Your Perfect Sonic Voice Acting Cast

Ian James Cortlett as Sonic the Hedgehog

I mostly base this choice on Cortlett's performance as Cheetor in Beast Wars. Cortlett's Sonic could sound like a more sassy version of Cheetor.

Mona Marshall as Miles "Tails" Prower

This was a hard one to pick, but I went with Marshall because she has a long history of voicing prepubescent boys. It doesn't hurt that two of these roles were boys who also happened to be highly intelligent, just like Tails.

Scott McNeil as Knuckles the Echidna

Scott's typical voice for teen characters would work well for Knuckles, making him sound tough and youthful at the same time. I'd imagine the voice sounding like Jetfire from Transformers Armada without the heavy processing that was used to make it sound "metallic."

David Kaye as Shadow the Hedgehog

While listening to David's work on Behind the Voice Actors, I came across some clips of Treize from Gundam Wing. This got me thinking that Kaye would make a pretty good Ultimate Life Form.

Sandy Fox as Cream the Rabbit/Amy Rose

I just finished listening to some clips of her role as Lynn from Fist of the North Star, and her cute, sweet voice could definitely suit our little Rabbit girl. I could also imagine her making a good Amy.

Mia Dillon as Tikal the Echidna/Maria Robotnik

One night, my mother fell asleep in my bed with the TV on, and I caught an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent involving a fictitious terminally ill girl being used as part of a scam. The female half of the couple involved played the part of this imaginary sick girl in phone interviews, and the voice she used strikes me as very fitting for Tikal, since the imaginary sick girl seemed to always be crying, begging and pleading for bad things not to happen to her. The same, or a very similar voice, could also be applied to Maria.

Bill Fagerbakke as Big the Cat

Fagerbakke is probably best known as Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants. He also plays Bulkhead on Transformers Animated, who is a similar character type to Big, being a gentle giant who's generally laid-back and a little slow on the uptake.

John DiMaggio as Vector the Crocodile

This just seems like it'd work so well, I envision a voice similar to his Bender/Flexo voice, but maybe a bit tougher sounding.

Neil Kaplan as Dr. Eggman

I base this choice on a voice he did in an interview featured on the Rhino Transformers Generation 1 Season 2 Part 1 DVD set. It was an "old Englishman" type of voice, and I think it could fit Eggman pretty well. I don't know about you, but I like the idea of Eggy being British.

Paul Dobson as Metal Sonic (Heroes personality)

Based on his performance as Sideways in Transformers Armada, I believe Dobson would be a good pick for this particular characterization of Metal Sonic.

Diedrich Bader as Metal Sonic (Robotic)

I base this on his performance as Infiltration Unit 7 in The Zeta Project. If Metal is played as more robotic, a voice similar to IU7 could work for him.

I'm personally a fan of the current cast, but I'd just make 2 little changes to it...

Amy Rose voiced by Liza Othiz

Knuckles voiced by Dan Green.

 

  I agree, I like Knuckles' and amy's old voices better, . Amy sounds like a slow minnie mouse right now and what was with her script in sonic generations anyway "I was afraid I wouldn't be able to flirt with you again"? Isn't that something Rouge would say?

  Knuckles , with Dan Green's voice, sounded a little bit more nervous (he is nervous you know, especially in SA2), and less cocky; but he wasn't weak.  I can't stand the new London Olympic Games one when Knuckles wins... what is with the cocky laugh anyways?

My perfect Sonic voice cast? Most of this would just be my favorite actors in the series. Some are new, but most of them have already been involved in the series.

 

Sonic the Hedgehog: Jason Griffith, Josh Keaton, or James Arnold Taylor.

 

Tails the fox: Kate Higgins or Tara Strong.

 

Knuckles the Echidna: Scott Dreier or Scott Mcneil. 

 

Amy Rose: Lisa Ortiz or Tara Strong.\

 

Big the Cat: Whoever the 4kids voice was( forgot his name)

 

Shadow the Hedgehog: David Humphrey, Kirk Thornton, or Christopher Daniel Barnes( Love his Spider-Man Noir voice. He could sound like a much more convincing Griffith Shadow.)

 

Rogue the Bat: Lani Minella.

