one course, or simply have a mash-up track. 3 laps, and each lap represents a particular series. For example, I think a Chu Chu Rocket stage could be really neat, but can admit a full course on that wouldn't work very well. As just one lap though, it could be great. Plus, that means more representation! (Though I do fully realize that is potentially even more work than any other stage, due to assets creation et al). Anywhoo, I'll stop rambling.

Wow. No. I don't think anyone would be daft enough to suggest that.

I'm saying there's plenty of opportunities to make such a stage interesting. Remember Digital Dimension in Riders, and how different parts of the track looked totally different? And besides that, why are you even making such a big deal about a list of suggestion for Green Hill alternatives? The idea is that they're just, well, ideas.

I think Green Hill, Chemical Plant and Casino Street (with the option to play Modern Casino Night as a theme) are actually fair choices.

Levels I'd really like to see are:

Emerald Coast: wonderful beach place with sand, wood bridges and whales

White Park: a snow level is always welcomed, and we also have the carnival element :)

Crystal Castle (NiGHTS JoD): simply the best of JoD levels, and adding a bit more variety with the crystals element

Tween Seeds (NiGHTS Into Dreams): magic city track at night with on air roads

I'd also like to see a Medieval track inspired from Golden Axe, a Lava level, and the San Francisco inspired City from Crazy Taxi

Hey here one. Stardust Speedway. Especially if it the Bad Future. Seriously Sonic CD needs more "modern" Love.

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!

Considering that in the last game each track had three different sections I think this could work out perfectly! We could have past, present, and good future versions as tracks. To be honest I really don't want to see the bad future since we already saw it in generations. I would like to see an option to play the bad futures music however.

But the wonky physics would fit perfectly!

Honestly, I agree. I'd rather have something OTHER than Green Hill in the game.

An ice-themed level would be mighty sweet, like Ice Cap or Diamond Dust. You could be driving on a frozen lake one lap, then it could crack the next and you'd have to race on water. And there could even been low friction on the ice! Think of the physics!=O

As for games that they could base stages off, what about Knuckles Chaotix? A Speed Slider track would be awesome, and give Knuckles his own stage.

I'd like to see one Unleashed track. Perfect choice for this game would be Apotos. It could use all 3 modes: Normal mode while riding through white city, Boat mode while swimming in the ocean and Air mode while flying around Apotos' cliffs.

I think they should use Angel Island instead of Green Hill because Angel Island is pretty much Green Hill clone + jungle.

I'd really like to see Egg Fleet as a track in the game, they could make great use of the flying gimmick.
