First District 9 Footage - Keep Your Eye on This!

I just left Sony's big presentation at ShoWest in Las Vegas and in addition to a few teasers of their summer line-up, they debuted the first ever footage from Peter Jackson's big summer action movie District 9. You've probably never heard of this movie, right? We wrote a big article about it way back in July last year, after a big viral hit the halls of Comic-Con (see above). But no one knows anything about it, most people haven't heard of it, and it's a very small production with a small cast. In fact, no one even knows when its been shooting! But this footage was great, and this is one you should definitely keep your eye on!

District 9 is being directed by Neill Blomkamp, Peter Jackson's protege who was supposed to direct to Halo movie. Although this won't ever be confirmed, I'm pretty sure this is Jackson and Blomkamp's attempt to prove that he is capable of directing something like Halo. Based on Blomkamp's short film Alive In Joburg, the concept involves aliens who have landed in Johannesburg, South Africa, and are living as refugees there. It has a very Cloverfield feeling to it, and is shot like a documentary, following around the MNU (essentially, the local government-run police) who are trying to keep them contained in certain areas of the city.

The footage started out like any typical documentary on third world conditions and rufegees, with locals talking about how they don't like them. Above the city a giant alien space ship sits dormant, which is what they originally arrived on. But what are their intentions? Well, in one scene where we finally see the aliens as the MNU police attempt to tell them they must leave their shanty home, they find some sort of odd device. It's not a weapon, which is what they're usually all about. But in looking at it, it explodes and some liquid flies into the face of the man holding it. He's taken to a hospital and things begin to go crazy.

The aliens, which we got a few glimpses of, reminded me a lot of the turians from Mass Effect (see here). They were much taller than most humans and came in different sizes and colors. We saw some actions scenes with explosions and the MNU police attacking the aliens, but all in small scale (a lot like Cloverfield). And that liquid that sprayed into that guy's face - it turns out that it starts converting him into one of the aliens. The rest of the trailer plays out with scenes of him going crazy and bleeding black liquid and being strapped down to a hospital bed while he starts to mutate. And that's really all we were shown so far.

We've been hearing some rumblings about this, but it's such a quiet production, and nobody really knows anything about it. I'm saying keep your eye on this, because it looks great. It's a bit rough, being set in South Africa, but word is that Neill Blomkamp has made something awesome. And this is a far departure from any other sci-fi or alien movies we've seen recently, which I'm all for. I love fresh new ideas, and it looks like it's not only very realistic, addressing the question of what if aliens really did land in South Africa, but also quite intense with the concern that they may be trying to turn humans into aliens as well.

Though I'd love to be proven wrong, that new Star Trek movie looks like it's trying to Nolanize Star Trek, and by that I mean they're treating it more like an adaptation rather than an actual prequel. It even looks like the movie's first act is going to basically be a "discovering his powers" kind of thing, only with a Star Fleet rank instead of superpowers.

MIB3 Film in Development

Coming Soon reports that during Sony's summer movie panel, Sony President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer talked about its 2010-2011 summer releases.

Bruer mentioned in passing the previously announced Spider-Man 4 from Sam Raimi and the long-rumored Ghostbusters 3, but the biggest surprise of the night was that Sony plans to make a third Men in Black movie as well.

Although no further details were given as to the status of the film, it will see a summer 2011 release, along with Spider-Man 4.

A 3rd? Meh, the sequel wasn't that great and this is just unnecessary.

Trio Signs on to Nolan's Inception

According to Variety, actors Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page are in talks to join the cast of Inception, which Christopher Nolan wrote and will direct as his next film.

Leonardo DiCaprio has already been set to star.

Hmm a MIB3? I need to agree with advent child the sequel was nothing special and this is just downright unnecessary. But we all know what film companies are like they LOVE milking things for as long as possible.

Sandy Collora's Hunter Prey

After shooting in Mexico last year, the film has been in post-production since, with visual effects being added. "I think people are going to be shocked at the level of GC that was achieved for such a low budget film. Everything is seamless. Natural. Unobtrusive. The CG enhances the world and the story, and is only used where we felt it necessary, and is not overbearing. It compliments the movie quite well," Collora said.

