Sonic Adventure 2 Discussion, Speculation, Media Topic

No, true speed is only earned in the Genesis games when not using the spindash. Sonic Team hasn't figured out how to do it in 3D yet, and at this point I'm doubting they ever will.

I think the whole "true speed" aspect is very subjective. You could say that the boosting gameplay is infinitely more speedy than the classic, and that's actually what I hear from many newer fans when they talk about the classics. It's "just not fast enough." Classic Sonic speed was more of a reward incentive for players learning the level, memorizing and dashing through without taking damage. Modern seems more like posting a challenge to the player to see how long they can last with their boosts before they come upon a part of the level they're unfamiliar with and die by pitfall.

The point is I think both modern and classic Sonic both reward players for memorization, but I'm not so sure anyone will ever win the arguement about what "true speed" really is.

Ummmmmmmmmmm.........The spindash isn't all that fast in the classics, and you had to stop to use it, not to mention, on flat ground, you gradually slowed down because it put you in ball form. The spindash was just a means of getting you started from a standstill, you could go way faster then it by earning your speed.

To me, the spindash has always felt cheap in comparison to the fun of building up actual momentum by rolling. Maybe I'm just weird.

True that you can spam the cancel and repeat for the spindash in Adventure and Adventure 2, but the games are still fast either way. Even if you don't spindash you can still get some great speed in the games.

They are pretty fast, yeah. I really like White Jungle especially because of that. Running across those halfpipe tree trunks, grabbing on and holding those vines, and bungee jumping all the way to the water's surface is always a thrill! And of course the grinding in the chase levels toward the end are a real treat once you've mastered the mechanics.

Really, I think I'm more excited for the shenanigans in multiplayer in the rerelease than anything else if only just to experience it again. Racing to the end of a level, then going back to the beginning and then going all the way back again first before a friend was really really fun. The sabotage and strange maneuvers needed to actually attempt this was pretty hilarious, haha!

I got MS Points ready for Oct 5th. Enough for this, NiGHTS, and Battle DLC if I hear from the PSN buyers that you won't lose Big cameos. Can't wait. I've been not playing SA2 for quite a while now (not since 2011) and I can't wait to play it while holding the Xbox 360 controller.

I do think a lot of people are too hard on this game (this game is very love/hate from what I've seen, never seems to be anyone who thinks it is pretty good, but nothing special). Oh well, at least I know I'll enjoy almost every minute of it.

Why would they bring Big back and then remove him again? That would be stupid. Surely he's here to stay.

I think there should have been some kind of achievement involving Big, like I dunno, spot the Big?

Well, this is SEGA. They will probably screw up somewhere

Xbox.com Releases Two New Sonic Adventure 2 HD Screenshots

Sonic Adventure 2 has returned to Xbox.com after a long time away following its initial leak on the website back in June. Ten screenshots were posted back then with one of them of Sonic and Shadow racing showing a PlayStation circle button, but this time that screenshot has humorously been replaced with one of both characters jumping so as to not show the brakes option. The Chao Karate screenshot has also been replaced with one of Sonic in the Chao Kindergarten. You can view both new screenshots in our gallery below.

I thought there were more, but the other 8 are still the same as the last time the page was up on Xbox.com.

No, Chao! Don't feed the big green fish! It'll eat you! It can't resist your cheese sail!

I always thought those little Chao drawings were cute.

Is Shadow taller than Sonic, or are they the same height? I know you can't really use that picture as a fair reference point.

Same height, Sonic's just crouching in that screen. There's plenty of cutscenes and stuff that show they're the same size.

It's back to the screenshot with the circle button again. Went on the US site and it's the same. Somebody at Microsoft must be having a laugh laugh.png

Sonic Generations is released a bit later than the console versions. That was fine.

Casino Night DLC didn't come out for about 1 month. What happened?

Sonic CD was delayed.

Why does SEGA have trouble with Sonic on Steam?

Wait, you can spam the Spindash in SA2 :V?
