I just make a habit of it and draw around the same time every day!  Eventually you reach a point where you feel weird to NOT draw.  It's a very good point to reach.  But the not being a perfectionist thing helps lol.  I'd never produce this much content if I worried about perfectly clean lineart, or (comic-wise) making every panel perfect/detailed enough that it could be a standalone pic.

I often genuinely wish I had the patience to draw stuff other than girls but literally drawing things that aren't girls interests me as much as drawing rocks.  My idea of trying new things would be pics like these:

 

Tried to make a good sense of space and detail with a completely fictional background:

The opposite - tried to imply detail with very minimalistic techniques:

I hope you can't see any individual buildings towards the bottom of the first pic, or antennas with lights coming out the top of buildings, coz there aren't any. Also there is no horizon in the second pic. The background is just black with white dots and lines. IF what I was going for worked, at first glance you should see these invisible elements.

But of course it's still all girls lol. My porn comic was also a really interesting new challenge, and I've started drawing a fanart every friday - still always girl characters but at least it gets me drawing girls other than my own.

But yeah, I pretty much draw to tell a story (Phantasm Dyad), make people laugh (one-off comics) or to draw cute girls. I am yet to find art that doesn't fit into one of these categories that compels me to draw. And I wish I could coz it drives me nuts lol.

Uhh, I dunno.  Most of my recent pics tend to have fairly common elements.  I draw swimsuit pics against sea backdrops and casual fashion pics of girls leaning against walls a lot.  I'm also kind of addicted to finding new ways to implying detailed night time city backdrops with just the lighting coming from buildings.

 

 

Usually my fancier girly pics will be the result of being inspired by a current addiction song-wise.

Wanted to try my hand at a screenshot redraw.  From Excel Saga, which was like my first ever anime that wasn't Pokémon or Digimon.  I just started rewatching it and it really holds up.

 

 

Also tried this rather unorthodox expressions art meme that's been floating around tumblr lately (though sadly am yet to see anyone fill it in).

Okay now that they’ve spoken for themselves, some comments:

• From my own experience, having suffered a loss IRL makes you a hell of a lot more sensitive to death scenes in movies, but I imagine Alice is a bit too proud to cry at “just a cartoon” even though she wants to.
• I had to actually google “meme timeline” to remind myself of what were memes back then.
• Bare in mind Alice is not a nerd in any capacity and is only exposed to geek culture occasionally through hanging out with Laura.  She isn’t a gamer either.
• Cosplayers at starbucks was probably the hardest one here for me.  I tweaked and tweaked but I couldn’t get rid of this air of disrespect.  Alice would be confused but entertained in a genuine, non-mocking way by the costumed folks.
• Used underwear was probably one of the biggest challenges because thinking of how Alice would react, I had to combine confusion, anger, revulsion and a slight tinge of fear into one expression lol.
• Drawing characters about to sneeze is hard but very very rewarding.

I'm not into Vocaloid music at all but I utterly adore Hatsune Miku as a physical character design.  I'm always terrified of drawing characters that are predominantly drawn in an anime style because I feel they won't look right in a more westernised style like my own but I'm actually pretty pleased with how this came out.

Obligatory Summer Swimsuit Pic - 2013 Remake

So here’s what I was working on.  I’ve wanted to remake this picture forever and I finally found an excuse to.

My old crappy phone had no way of getting pictures other than to take photos, so for my phone backgrounds I would just snap photos of the computer screen with my latest artwork.  One day my phone ran out of memory and I was too nostalgic to delete anything (due to lack of ability to transfer photos off my phone).  So since 2007 I had “Obligatory Summer Swimsuit Pic” as my phone background.  Mollfie recently gave me a new phone as a present, so, high time I got a new background for when I move over onto it.  Except I’m so attached to the idea of OSSP being my background, the time was now to finally remake it.

So I made this to be a phone background.  Uhh… kind of overkill I guess.

A Christmas Kay and Rhubarb.  This version is pretty heavily censored to keep things tasteful for SSMB.  There's a slightly less sfw version here (you'll still need a dA account with mature filter disabled to view).  Nude versions and such also exist in the usual places.

 

It was meant to just be a pin-up for my nsfw blog but it ended up being so cute I decided to make this sfw version as well so it wasn't limited to my tiny (known of) audience on said blog.