The story in Hunter Prey follows a team of special forces commandos who must recapture an escaped alien prisoner after the military transport ship carrying it crashes on a desolate and hostile planet. As this was an entirely independently financned production, it doesn't have a distributor yet, and won't likely find one until Collora starts showing it around to studios this summer. You can be certain we'll let you know the moment the trailer is online. "Like the movie itself and all the promotional artwork, the trailer has a very 70’s, old school sci-fi, organic, feel to it. I can't wait to see what people think of it." Bring it on!

Sorry, but huge update.

Ricci Signs on to Star Comedy

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Christina Ricci has signed on for the porn-themed comedy written by and starring Adam Sandler called Born to Be a Star.

The story centers on a small-town nerd who stumbles upon a family secret: His quiet and demure parents were famous porn stars in the 1970s. This motivates him to leave Northern Iowa for Hollywood, hoping to follow in their footsteps and fulfill his destiny as the biggest adult-film star in the world.

Ricci is set to play the guy's innocent girlfriend in the comedy to be helmed by Tom Brady.

Born to Be a Star begins production in late April.

The Hangover Sequel in the Works

Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has set The Hangover director Todd Phillips to write a sequel with Scot Armstrong.

The Hangover follows Doug and his three friends on their drive to Las Vegas for a blow-out bachelor party they'll never forget. But, in fact, when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning, they can't remember a thing. For some reason, they find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby in the closet of their suite at Caesars Palace. The one thing they can't find is Doug. With no clue as to what transpired and little time to spare, the trio must retrace their hazy steps and all their bad decisions in order to figure out where things went wrong and hopefully get Doug back to L.A. in time to walk down the aisle.

Phillips will be back to direct and produce the sequel whose original stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms.

The Hangover hits theaters on June 5th.

It Remake to be Rated R

First Showing has posted an update from It remake writer David Kajganich:

"The remake will be set in the mid-1980s and in the present almost equally — mirroring the twenty-odd-year gap King uses in the book — and with a *great* deal of care and attention paid to the backstories of all the characters," Kajganich told Dread Central. "I think the real twist here is that my pitch to WB — which they've assured me they're on board for — is that this will not be PG-13. This will be R. Which means we can really honor the book and engage with the traumas (both the paranormal ones and those they deal with at home and school) that these character endure."

Twelve Gets it's Cast

Coming Soon reports that the cast for Joel Schumacher-directed adaptation of the Nick McDonell novel Twelve has beet set.

The film, whose adaptation was written by Jordan Melamed, will star Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ellen Barkin and Kiefer Sutherland.

The story follows a high school dropout-turned-drug dealer from New York City's Upper East Side. His lucrative life sours when the dealer's cousin is brutally murdered on an East Harlem playground and his best friend is arrested for the crime.

Twelve begins production on April 20th in New York for a winter 2010 release.

Spiderman 4 Updates from Sam Raimi

MTV reports that Sam Raimi recently sat down with SCI FI Wire and talked about the fast-approaching Spider-Man 4.

Raimi says, “Right now, David Lindsay-Abaire is working on a draft of the new picture and he’s hard at work, and hopefully we’ll see something in about three months.”

Despite hearing rumors that the villains The Lizard, Morbius and Carnage are potential enemies to Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, Raimi also adds that he cannot reveal who made the cut until the script is finished:

“I’m not at liberty to discuss the villains yet. I think I have to wait ’til the finished screenplay, and then it’d be up to Sony Pictures and the producers to determine when they want to release that information. To them, it’s usually a big, a big, big thing, a big moment where they want to present the villain with the proper respect or fear that he or she deserves.”

Spider-Man 4 comes to theaters on May 6th, 2011.

Hopefully it'll be good....

No More Pirates Films for Verbinski

Variety reports that after six years of directing the series, filmmaker Gore Verbinski will not be directing the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

The director said, "I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team. I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future."

Instead, Verbinski will focus on his adaptation of the bestselling video game BioShock for Universal Pictures, which is expected to start production in 2010 based on a script by John Logan.

In the meantime, the filmmaker is working on the Paramount animated film Rango, which is due for release on March 18th, 2011, and a new live action movie based on the Hasbro board game Clue.

Bomback Adapting The Umbrella Academy

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood scribe Mark Bomback is set to adapt The Umbrella Academy.

The Umbrella Academy, written by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, is about a group of disbanded superheroes who reunite after the death of their adoptive father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an alien disguised as a wealthy entrepreneur. Hargreeves collected the members of the group shortly after their birth and trained them to save the world, and after his death, they carry on his plan.

