I knew something was always off with Classic Sonic in Generations, and I couldn't quite put the finger on, but that's because I was comparing him to his original self in Japan. Then I remembered there was the American one.

So if you put 2 and 2 together...

They should've taken Classic in this direction:

Yeah, perhapes the biggest surprise of all when it comes to Sonic Generations wasn't that they brought classic Sonic back, but that it was classic American Sonic (with the big brows and lighter blue color). I never would have thought in a billion years that we would see that guy in anything offical again.

These look quite a bit more westernised than most of Sonic's expressions (drawn in the Japanese style that is), especially the sad faces, they look loonytunes-like.

I do like that his quills are used as a part of his emote, kind of a shame they don't do that anymore.

It's not quite the American classic Sonic, it's an amalgamation of both the American and Japanese design, it's a bit closer to American though.

I think the Sonic Cult's doing that. I can see that LinkXKnuk pic everywhere I go when I try to find any other pictures on that site.

But my concept art you quoted from my post was from Sonic Retro. Even though the same pic can be found on Sonic Cult. But I can still see the original Picture. :/

C'mon, most of 3D Sonic games had the same love and hard work, we're just not seeing it. Unleashed was great in many points, but so much lacking in anothers IMO. And well, there is a difference between see and feel
