And I was a perfectly happy kid, completely content with the knowledge that Dr. Eggman and Dr. Ivo Robotnik were one and the same.

Ahhh...

Sonic Adventure brings so many memories.

And I never even played it when I was little. ._.

Anyway, I love this game. I usually end up in the Chao Garden however, haha.

Once I found a glitch where I was at the edge of this little island in the pond in the Mystic Ruins section of it(the Chao Garden). I was holding a Chao, went to the edge, and stopped. Knuckles kept walking but going nowhere. Combined with the fact that some koala was trying to jump onto the island from the water but failing every time, it was hilarious.

I found it weird as hell too, but then I eventually rolled with it. At the time, I knew he was still Robotnik when I was younger since that's what I always called him before "Eggman" came into the play, but as time went on I ended up using "Eggman" to the point that I hardly use "Robotnik".

I'm the same way. I hardly ever use "Robotnik" at all anymore.

For the record, the only reason I use "Robotnik" most of the time is simply as a sort of subconscious choice, if that makes sense. I've always been fine with either name.

Honestly, I was one of those kids who didn't give two fucks. I thought Robotnik was Robotik for the longest time, then I found out it was Robotnik, and my mind was blow, so when I find out it was actually EGGMAN, I was like "fuck this".

Where to begin...

I grew up on this game and this game alone (DX port, for GameCube). Ever since I was 4, I have been playing this game. I still have this one clear memory of when I was 4, there was this really big storm, and I was scared of it. I started to play SADX and forgot all about it. I LOVED (and still love) that game. I was too little to care about graphics and glitches. I just played the game and had fun.

That is, until the Big stages.

Being a little kid, I never knew how to catch Froggy. I got him in Twinkle Park the first time by mere luck, and I couldn't figure out how to catch him after that. I didn't know that you had to jerk the line and set the hook. It took me forever to figure it out, and up until that point, I had been trying to catch all the other fish in hopes that the game would then let me catch the stupid frog.

About 8 years later, I was determined to finish what I had started. I started to play the game on my old save file, and, after finally figuring out how to catch the frog, I finally beat the game.

Also, I never really understood why they had the whole "shoot stuff for more time" mechanic they had going with Gamma. However, I definitely prefer Gamma levels over SA2 Tails and Eggman levels.

Other than that, the game was awesome, and is my all-time favorite Sonic game. Sure, the voice acting needs a little work, but it was 1999. I liked each character's gameplay (except for Big) and mechanics. I thought that the story was great. I liked how each character had their own different way of portraying how they saw the events/cutscenes. The hub worlds were small, but they were better than Soleanna. The level design was great (mainly in Sonic's story), and the game has some of the best music tracks I've ever heard. I remember a time when I was little, before playing the game, I went into the sound test just to listen to "Open Your Heart." My brother was like, "C'mon, just play the game!" and I was like, "No! I must has listen epic song!"

Also, I must confess, I love the Chao garden. I spent countless hours there, raising my Chao to be awesome. And I enjoyed it, it was fun for a little kid like myself. Nowadays I find myself in the Chao garden again, this time less for fun, but for nostalgia.

Long story short, I love this game, and it's my favorite in the franchise. End of story.

Despite some flaws, I still love this game, it's one of my favourite 3D Sonic games. I thought it had a great story and I enjoyed the gameplay for all characters (except Amy and Big for obvious reasons). I liked the level designs, they were colourful and interesting. I liked seeing characters such as Tails and Amy develop more throughout the game, I also really liked Gamma's storyline. Even though I like SA2 better than this I will admit, the treasure hunting stages worked better in this game and also Tails' stages were better. I thought the soundtrack was great, a mixture of different styles of music was nice and I like how each character was given their own theme and it was a nice touch to add the theme song in the background once the character would make an appearance. I thought the hub worlds were a great addition, I loved running through them especially in the Mystic Ruins and I think the graphics were and are still quite good.

Sonic's gameplay was fun but also loose at times when going through narrow areas but very fun most of the time in wide areas. Tails' gameplay was enjoyable too, the only problem was that his flying ability could be a bit of an issue sometimes but I still enjoyed it and Knuckles' gameplay was simple and fine too, I like how it offered more exploration. Amy's however was a bit too slow for my liking, Gamma's gameplay was quite enjoyable too as the shooting mechanic worked and it was fast paced, I just wish they didn't include time limits and they also could of changed the levels a bit but overall it was fine and I prefer them over the SA2 ones. Big's gameplay was my least favourite, I won't bother talking about it though. I will admit the camera could of been better, the voice acting was poor and the cutscene animation was pretty bad but despite this I still love this game, my opinion hasn't changed much, it is still one of my favourite Sonic games.

Robotnik or Eggman was a complete boss in this game now that I re-watch the cutscenes He ALWAYS shows up at the right time to steal the Emeralds. He straight bum-rushed Sonic and Tails right out of Casinopolis, stole their emerald, and knocked them unconscious. He could of killed them right there if he chose. No fear.

Yes Big sucks, Amy is slow, etc its flaws are well documented, but Sonic Adventure is still awesome for me. I played SA for at least 3 years consistently and didn't really appreciate the level designs until I bought and beat Adventure DX. Twinkle Park was low on my list of favorite stages. Nowadays with the multi-tiers, variety between sections, its one of my favorites. I hated Lost World as a kid and now it might be my favorite stage in the game.Honestly I'm still waiting on a game that picks up where it left off in terms of control and level design. It aged poorly technically, but its concepts as a 3D (Sonic)game are far better than what came after it. I can talk more about it but I'll sum the rest up as: Nostalgia.

I don't really play the Adventure games that much at the moment. I still really like SA1 though, I like the level variety the most, it has the most variation in level gimmicks in the 3D games for sure.

The aging badly and glitchiness really hurt it, but it's still pretty awesome aside from the obvious genre roulette and stuff. It's set up particularly in terms of the intertwining plot was really cool both here and in SA2. It also had a great balance between realism and cartooniness (which only Heroes, Colours and sometimes Generations really do).

06 was really trying to be like this game but failed to capture what made this one fun i.e. the level gimmicks, the colourful and varied locales, the pizazz, the Sonicy feel, the streamlined hubs that became bloated and bland here, and even Wave Ocean just makes me wish I was playing Emerald Coast.