Bomback also wrote the scripts for Live Free or Die Hard and Race to Witch Mountain.

Wow, didn't know MCR created a comic, but Bomback doesn't sound like the right director for this.

Weinstein Co. Loses Rights to Sin City 2

IESB reports that The Weinstein Company has lost the rights to Sin City 2.

The website's official report says:

The specifics are not clear but some details are emerging that the movie will now be financed by a private equity group and an announcement is expected soon.

Robert Rodriguez' Trouble Maker studios will still produce the film.

No word on what studio may end up distributing. Universal Studios' name has come up as a possible contender.

Back in December, Sin City creator Frank Miller said the script for the second film was finished, so it's only a matter of time before we get a huge update as to the fate of this movie.

Man Shoots Himself During WATCHMEN Movie

Boy, everyone's a critic these days.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Tuesday, April 7th 2009, 4:00 AM

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police say a 24-year-old man fatally shot himself with a handgun at a theater during a late-night showing of the film "Watchmen."

Police spokeswoman Jenna LaBounty says about 10 other people were in the Regal Cinemas Valley River, the closest about two rows in front of the man.

LaBounty says that about halfway through the movie early Monday patrons reportedly heard a popping noise that sounded like a gunshot, and theater employees called police just after midnight.

She says the man was from Eugene. His name has not been released.

I just wanted to let you guys all know that the "unidentified man" was not me. I mean, I wasn't crazy about the damn movie but I didn't think it was THAT bad!

...Waitaminnit! Has anymore heard from Alan Moore lately?

WTF? I heard the movie wasn't good, but it wasn't that bad was it? Unless he couldn't handle the huge blue cock.

Reese and Wernick on the Venom Spin-off

Coming Soon had the chance to sit down with Zombieland writers/producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to ask about their first draft for the Spider-Man spin-off, Venom.

Reese said, "Venom is something that we're very fired up to be writing. We have turned in a draft and are waiting to hear back, so it's early in the process. But it's a thrill to be writing Venom for obvious reasons."

He continued, saying:

"Obviously, with a character like Venom there's a ton of stuff to draw from. Then they had specific rules about the villain and the backstory and stuff like that, so there were certain things they wanted us... certain parameters they gave us. But largely we pitched them something and they liked it but they had changes, so we worked on the outline for a long time and then we wrote the script. So with Marvel and Sony and us it's definitely very, very collaborative."

Neither could talk about whether they were going to ignore everything that happened with the character in Spider-Man 3 or start fresh for reasons mentioned above.

Eh, this doesn't sound really necessary nor doesn't sound that it'll work, but getting rid of Topher Grace would be the 1st thing to do.

Hmph the "It" film being rated "R" (which I assume is the 15 or 18 rating here in the UK) is a good thing as it will be able to go more in depth. I just wish they would announce the cast. I kind of wish upon wish that they will let Tim Curry pop in to play It again as the film was just phenomenal with him in it, I would like to see them make him just as scary if not more so with a higher rating.

Year One Rating Changed to PG-13

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Harold Ramis-directed comedy Year One, which stars Jack Black and Michael Cera, has been rated PG-13 after the filmmakers made some cuts to the film.

Producer Judd Apatow and Ramis appeared before the MPAA to argue for a more lenient rating, but the appeals board still opted for the R, which requires moviegoers younger than 17 be accompanied by an adult, because of "some sexual content and language."

After the filmmakers made cuts to the film, the ratings board changed their rating to PG-13 "for crude and sexual content throughout, brief strong language and comic violence."

Year One is set to hit theaters on June 19th.

Meh, the movie didn't looked that great so I'm not complaining.

Robert Downey Jr. Talks Sherlock Holmes

MTV recently sat down with actor Robert Downey Jr, who revealed that he’s already making plans for a Sherlock Holmes sequel.

Downey said, “I feel like there’s going to be a Sherlock Holmes 2."

The actor also revealed that it was his decision to keep Holmes' opium addiction to a minimum in the new film in order to make the film more family friendly:

“I actually petitioned the court and said, ‘This is a PG-13 movie. Let’s just refer to these peripherally. So at one point, Watson says, ‘What are you doing, that’s for eye surgery!’”

Sherlock Holmes hits theaters Christmas Day and stars Downey alongside Jude Law, who plays his sidekick Dr. Watson.

