Fun With Glitches! A Not-"Sonic 2006" Thread

Something REALLY similar happened to me too. I was in A Duel with Metal Sonic, but instead of what happened to you Metal DID show up. The door closed, but Sonic and Tails were left there standing and watching while the clock kept going forward and I couldn't do anything. I was like "Wuh?" and turned the console off. Really weird.

Oh and I somehow glitched through the floor on the Goin' Down Modern section.

I yelled in anger.

I always Glitch out on Seaside Hill....both Modern and Classic. Classic lags If I try to take the higher path at the first outdoor cannon section, and Modern crashes If I take the left path. I also have: Level Geometry that fails to spawn in classic, Water physics that don't work for Modern, and then the annoying "Rouge the Temptress" Mission.....

So, yeah, I'm probably not going to 100% SSH anytime soon.....

Glitches eh? Well, you know that scripted path after defeating the interceptor in Skyscraper Scamper?0.jpg

I kept blocking this guy and jumping like a maniac and when the Interceptor left, I was all alone at the square place and I could go ANYWHERE from there! It was actually a fun place. So then I entered the other hallway to beat the 3 flying robots and my boost was at normal full speed! (In case, ya didn't know, Unleashed puts a speed limit in these sections which can only be overcome by glitches!)

It was quite fun really.

Whenever playing Hydrocity zone on sonic 3&knuckles when going down this on loop I somehow wind up going to fast and glitch through the wall, I never get mad when this happens because it takes me further to the right skipping that water section.

One day I activated Debug Mode on Sonic 1. I ran to the end of Green Hill Zone - Act 3, where there was a large spike pit. A Badnik whacked Sonic into said pit... Lucky thing you get Invincibility in Debug Mode...? But you can't use Debug Mode during hit frames! Sonic was left to constantly bounce from spike to spike in agony... forever! Very gruesome.

The first time I played SA2's City Escape, Sonic didnt land on the road. He just sorta... fell into the great abyss.

While I was doing my SA2B walkthrough I encountered a glitch in Cannon's Core which stopped the time completely. It did end up going into my walkthrough but I uploaded a separate clip just to show the glitch.

I believe you have to activate the time stop switch and then quickly get away from it. I did the glitch with Sonic but I'm not sure if it can be done with other characters as well. Anyway, it could probably be useful for speed runs and for those who are struggling with the 4th mission.

Sometimes slip off the loops in Speed Highway in Adventure DX.

That wall glitch to avoid the ball puzzle in Dusty Desert.

The rails in Heroes.

You put all your effort into this one perfect run. You see the Goal Ring closing in up ahead, with you shortening your distance from it breath by breath as you sprint like you've never sprinted before...

...but then, all of a sudden...

The. Worst. Possible! THING! happens.

Wow that's some blatant animation reuse.

Anyway, back in the day this one time I randomly got stuck in the floor in Casino Night Zone. Came so out of nowhere, no idea why it happeend.

Back in the day I'd spend a while screwing around in the hubs in Unleashed, I found a lot of strange collision, such as a slope in the Apotos hub that if you try and crawl up it, Sonic would loose contact with the ground rapidly and start sliding uphill. In I think all the hubs you can bypass the speed limit by drifting but the timing to start a drift is tricky. This charges your boost which lets you air boost in the regular hubs. Doesn't do much though. I was able to repetably fall through the floor in the bit of the hallway that you can get into in Eggmanland. I found out that you can snake with the drift to run on water without boosting, I used this to thourougly explore the water sections of tropical level, I found this massive hole in the world I guess the developers never thought anyone would see. Funny thing is that, back to Apotos for a moment, right after one of the QTE ramps in act 2 there's a stairway that just kind of runs into a hill. Really shows how they expected people to be playing this game that they left such a big hole right there in the open and so close to the track. A lot of times when you drown in Unleashed but can still see Sonic, you can still visably move him around even after the death cry (Guess that's what to call it).

A while back a few of my friends and I did a livestream of generations. We got to modern city escape and everything had gone smoothly until we got to the truck chase sequence. At one point you're supposed to hit a ramp which flings you to another rooftop and the chase continues however instead it sent sonic in the opposite direction like a spring would. This completely broke the sequence as the on-rails script was no longer working. We ran on and found the truck sitting sideways on the wall but since we ran up behind it we crashed into it, took damage, fell of the wall and the game counted it as a death and sent us back to the checkpoint. Here's the highlight we made afterwars:

On my first playthrough of Sonic CD in like 10 years, I got to the second boss, did all the pinball shit and got to the top, only to bounce off Eggman, back under the floor that had closed behind me. I was stuck between the two sliding floors! RAAAAAAARGH!

A glitch in Classic Sonic's 'Race the doppelganger" mission in Planet Wisp in Generations made me super pissed. You know what a pain in the ass these racing missions usually are? Well how about nearing the end of Classic's Planet Wisp one, doing pretty good and maintaining a healthy lead only for a glitch to entirely screw everything up?

There's a part of the level where you have to activate a switch in order to move four small platforms so you can get to a higher platform. It's by a particularly large sawblade that also activates when you press this switch. I was making my way to it when, for no reason whatsoever, Classic clips through the floor and falls through it. He then gets stuck inside the level scenery and it's impossible to get out of it.

The Doppelganger goes on to win the race, making me fail this infamously annoying mission.

..Wait you're telling me this isn't a Sonic '06 thread? I'm going to have to change that:

This is why Flame Core is the best stage ever. Shoutouts to old TVs and digital cameras.

I never have fun with glitches, they always piss me off. Especially in Marble Garden, just another reason for me to hate that zone. Thankfully I've only seen like 1 glitch in Sonic Colors that made me go through the floor.

Did you record this with a potato?

But yeah, I thought the alt character playthrough glitches looked cool.

I actually didn't have a full blown potato. I used what was left from a bag of potato chips I found in the trash. :<

I had the same thing happen. It might have been that mission too.

I remember one glitch/oddity in Sonic 1, where after jumping the camera would rest just below the bottom of the level, making it appear as though you were travelling on thin ground. It's a small thing but bottomless pits scared the crap out of me at first, and to imagine that they were always below freaked me out. =P

Learnt how to skip on water as Silver from this video. Kinda fun, in my opinion tongue.png After a full jump, press Square/X just before hitting the water to bounce off it.

(okay, I know this isn't a Sonic 2006 glitches thread, but I sure found this fun biggrin.png)

One time, in S3&K, i was super sonic, and i got stuck inside a wall in Launch Base. Stuck forever

Also, in SA1, there are three places that major glitches happen to me: a section of Emerald Coast, and two places in Final Egg. Never really had glitches in SA2, aside from the one in the chao garden where if you jump several times on the rocks near the chao race cave, you can escape the playable area and fly in the abyss

What a coincidence, I encountered the same thing today. Here's my video of it, included with commentary of how I think it happens.

One time in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, as Hyper Sonic, I was in Marble Garden Zone and was larking around, jumpdashing everywhere, then I got stuck in a wall and died.

Another time, I was playing through Carnival Night as Sonic in a bubble shield, and then when I was on the spinning barrel, I decided to try something out- I used a turbo controller to bounce on the barrel, and I phased through it. It was a very quick and quirky way of getting through that little puzzle, however, before I could turn the turbo function off, I'd already phased through the floor and had no means of escaping. Not wanting to reset the game, I just waited until the time was up. It was only a few minutes but it seemed like ages!

I've only ever fallen through stuff or for some reason the ring dash stops part way through and I fall to my death. Nothing fun like these, and I played the heck out of SA2.
