I think Sunshine Tour was quite possibly the best track in the last game. I hope the new SDA track is like that.

The Tokyo Underground Sewage Facility from JSRF. I can see it, lots of twists and turns, crazy jumps, sludge everywhere, Poison Jam throwing crap at you (with "The Scrappy" playing in the background)

Yeah, that'd be cool.

Oil Ocean Zone would be neat too.

Fire could be a hazard, you'd be able to boat through oil vats but have to watch out because fire could ignite the whole thing.

Of course this brings up the question of how an open flame wouldn't blow up the whole facility and create an explosion visible from space, but... eh.

What stages do you think will return? I'm pretty sure a lot of the unlockable stages will be out. With maybe the exception of one of the seaside hill stages. Sambe de amigo stages also seem likely.

Steve Lycett said " Wait till you see a level with fully dynamic lights..."

Im thinking starlight carnival from sonic colors, or casino night zone, i'd rather have starlight carnival instead.

so he may be taking about casino night zone.

If he wants to show us a stage with fully dynamic lights... I think that may mean we might see a track set during a thunderstorm. It's dark and rainy and bright flashes of lightning light up the course sometimes. That would be super cool.

I think this would be best suited for a House of the Dead or Eggmanland track.

hey, what about having tracks splitted into categories?

Like Water Tracks, Air Tracks, Ground Tracks and All Around Tracks

All the tracks exists in 3 types

for example (I use three example as place holders)

Emerald Coast --> Water Track

you could switch 3 options

A: Water 50% Ground 50%

B: Water 60% Ground 20% Air 20%

C: Water 100%

Twin Seeds --> Air Track

A: Ground 50% Air 50%

B: Air 60% Ground 20% Water 20%

C: Air 100%

Rooftop Run --> Ground Track

A: Ground 50 % Air 50%

B: Ground 60% Air 20% Water 20%

C: Ground 100%

Panzer Dragoon Track --> All Around Track

A: Ground = Air = Water

B: Ground 60 % Air 20% Water 20 %

C: Air 60%...

what do u think?

As long as I'm on my Altered Beast kick (from the Racer Roster thread), why not an Altered Beast stage:

The Altered Beast-themed track would represent the first level in the original Altered Beast game—the Roman graveyard. If possible, a semi-transparent Zeus should appear after the race starts. The track, optimally, would have quite a number of hazard sections. One section would have the random monoliths/tombs spring from the dirt, another could be akin to “Curien’s Mansion” tracks from the first S&SASR where you have your undead walking around, and finally towards the end you would race past Aggar—the first transformation of Neff. Aggar would throw his regenerating heads, causing racers to wipe-out if they aren’t careful. The water sections would be on a marsh and the flying sections would be a brief gap between tracks—perhaps showing the underworld that the Centurion(s) descend into after each successful level completion.

I would actually love to see sort of remixes of tracks from classic Sega racing games, as a way to represent them without having to worry about car brand licenses. Tracks from Daytona USA 1 and 2, Scud Race, Outrun, Virtua Racing, Sega Rally etc but with added flight and water sections where needed. Seaside street galaxy would be best for a Daytona track as it's quite long and already has quite a few Sega references in it. Seeing these tracks remade with new graphics would be bliss. Power Drift would be a really cool one to do as that was a kart racing game with crazy track design!

Also:

* Flight only Space Harrier track. With all the enemies and trees!

* Fantasy Zone track with land and flight. Have some of the enemies and bosses attacking here and there.

* If Toejam and Earl get in, a track based on Planet Funkotron (from the sequel) would be nice, complete with a Funk-o-tron zone area where everything goes all squiggly and psychedelic.

* Sonic wise it'd be nice to see zones less predictable than the usual Sonic 1/2/Heroes picks. Something from Sonic CD would be nice and colourful, or hell even remake and improve a track from Sonic R if you like! Either way something that wasn't done already in Generations or previous all-star games.