 

Vector the Crocodile: Marc Biagi, Dan Green, or Steve Blum.

 

Espio the Chameleon: Troy Baker is the perfect voice for Espio, in my opinion, so stick with him.

 

Charmy: Colleen, I guess?

 

Silver: Josh Keaton or Quinton Flynn.

 

Dr Eggman: Who else but Mike Pollock himself?

 

So, while I would love for some voice actors to stay in their roles, or return to the series, I would be interested in hearing how some others would voice the characters.

I'd get Vector's Heroes voice back. 

 

Along with Espio's Shadow the Hedgehog game voice back.

 

And I'd keep Charmy's current voice.

 

Knuckles, I don't think needs to change actors. He just needs to go for a more deeper tone like he does with Roy Mustang.

 

Silver's voice is perfect. It sounds almost the same but doesn't have that annoying whine and screech to it that it did before.

 

I'm okay with the Babylon Rogues the way they are but Jet, if this is my perfect voice cast, I'd get someone else to do. Maybe I'd go back to Jason since he sounded good in Zero Gravity to me. Or I'd go for someone more professional like... Eric Vale?

 

Tails is perfect.

 

Sonic needs a bit of tweaking, not a change in actor. Just so that it doesn't itch past sounding like a bit of a screech.

 

Eggman is perfect.

 

Blaze is fine. Don't care either way. Same goes for Cream... except I do care either way since her last voice was horrifying.

 

Rouge, I'd keep as well.

 

Shadow, I'd just ask Kirk to use the voice had when Shadow said "Chaos Control" in the Generations Boss fight.

 

Amy, I'd get Lisa back.

 

Omega sounds great. Keep Vic.

Let's see here, I'd probably have Sonic as either Jason Griffith or Ryan Drummond, to this day I can't decide between the two. Tails would have his Sonic X VA, Knuckles would have his SADX VA, Amy would have her Sonic X VA, Shadow would have David Humphry, and Silver would have his original voice. :3

If I had to get an entirely new voice cast, Josh Keaton or James Arnold Taylor would be the perfect Sonic. Philip Proctor would be an awesome Eggman if he used his Warren Vidic voice from Assassins Creed and made it a little more goofier. I could also see Tara Strong doing a good job as Tails or Amy.

Quinton Flynn actually does Silver in the current cast, hah. If I'm not mistaken, he also did a voice in Sonic Underground... can't remember whose, though.

 

 

But for my own thoughts... Tara Strong as Amy. PLEASE. And really, if they have to use their current cast, scrap Robinson and cast Michelle Ruff as both Amy and Cream. For one, it'd be a lot of fun talking to yourself and two, that woman is easily one of my all-time favourite voice actors, nailing nearly every single role of hers on the dot.

Sonic- Roger Craig Smith or Jason Griffith. After actually hearing Jason in a Sonic game and not just hearing the worst of him on those "Why they need to replace Jason" YouTube videos, I actually like him. Probably my second favorite Sonic VA, right after Roger.

Knuckles- Dan Green

Shadow- Preferably, David Humphrey. However, I'm fine with either Jason Griffith or Kirk Thornton.

Eggman- Mike Pollock.

I honestly liked the 4kids cast, at least in Unleashed and Black Knight. That's when they finally started acting well.

 

Just take the 4Kids cast, replace Amy Pallant with Kate Higgins and Jason Griffith with David Humphrey for Shadow. Of course, only in regards to the main cast since there's plenty of other minor characters we're probably never going to see in a game again beyond tiny cameo appearances or spinoff games

The 4kids cast. I thought they were near perfect to be honest, especially Jason's voices (Sonic, Shadow, Jet). I dislike most of the current voices (especially Amy's, but I can live with Sonic's, I guess). Though I'm glad they didn't replace Eggman's cause his voice is just epic.

I'm perfectly happy with the current cast as a whole, but if I had to suggest one change, it'd be replacing Mike Pollock with Clancy Brown. Pollock does a great job and all, but I think Brown would be an even better fit given the current direction of Eggman's character. I think he can strike the right balance between genuine threat mixed with some of the comedic elements that have been a part of Eggman since Unleashed. Granted, I'd still be OK with Pollock, but had he not gotten his job back, Brown would've been my first pick.