The Goon Creator Reveals Why the Film Had to be Animated

MTV asked The Goon creator Eric Powell why he chose to animate the comic adaption, to which he said that he wouldn’t have had it any other way:

“I always felt that the material would work better animated, just because of the bizarre nature of the characters and the atmosphere of the stories, but American audiences don’t always embrace animation when it’s not a bunch of cute animals singing and dancing — so I was a little hesitant about it. I thought maybe we should pursue a live action film, but then I saw the work of Blur and spoke with [producer David] Fincher and learned about the way they want to do it the way they want to treat it, and I was sold.”

Despite his hesitation, Powell believes that moviegoers are ready for a film like this for a few reasons:

“I have the feeling the Adult Swim crowd is there, and that wasn’t there before, and films like Beowulf have come out that aren’t family-style animated films. I think the doors are opening. American audiences are starting to embrace different types of material animated.”

Sounds pretty interesting.

Battling Boy follows the son of a god who comes down from the top of a mountain at his father's urging to rid the giant, continent-sized city of Monstropolis of a plague of beasts.

Channing Tatum Wants Captain America Role

MTV recently sat down with actor Channing Tatum who admitted that if given the chance to play Captain America in the upcoming film The First Avenger: Captain America that he would be more than willing.

Tatum said, "I would love to talk about it.” The actor also admitted that a few people have told him to go after the role, though nothing solid has happened on that front.

However, the internet rumor of Will Smith playing Captain America may be what's holding him back:

“When I’d heard that Will Smith was [interested], I’m just like, ‘God, yeah. That’s who should play it.’ It would be a different Captain America than we all know in the comic, but it’s perfect.”

The First Avenger: Captain America is slated for a July 22nd, 2011 release.

Gondry Talks About The Green Hornet

Filmmaker Michel Gondry recently sat down with various movie sites to promote his new DVD "Michel Gondry 2: More Videos (Before and After DVD 1)", when he was asked about his upcoming film The Green Hornet.

Things are apparently running smoothly since Gondry said, "Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg], they are the writers, but they really listen to my ideas on the movie. I think the story is getting much better and better and I feel like I'm really a part of the process."

As for whether or not The Green Hornet is going to be like other Rogen film, he says, "I think we're all trying to be a little different than we were before on this project, just by interacting with each other and the producer Neil Moritz adds a different taste as well, so all that will create a new universe."

Gondry continued to say how he was going to approach the film: "It would be safe to say there are going to be funny moments, but it's certainly not going to be a spoof of the genre. If we did that, we'd get killed by the 'Green Hornet' fans. They already hate us."

The Green Hornet is set to hit theaters on June 25th, 2010.

Aykroyd Gives Ghostbusters 3 Update

Actor Dan Aykroyd recently told a group of reporters at a round-table interview that Ghostbusters III will feature a few new surprises in addition to old faces.

Aykroyd said, “There will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet.”

What he would say, however, was this: “They’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension."

Boys and girls joining in and training? Oh great, sounds like it is going to be Spy Kids/Sky High element thrown in here and sounds troublesome.

Spielberg Thinks Transformers 2 is 'Awesome'

Coming Soon reports that director Michael Bay recently sat down with Steven Spielberg to watch a cut of Bay's upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and that the movie icon called the film "awesome":

Steven Spielberg sat next to me in a big 100 person theater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said "It's awesome". He felt this movie was better then the first - and probably my best, who knows - at this point in a movie you start to lose your objectivity. I just hope the fans like it. I'm going to start putting it in front of audiences in a few weeks - no you are not invited, yet.

We have 60 days left. Let me tell you it will be a race to finish. It's 12 at night and we are still working here in the edit room. Everyone at ILM and DD are killing themselves right now, they are doing a stellar job on the effects. We also just finished our trailer which is coming out with Wolverine. Talk to you soon.

Pirahna 3D Remake Stars Elizabeth Shue

What the hell happened to Elizabeth Shue's career? She was the world's best babysitter, Marty McFly's wife/girlfriend for the Back to the Future sequels (which, if you haven't seen them, defy expectations and are actually pretty bad ass), totally slayed in Soapdish, was nominated for best actress, and then...and then...hasn't done anything to impress me since. She's been in lots of movies since then, just none that particularly stood out. But has it come to this?

Elisabeth Shue will topline Dimension Films' "Piranha 3D," which starts shooting in May. Horror redo helmed by Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes") is set for a March 19 release.