If they widen some of the paths on Modern Green Hill they have a track! All the way to the trick jump into the waterfall is ground, then you transform into a plane and fly through the cave or into a boat and go through the bottom. Then you go back to the land where the 2D part is but it is in 3D and the track is wider and you carry on in land until you transform back into a plane to fly through the loop and you land in water and sail to where the Goal ring usually is but Instead of ending there, there i8s a new section that wasn't in Generations to loop it back to the start ( can't think of how the section would play but it would have to be fun and imaginative and not just a large turn or straight).

Apart from SEGA Carnival , Illusion and Jungle Joyride, my other choices would be Twinkle Park (same reasons for the SEGA themed levels) and also Sky Deck and Green Forest( like Jungle Joyride, I think this could also work well with the games mechanics. (I Thought Hang Castle and Egg Fleet would of been great levels but the thing is we already had levels from Heroes in the first game) but if they included any of the levels above then I would be happy. (EDIT - Now thinking about it, Sky Deck would probably work better as a battle arena for multiplayer due to lack of water sections but I still think it could work as a level, guess it probably won't be in ASRT but I can dream).

I don't think Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone can be mutually exclusive levels because Space Harrier takes place IN the Fantasy Zone. So I think FZ will have one track that encompasses everything. It's just as well because it's one of the more iconic locations in Sega games.

I don't know much about NiGHTS but since it's safe to assume he's in this game I'm guessing there'll also be a Nightopia track. Of course it would have to be set at night because it makes sense and I think there should be more night courses anyways. Perhaps even during a snowfall to reference Christmas NiGHTS.

I want a Vectorman track just for the sole purpose of having Vectorman music in the game. Unfortunately I don't think there's many recognizable locations in his game to choose from. I'd say Terraport but that seems pretty generic. It'd necessarily be a mostly-flying stage since it takes place in the sky and all. Personally I don't think it's enough unless they make some major adjustments.

Perhaps a Turtle Village stage from Golden Axe? I don't know much about Phantasy Star, what locations does that have that can be represented?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want to see Green Hill and Chemical Plant again. I feel like Casino Street Zone being singled out is no different that Casino Night, since it's EXACTLY THE SAME.

Let's get some Hydrocity, Lava Reef, Angel Island, ANYTHING THAT'S NOT FROM GENERATIONS!

NiGHTS track needs to be either Soft Museum or Spring Valley. Nothing from JoD, that game was ass.

If the Panzer Dragoon and Monkey Ball tracks are any indication maybe the tracks this time around are more "generalizations" around the concept of a game instead of being anything specific. For example instead of Green Hill Zone we'd end up seeing a stage themed around Sonic's love of waterfront areas with checker patterns and loops everywhere, and stages themed around Eggman's love of industrial factories and casino gaming. The existence of water in the Monkey Ball track proves that they're taking liberties and focusing around the "general themes" of games instead of specific locations from games.

Of course even if they do take specific areas like Green Hill it doesn't matter to me because the environments in the last game were unbelievably beautiful and it looks to be the same deal here. So I'll be more than glad to see Green Hill fleshed out in a gorgeous and realistic fashion.

Well, I can't argue with that. Sounds good to me.

Just hope there's something to set the Green Hill stage apart from...you know...every fucking Generic Hill Zone ever. Like, throw in some Mushroom Hill sections or maybe even a little Mecha Green Hill love.

Josh has a point. Maybe they'll just end up giving us some Sonic"ish" stages, and not specific ones

Maybe something like a Green/Water Stage: a Mix between Green Hill, Emerald Coast and Seaside Hill. Whales and Bridges like Emerald Coast and some architeture from Seaside Hill. a Casino Stage, a Factory Stage (they're using Death Egg, so add some Chemical Plant/ EggmanLand references). an Ice Level, which is kind of generic, but I'd like to see some White Park stuff.

