Unpopular Sonic opinions!

Pfft, I loved the Werehog since day 1, gameplay could be better, but his design is one of the coolest ones in the series, between the spikes, fluffiness and looking overall feral, it's the best "transformation" outside of Super Sonic for me.

It is a huge shame because of the massive bitch fit everyone had over him that we probably never indeed will see him again, such a an awesome design wasted.

You know what would be cool? A game where become Sonic characters become super heroes.

What? You say they are already? NO! I mean costumed ones...

See Angry Birds Space for reference.

Edit: I am brainstorming this, but maybe it could be the third Storybook game, except in the world of COMICS!

I thought sometime last year Sonic Team/Iizuka expressed interest in using the Werehog again in the future? I'm not exactly sure where I can find an source confirming this though.

I think that was more in the vein of a "well we might or we might not" "no comment" sort of comment.

Also: I think I like the drift in Unleashed more than in Generations. Generations' drift is kind of jerky, Unleashed's is more smooth.

I've gotta disagree and say I prefer the Generations version because of it's tightness and precision, but I guess that's why it's not the most popular opinion.

Anyway, while I'm here I'm gonna say that Generations Planet Wisp wasn't that bad. I don't find any of the main levels terrible or anything, and yes it is one of the weakest, but I still enjoy Act 2 a lot. The first part is fantastic, and while all the 2D gets redundant, I still find it kind of fun and would nominate Green Hill as the weakest Modern level as you don't really DO anything. At least Planet Wisp has the scenery porn and the scale of the whole thing. Act 1 is definitely weak though, it has some promising slopes and stuff but Spikes just ruins it and without the rolling physics it's kind of not really that great. Rocket in Act 2 isn't quite as bad, and I actually like charging it up and blasting off at insane speeds.

It's one of the weaker Modern levels but Planet Wisp Act 2 to me is at least enjoyable. It just would have fit better in Colours than this game, which I guess is what they were going for, especially with the ending being at some random 2D spot like some of the gimmick acts in Colours but it doesn't work for a "final level". I just think they went too far with the faithful to Colours 2D thing, considering the only 3D factory part is that quick step segment.

This series has MANY worse levels. In fact, I'd say both acts are better than the DS version of this level which is just DRILL constantly.

I hate all the bonus and special stages. I like the usual psychedelic designs, but they are never fun. I think Colors did it best, but that's 2 player mode too, so I dunno if that counts.

I sometimes wish Sega would have a chao garden as DLC for the dreamcast era of generations as if saying, "You want your precious Chao garden? Here! But you'll have to pay extra! *trollface*"

I kind of liked Werehog's gameplay in Unleashed HD...

And Shooting in SA1+2...

And Treasure Hunting as well...

Come to think of it, I can't think of a specific gameplay idea that I disliked in Sonic games. Some were executed badly, but I've liked them all in concept.

The 2D in 3D Sonic games has got to go. It looks quite nice and all, but it has been overplayed.

I think that one thing Sonic 06 did right is that it was more about exploration (or at least could have) and had a bit more depth.

The 2D segments in the recent 3D Sonic games are not bad, don't get me wrong. I think it has worked quite well for Unleashed, as it was still fresh. It was good as well in Sonic Colours as there were gimmicks that made the levels more vibrant (Wisps). In Generations they were fine, but they were just to many of them, since we already had the 2D sections for Classic Sonic PLUS the balance between 2D and 3D in the modern segments.

As good as it may have been in the last games, I don't want it to stay, just to (and that is my assumption) to please retro fans in order to give them some sense of nostalgia. It would have been enough if it was only in Unleashed.

Levels like Sky Sanctuary were better, as they offered a lot more 3D sections with platforming and stuff - making it an actual 3D game. (BTW, I like all those games)

I have the feeling that Sonic Team should wait a looong time before they to a sonic game again, as I want them to be creative again and be able to but more love in their games and not be pressured by other fans. Sonic Generations had a sense of boringness to it, which might reflect how Sonic Team might not be capable of creating something they want Sonic to be, without them being limited by the narrow-minded fanbase.

I prefer the Sonic 3 half of S3&K to the Sonic & Knuckles half.

I can't remember if I posted this earlier in this thread (I think I did), but I completely agree. This is why it annoyed me that both versions of Generations took from S&K half (aside from the fact that it's not even and one version should have had 3 and the other S&K).

I agree also. Sonic 3 should've gotten at least one glimpse of representation, such as a boss fight. Or even a full level. Edited by Felix

Well there's the Big Arms boss in the 3DS version...

While on Generations, Sky Sanctuary, as much as I dislike it's inclusion, I feel it's better than the original level. And despite there being 4 city levels, I would be keen to replace only one. Even more unpopular still, it's City Escape, one of the most popular stages of all time (SA2 version, anyway).

Well, I like Shadow and he's one of my favorites. That's always a good start.

I enjoy a lot of Sonic Underground music.

I think Silver actually has a lot of potential to be cool if done right.

I liked Fleetway Super Sonic's cute, confused state.

I think some of Ken Penders' proposed designs look kind of cool. I also hold his view of Sonic's first name being Ogilvie to be legitimate regardless of what Ian Flynn says.

I'm sure there's more but those are off the top of my head.

Let's see...

I don't like Sonic in Sonic Colors. I think he sounded more like a moron than the wisecracking hero they were trying to portray. Someone could say " Geez, Azure Nald, but from what I can get, according to your about me page, you like AOSTH. Isn't Colors' script like that?". Heck no, at least from my eyes. Aosth was wacky, sure, but it was a cartoon that had nothing to do with the games, except three or four concepts. And I like my Sonic canons separated, thank you. I like El Grand Gordo, but I don't want him in the game canon.

I don't like Roger Craig Smith as the new voice of Sonic, I think Griffith was way better, voice-wise.

Speaking of voice actors, Dan Green Knuckles is my favourite Knuckles.

I like Sonic Advance 3. I like almost everything about it, except Toy Kingdom.

Sweet Mountain is one of my least favourite Sonic levels. EVER. It looks more like a Mario level than a Sonic one, and while I like (or I used to like, considering my thoughts about Galaxy) Mario games, I think that the level designs should not mix like that.

Until Orbot and Cubot will not fight, in some way, directly against Sonic, I'll think of Scratch and Grounder as superior assistants for Dr. Robotnik.

I just can't hear "Reach for the Stars". I think of it as an abomination that will get stuck on your head even if you dislike it.

-I don't care for the Metal Sonic battle in Generations that much

-I HATE with a passion the Shadow battle in Generations as well

-I don't like the themes from Colors (especially the over-synthesized ending)
