Sometimes, a game stops working. The disk gets too scratched, the built-in battery pack stops working, or maybe you just simply lose them. This is a thread for commemorating those games, now lost to us through the tides of time. I have several:

- Fire Emblem. I used to play this game so god damned much. On top of being fun and rewarding, it was the perfect pick-up-and-play game. But then it just stopped working. I tried to play it on an emulator a couple times since then but...it's just not the same. Hopefully this gets released on 3DS's Virtual Console. They already released the sequel for Ambassadors, so I think this is probably a given.

- Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble. It was Viewtiful Joe. Portable. That was it, mankind could never, ever hope to think of something better. So what happened to it? I don't know. By my estimation it currently resides somewhere between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, because that's the last place I remember having it.

- Battles of Prince of Persia. Also lost, probably picked up by some kid in high school who never bothered turning it into lost and found. The difference is that I don't really care, because this game wasn't very good. My heart isn't exactly broken.

- Pokemon Blue/Crystal. I paired these up because they both suffered the same fate: battery packs are dead and I can't save. Ah well, I still have Yellow and Heartgold. Speaking of that...

- Pokemon Gold. This was actually stolen. Some kid pretended to be my friend and came over to my house so we could...it was 11 years ago so fuck if I remember. But he spent an odd amount of time hanging around my game collection at one point. I didn't think much of it until I realized Gold was missing. Not only did I never get him to fess up, the guy moved away a month or two later.

Ryan, if you're reading this: no I have not forgiven you you two-faced son of a whore. I hope the battery pack committed suicide the exact instant you started playing it.

- Warioware Touched. Simply doesn't work anymore. Shame, because this was my first Warioware title and I really loved it.

Pokemon Emerald and my Gameboy Micro:

Fell out of my pocket at a casino not too far from Las Vegas. Never recovered.

I don't know what happened to my copy of Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast. I have SA2 on DC and SADX, but I can't find my SA1 DC copy for the life of me. I never lose games, so of course the one time I lose one it happens to be my most nostalgic game ever.

Also, my entire collection of Genesis games was sold without my consent. Oh, the rage that ensued.

That place seems to love killing/stealing our games, doesn't it?

Err...I kind of did that to my brother's PS1 and N64 collection thanks to a *slight* miscommunication. I'm not really gonna count those though since getting rid of them was intentional...though I *do* regret selling Metal Gear Solid and Goldeneye 64 in particular.

I had to get rid of my old Mega Drive and N64 years ago, but I didn't have many games on either. Other than that, just old Pokemon games dying, which is probably going to be "the usual" for this thread.

Pokémon Yellow: The battery died just after I caught Mewtwo and tried to save, sometimes if I blowed enough it would work, but then it stayed dead... Until some guy stolen it from me while I was on vocations, I'm pretty sure he hided it inside some PS2 game case.

Anyway the game was pretty much useless, but I really loved it, functional or not.

Sonic Heroes/Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex: My brother scratched them or something, they don't work anymore.

Rhythm Paradise/Jam with the Band: Lost them somewhere... Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Gameboy Micro/Pokémon Ruby: Only Latias and Clamper's evolutions to complete the Pokédex and baam!

I went to some mall with my family and forgot the Gameboy with the game in the coffe's table, when I was about to exit the mall (some 5 minutes later) I remember about them and rush to the coffe. They weren't there...

Lucky son of a cracker.

Let's see...

Twilight Princess (GCN): I lend this to a friend. I was told I was gonna get it back but I never did. :/

Disgaea: I had bought the original and so someone wanted to play it but as with above I never got it back. I did buy a new copy a few months back though.

Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal: Yes I have all of the original 2nd gen games. But none of them work as they used to anymore.

Persona 4: I got this last week and when I started it up again it only gets past the Playstation logo. It goes black.

Odin Sphere: I got it for Christmas last year. It suddenly stopped working a couple of weeks afterwords. I really love that game too. I think my PS2 hates certain games.

Well here's my short list:

Mario Kart: Super Circuit - My brother borrowed it for a day when he decided to go out with my dad to a car show. I told him to hold on to it.. but what does he go and do? Leave it at the car show. I still don't let him live it down to this day, since I'm such a great older sister.

Pokemon Ruby: Technically, I was planning to sell this one anyways, as I had it out on my table during one of our yearly garage sales. As a Mexican family was browsing our wares, I got up for a minute to grab a soda out of the fridge behind me and as I sat back down, watched the family pile into their van. One of the little children had a cheeky smile on his face... I looked down to notice my Ruby version was gone. Moral of the story: don't leave items in your garage sale unattended.

Pokemon Heartgold: I have... no clue. I think I let a friend of mine borrow it. But I can't remember which friend. I asked all the ones I thought might have had it, but to no avail. This probably sucks the most since my Action Replay isn't a new enough model to let me hack pokemon onto my Black version. -le sigh-

Hey, my name's Ryan and I stole a gold version from some loser 11 years ago...

Nah, just messin' with ya, none of that is true!

Warioland 1

The battery just ran out and stopped working after a while.