Shue plays the town sheriff trying to save the lake and her family from being devoured by the sharp-toothed fish. Adam Scott will star as a diver for the U.S. Geological Service who helps discover the piranha outbreak.

Wow. A 3D remake of a horror comedy from 1978. A very, very B horror comedy from 1978. Ok, sure, it was directed by the later-to-be-great Joe Dante for the king of B film producers, Roger Corman. Sure, it has a cult following. But may I remind you of the key phrase, "horror comedy" one new director Aja appears to have disregarded as near as I can tell. Aja is no Dante and he's certainly no James Cameron either, who, incidentally, directed the horror-comedy sequel, "Pirahna II: The Spawning", which described as "the best flying killer fish horror comedy ever made". But of course it is. I've got a feeling that "Piranha 3D" is going to be only the best excuse for Leon and Korey to take a nap during a screening.

The Little Shop of Horrors to be Remade

Shock Till You Drop reports Roger Corman's The Little Shop of Horrors is going to be remade under the direction of Wrong Turn 3 director Declan O'Brien.

O'Brien says, "I just optioned the remake rights. We're going to set that up as a studio feature."

The Little Shop of Horrors, about a mild-mannered young man who discovers a carnivorous plant, was remade in 1986 with Frank Oz in the director's chair.

As for O'Brien's version, he says, "I have a take on it you're not going to expect. I'm taking it in a different direction, let's put it that way."

I'm hoping it'll have the original cast and still be a musical, but sounds unlikely.

Zac Effron Wants to Be Marty McFly in Back to the Future Remake?

First off, I would like to immediately point out that this isn't funny. Not even a little bit.

I was JUST discussing with a friend how Hollywood can't be trusted and will remake anything no matter how inappropriate or unnecessary. Take for instance, Back to the Future. Now this is a near perfect little sci-fi comedy adventure. There aren't any dated looking effects, all the jokes still fire off right, it's a little period specific with the 80's hair and clothes but that in and of itself in a time travel movie is humorous and doesn't hurt it a bit. Why, with all the films out there that probably could stand an updating, would you pick one made so perfectly the first time around?

Ask Zac Efron.

Ok, ALLEGEDLY anyways.

According to Teen Hollywood.com (do not ask what I was doing there because my lawyer has instructed me to whistle and look away while twiddling my thumbs), Zac loves him some BTTF, so much so that he actually drives a DeLorean, which, while cool looking and holds massive nostalgia value, is in fact a piece of shit car. Just FYI.

Ok, cool points to young Zac for owning that but I'll remain squeamish around him until he stops wearing so much makeup/hair product and finds the missing K or H in his name.

He grew up as a huge fan of the trilogy, and who didn't? That's a rhetorical question, for you trolls out there. But does he really have the nerve to claim he could walk in Michael J Fox's shoes? It seems like the only real evidence Teen Hollywood has is that he loves the movies. "Growing up, my favorite thing to do was to climb into the car and play Back To the Future. I would pretend I was Marty McFly", Zac is quoted as saying but that's hardly the same thing as "I'm gonna be Marty McFly damnit."

Of course, now that he's no longer on the "Footloose" movie remake (which incidentally would have been fine with me...whatever) maybe he's stalking the films of the 80s. Tell ya what, Zac(k)ie my boy: why don't you try "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo." There's a classic in need of a update. You can absolutely anything you want to that one and you won't hear a peep from me. But please...just in case Teen Hollywood actually IS onto a scoop and just has a lousy copy writer, don't do it. I will make it my personal mission to build a flux capacitor of my very own, go back in time, and stop your career from ever even starting. Yeah, that guy rocking it at your prom with a Franz Ferdinand song years before it came out on a weird looking guitar with colorful plastic fret buttons? That was me. Don't make me do it.

OH F*CK NO! TO THIS REMAKE AND ZAC EFFRON AS MAIN CHAR! Sorry, for caps, but this is just stupid.

Megan Fox to Star in the Crossing

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Megan Fox is set to star as the lead in the Screen Gems thriller The Crossing.

The movie, whose script was written by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi, follows a couple returning from a Mexican vacation who get carjacked and the husband kidnapped. The wife (Fox) must smuggle heroin across the border in order to rescue him.

Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper says that Fox is perfect for the part because it “requires a vulnerability to make you care about her but a kind of strength to make you believe she can pull off the things she needs to, and Megan has both a vulnerability about her and an unbelievable strength.”

