Sonic-related pet peeves?

I hate when people assume that all Sonic fans are autistic.

Yeah, Chris-chan and co. give people with Aspergers like myself a bad name.

Doesn't Chris-Chan hate people with Aspergers for stupid reasons? I know what you mean, though.

Some complaints I've heard have had people saying 'Sonic shouldn't be going fast at all'

Those are either troll complaints (and they most likely are considering the subject) or those people have no fucking clue what they're talking about. Pissy Dissy once mentioned one of his friends saying that Sonic would be better off without jumping just so he can focus on running fast, so it isn't too unheard of to hear complaints that make you go "Are you out of your fucking mind" at times.

But that "Sonic shouldn't be going fast at all", that sounds too much like trolling to take seriously.

People complain that Sonic is going 'too fast', I don't get that either; then again, I think people are asking for more platforming rather than "gotta go faster, faster, faster faster faster".
That, and at the speeds Sonic normally travels, it's difficult to have the player do anything. At boosting speeds, the gameplay comes down almost entirely to reacting to obstacles with a one-button solution, and you just can't expect players to react in time to do anything more complex.

I utterly despise Fleetway's butchery of Chaos.

My goodness, I think that's the first thing I've agreed with you about anything.

Let's not let this discussion get porny. I'm not porn between any two sides, because her art is still great.

(Dear me, I do believe I've gone off the deep end with these puns, and now I think I'll split before this spreads.)

Oh yeah, she's a great artist - miru'd like her (for obvious reasons). But be warned - the comment section on her account can be pretty bizarre at times.

Hm, this reminds me of a fandom pet peeve (which goes for all fandoms really): when an artist who normally doesn't draw porn draws something NSFW and suddenly tons of people start harassing them for "being corrupted". I understand not liking rule 34, or just porn in general, but being an asshole is still being an asshole.

Of course fandom artists tend to get hundreds of dumb comments, even in places other than dA, but yeah.

I have this problem too. Particularly in real life. It's why I'm always uncomfortable with bringing up Sonic anywhere else, including other Sonic boards.

A little pet peeve is how Adventure 2 sounds too much rock influenced. I can rarely find a calm, soothing piece in that OST.

I'm happy Heroes didn't follow that and instead took influence from Adventure and the Genesis games. If anything, I like how diverse the soundtracks are now.

They could try to use less drums as I suck at drums and I'm a musician so I usually have trouble with this.

Here's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHb6sza5mZs,

rather soothing pieces on the OST. And while others aren't as smooth (such as a few bouncy tracks like Security Hall's "I'm A Spy") there's a whole lot of non-rock pieces there if you stick to Shadow (electronica/Industrial), Knuckles (Hip-hop/R&B), and Rouge's (Bossa Nova) level music. I still find it lacking in the diversity department compared to the likes of the Modern Era and Adventure.

I still find it lacking in the diversity department compared to the likes of the Modern Era and Adventure.

It's about as diverse as it was striving for in the same way that the Modern Era and the Adventures went. Every playable character was going for specific genres and have the Background music fit not only the environment but the character playing through it as well. Sonic had Rock, Shadow had Electronic; Tails had ska rock, I'm not sure where you would put Eggman's genre but it could be considered rock as well; Rouge had Bossa Nova/Jazz, Knuckles had Hip-hop/R&B.

It goes into the levels where Meteor Herd is hip-hop with a techno feel too it to match it's outer space setting, White Forest is electronica/jungle to fit with having Shadow race through the jungle, Supporting Me is a rather eerie techno piece that fits with the conflict going on between the two ultimate lifeforms Shadow and the Biolizard, Security Hall is a bouncy Bossa Nova track that fits with the time limit you're given as you try to steal the Chaos Emeralds, and so on.

It may not be as diverse as something like Unleashed, in which it's whole theme was about visiting other parts of the globe and the music needs to match the culture shown, but that's kinda SA2's whole point is regarding it's music. Needless to say it has more diversity than Heroes if simply not hearing an electric guitar is the prequisite, as levels like Casino Park, Hang Castle, Frog Forest and there second acts are the only ones that don't sound rock-influenced.

I saw it as quite generic electric guitar kinda work. It was kinda dark at times.

It's sorta like Sonic CD US soundtrack for me. Can't be bothered to hear it outside of the game most of the time.

Then I take it you were listening to the music in the Sonic, Tails, and Eggman stages? Because otherwise, you won't hear Rock in stages like Knuckles, Rouge, and Shadow.

I have a pet peeve with the Shadow the Hedgehog game. I don't really care if Shadow has a gun, but...the problem is that SEGA seemed to be trying to appeal to more mainstream gamers rather than Sonic fans. I know it's a spinoff game, but this type of game could have easily worked as a game that had nothing to do with the Sonic series.