Pokemon Emerald

Same thing, battery

Pokemon Snap

I spilled Dr pepper all over it by accident

Windwaker

Stepped on it by accident

Modern Warfare 2

I guess it was a fucking cheap ass disk or something because it just started cracking after like 2 months

That's about it. I take very good care of my games

I have only one game that suddenly stopped working: Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition on the PS2 (probably due to scratches).

The rest of my games are quite resistant to anything: the worst thing happened when i forgot the cartridge of Super Mario Bros. for the Game Boy Color in the pocket of a pair of jeans destined for the washing machine. Neither the game and the draw on the cartridge were damaged.

Ultimate Spider-Man - No fucking clue, where DID you go? I'm starting to think you moved to another country and changed your name to "Spider-Man 3".

Super Mario Sunshine - You were nervous, weren't you? I was playing you nonstop, and then you thought I would eventually beat you after three long years of trying, but you couldn't let that happen, so you hid yourself.

Well, that's pretty much it...

Oh, but I do have a lost and found game:

My Pokemon Crystal Version vanished at some point. I think I left it somewhere and couldn't find it.

5 years later, I was going through my clothes in my closet and found it in one of my coat pockets. I played and beat it for the first time ever that day. XD :3

Ratchet Deadlocked: I seriously don't know what happened to it, but after I beat the game for the first time, It started lagging terribly, and every time I tried to start a mission, the game Crashed for what ever reason. Sucks for me, had that game not started doing that, I'd be into Ratchet & Clank more.

Psychonauts: Literally had it stolen from me the day I got it. What happened was that I left the bag with the game on it on our table at a Chinese Restaurant we were eating at, and someone swiped it when we weren't looking (well...getting food.) I've spent the last 3 years looking for another copy. No luck ;_;

My Game Boy Color: Lost it a while back. Just recently bought another cartridge of Pokemon Blue without realizing I lost it. You could tell I wasn't a happy camper when I came to that realization.

That's...honestly all I can recall at the moment.

Sly cooper 3: I loved this game. It was actually the first sly game I beat. I played this everyday. I came home from school though one day and the game was lost. I was of course disappointed, but moved on. A few days later I found it all scratched and ruined. I tried to play it, but it kept crashing at the menu screen.:( I will get another copy soon though! Trust me on that!

Oh perfect. I have a good list!

Sonic Battle I lent it to my stupid cousin for TMNT GBA. I yearned to have my Sonic Battle back. A year later, he came to visit again. I was ready to get Sonic Battle back....only to have him tell me someone stole it from him. I never forgave since.

Pokemon Platinum Lost it. I don't know the fuck how. It was in my pocket at one moment, the next, it's gone.

SA2B The disk started skipping and the whole game just stopped reading. I got it replaced 2010 so it's all good.

DBZ: Legacy Of Goku 2 Lost this one too. God I loved it. I just put the combo game on emulator.

Sonic Generations Now before everyone flips their shit, i'm talking about the STEAM version. I still have the 360 disk. I had paid for it because my 360 red ringed. And, just my shitty luck, my PC got the disk read error of death. I still can't find a way to get my money back from steam...

Tekken 3D Prime Edition This just got boring so I sold it. Ironically, today in fact.

I remember both Animal Crossing and SA2 Battle stopped working completely. These were two of my favorite games, so I was panicking, trying everything in my power to fix them. I read online that rubbing toothpaste on the discs would help, so I figured why the hell not, since nothing else was working. Somehow, SA2 started working again, so I was extremely excited to try out Animal Crossing. To no avail, Animal Crossing was long gone, never to work again. SA2 is still trucking to this day, thankfully.

I tried the toothpaste trick on my Dragon Age Origins PC disk. I'm afraid it didn't work. Not that it really mattered in the long run, thankfully. I can still use the disk to start up the game, just not for installations. And given that it's a PC game, well, there are are ways around that. <_<

Am I the only one who's never had a game break down on them?

My Gamecube's been through some heavy shit though. I'm suprised it still works.

Let's see here;

Pokemon Red: I...don't know WHAT happened with this one. It just suddenly stopped working past the Game Boy logo screen at the very beginning. We eventually bought a new copy a couple years later.

Gold/Crystal: Lost the save... ;__;

Sonic Adventure DX: This one is a strange case - it doesn't work half the time in the Gamecube, but put it in the Wii and it works just fine.

Hey You Pikachu: Had this for about a month or two. Then one of our dogs chewed on the microphone cord...

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: I keep losing this and finding it in the strangest places. Like under a book in my closet.

Pokemon Ruby. I invested more hours into it than any other Pokemon game I've played to date... then I lost my GBA with it inside.

Sonic Advance 3. In a funny twist of events, I lost Sonic Advance 2 first but found it right before I lose Sonic Advance 3.

GTAIV. Disc scratched up somehow- no idea what happened. And I never got to finish Gay Tony... wait, that didn't come out right.

There are two games that I'd like to add to the gaming graveyard and a brief explanation for why they went to said graveyard:

Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit: I think I lost this game during our move to Long Island and I could never find it when I was in the mood for racing through Atlantica in the Lister Storm

Need For Speed II: Again this game was also lost during the move to Long Island and I could never find it when I wanted to drive the Mclaren F1 on the Mystic Peaks course.

I am currently attempting to find those two games again through legitimate means but time and money are short due to other priorities in my life.