Directors are currently meeting on the project, and production could begin as soon as July.

The Green Hornet Casting News

MTV recently sat down with The Green Hornet director Michel Gondry, who gave a few casting updates for the movie.

Among the first updates includes an appearance from the original Green Hornet. Gondry said, “Yeah, I think we’re going to have Van Williams. We’re going to find a cameo for him...He asked us to. It’s going to be exciting.”

As for the bad guy in the movie, the filmmaker said, “The villain is going to be horrible. He has a gun with two cannons; he can shoot people in both eyes with one shot...I hope I’m going to get the actor I want. I can’t say his name, but believe me — he’s going to be scary like hell.”

The Green Hornet is set to hit theaters on June 25th, 2010.

Ron Perlman Gives Bubba Nosferatu Updates

The folks over at First Showing report that Ron Perlman, who was cast to replace Bruce Campbell's Elvis in the Bubba Ho-tep sequel, has given a few official updates on Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires.

Perlman said, "it's looking good for maybe late fall that we'll get down to principal photography."

He also confirms the rest of the details:

"I'm on board. Paul Giamatti is on board [to play Colonel Tom Parker]. Don [Coscarelli] is on board. The script is finished. They are thinking that the resources are finally in place. And when I get done with season two of 'Sons of Anarchy' [on F/X], I think I'll have a little window at the same time Paul does, and we hope to do it then."

Green Lantern to Film in Australia

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Warner Bros. and DC Comics will shoot Green Lantern in Sydney, Australia.

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell will be at the helm of the comic book's big screen adaptation, working from a script by Greg Berlanti and Michael Green.

Sydney, New South Wales premier Nathan Rees said the film would create around 500 jobs and include a "substantial investment" in digital effects work in Australia.

Green Lantern is set to start filming in November, and Warner hopes to release the film in December 2010.

"Back to the Future" is such an amazing movie that I can't see the remake being worthwhile at all. I also predict the Delorian to be replaced by a product placement car. My bet is either GM or Audi, they both love to do this kind of thing.

I know why would they put a half-witted boy in to such an awesome film?! How dare they try and replace Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. I need to agree with Bloodfetish here, stop taking all the amazing 1980's films and churning out shitty sequels or remakes we do NOT want them!

Give us some original films damn it! At least TRY to use your brains.

P.S. Bloodfetish don't even joke about the Roger Rabbit thing... I do not want that raped... it's too good. You know if they do remake it Jessica will look all innocent and that is NOT cool. She is meant to be sultry and sexy!

Wilson will play McAdams' romantic partner.

Emma Thompson Chooses Nanny McPhee Sequel Over Deathly Hallows

British magazine Hello! reports that actress Emma Thompson is set to make a second Nanny McPhee film, which means she won't be reprising her role as Professor Sybil Trelawney for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

Thompson reveals that she isn't as emotionally and creatively attached to the Harry Potter series and she is Nanny McPhee, saying, "(Those films) are more like doing a turn, whereas the Nanny McPhees are something I've written. "They're very handmade... Those are the ones I really care about."

So nothing of high value was lost.

Wanted 2 Finds New Writer

Coming Soon reports that Evan Spiliotopoulos, co-writer of Pooh's Heffalump Movie and its DVD Halloween spin-off, has been hired to write Universal's action sequel Wanted 2.

Like the original 2008 film, the in-development sequel is based on the comic series created by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones.

Timur Bekmambetov, who directed the first film and is attached to helm the sequel.

WTF? Seriously? Sounds pretty weird for the co-writer of a Pooh movie to do something like this.

McConaughey Develops Exchange Students

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew McConaughey is developing Exchange Student, a comedy about two college freshmen going in opposite directions, for his production company J.K. Livin.

Up-and-coming writer Mike Vukadinovich will pen the script.

The story revolves around two exchange students, one who ships out from the U.S. and one who comes in, who experience new environments in very different ways: one has the time of his life, the other goes off the rails. The tenor of the project is described as a family comedy with wry overtones a la Wes Anderson.

Witherspoon to Star in Nice

Variety reports that actress Reese Witherspoon will star in the adaptation of Jen Sacks' Nice for Fox Searchlight.

Nice is about a magazine writer who accidentally kills her boyfriend and discovers that killing boyfriends is easier than breaking up with them.

Writer Ben Queen will adapt the darkly humorous novel.

Interesting.