In the end I think about a City Themed stage: Rooftop Run with carnival elements would be nice to see . Gosh, If u think about it, the number of possible combination is infinite...seeing the stunning Temple Trouble and Dragon Ruin (If I recall) I believe we will all be amazed. I honestly don't care about how many Sonic Stages are going to be in this game, I'd be fine with 5-6, but only if they are a lot varied and cover a lot of different "themes"

Why do the ice and city levels have to be based on Sonic? The city level will obviously be based on JSR. Ice level could be anything.

The way I see it Sonic should only cover 3 or 4 levels especially if there's only 16 this time and each one is supposed to represent a different franchise. So, waterfront level, casino level, industrial level and something else (maybe ice level if there's no other franchise to cover it). All in all I see much potential for greater variety this time around since franchises only get 1 course each instead of 3.

Maybe they just start putting out courses that don't fall into any particular category. I know my Tomato Mart level idea doesn't fall into any category, and Sumo is full of way more professional and imaginative guys than the likes of me. What if the tracks simply don't have categories anymore?

Speaking of the Tomato Mart track I had another idea possibly for a track themed on You Arcade. You drive into the screen of the giant Space Harrier machine and what ensues is a flying section that looks like Space Harrier, and then once you exit the machine you fly past the dartboards into the screen of the giant Hang-On machine and you turn back into a car for a section that looks like Hang-On! God damn wouldn't that be awesome. Maybe even put this in the Tomato Mart level.

Ahem, well anyways.

just pointing out that the Panzer Dragoon stage is a mixture of the original game with Orta influence so Josh could possibly be onto something with taking obvious tropes and familiar landmarks from the levels we remember and ultimately creating a stage of mash up levels from one IP, so we might not be getting set stages, but rather a goody bag of similar things that we can all go "Oh hey, look its Greenhill Zone's Loop de Loops!, and Mushrooms from Mushroom hill? awesome!"

who knows they may even have a single track based around more than one IP, kinda like SEGA Carnival in the Riders game. whilst other tracks can be based around one entire level, remember S0L said that all the tracks may not be accessible to all 3 gameplay mechanics, some tracks may only have Flight or Water, or could have land and sea but no air etc.

i know the more i think about it, the more i want it... well played Sumo Digital Well played...

on the NiGHTS front there's actually Twin Seeds which would work perfectly. 60% on sky entering NiGHTS ish circles and drifting around the Big Ben kind of tower in sky roads...and Reala + Wiseman cameo :) for variety there's also Crystal Castle which is quite unique.

I find Tomato Mart + You Arcade the best idea ever, and I'll add Yokozuka Harbor as Arena with Forklift tossing you out

I also hope to a see "crazy" Crazy taxi level with San Francisco reference as well as some more stuff like Mall section or a Baseball Stadium section. There's so many things to come up with when you approach Crazy Taxi.

Golden Axe and Space Channel could work well with a Medieval setting (river, caves, beasts) and Spaceship setting

Shinobi 3DS has an interesting level, I think the first one, which is a sort of Ninja hideout at sunset or something like that. That would be a nice addition too, with Ninjas throwing shurikens and stuff like that

for a Lava level I'd take the Billy Hatcher one from the last game or the lava themed level from Ristar

the Amigo stage could mesh up things from the previous race tracks in ASR, they are really ironic and cool to watch. I'd like to see some more instruments, like driving in a giant piano or a giant guitar, flying through maracas and so on...

an angel themed Bayonetta track with angels shooting at you and some more crazy stuff from the game

*takes breath*

I think Twin Seeds is a little boring, to be entirely honest. I'd rather see a combination of Soft Museum, Spring Valley, and Splash Garden as NiGHTS's stage.

Although...that would clash a bit with Sonic's obligatory "Green" stage. Maybe a Crystal Castle/Soft Museum/Delight City stage is in order? I'd definitely enjoy that, as long as there's plenty of references to the original NiGHTS. Of course, this is all assuming we're getting a NiGHTS stage at all. T_T Stupid Sumo.
