Dragon Ball (Warning: Untagged Spoilers)

Given that anything goes for this Multiverse tournament, with the only condition being that the Zen'O are satisfied or that the combatant stops moving, that could be a reason why Goku gets Lapis and Lazuli to compete. Since they have an infinite energy supply, the two of them could serve as an impenetrable wall against those who rely on technique or attrition, not overwhelming power, to get the win.

The energy and power of Universe 9's Trio De Dangers cannot be sensed by Goku or those in Universe 7. Maybe that serves as the inspiration for Goku to give them a call as well, to even the playing field in that way.

Spoiler

This doesn't confirm Gohan loses. Zen-Oh just wants to watch people fight. There's been nothing about the exhibition match ending when one universe has two matches won.

I think there's a decent chance of Goku losing, but not on purpose.

Spoiler

Yep, it's official now, the arc is one big wake up call for Goku, not only they're forcing him to choose between a good fight and the universal destruction, flat out, no ''oh he didn't know'' excuses, but also he's been making an ass out of himself for all the 12 universes.

Spoiler

So in the end it was a tie between Gohan and Lavenda

Also...

Spoiler

Daikaioshin is it? Revealed that all universes are rated and the ones in this exhibition are the lowest 2 (U7: 3.18 v.s. U9: 1.86) Also seems like universes 1, 5, 8 and 12 are exempt from erasure since they have a media above 7, also the angels will be exempt from erasure. So the ones in real trouble here are universes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11.

We also had Beerus and Shin blaming each other for being so low-ranked :P

So the erasing of the universes was always a foregone conclusion and the tournament was just a way of making the proceedings more interesting. Idk why a average power level of a universe is the sole factor at judging a universe's worth but there you go.

Also that pretty much lifts the blame right of Goku's shoulders doesn't it? So much for that development opportunity

That's still up in the air, as the preview for next week says

Spoiler

That Bergamo will make a deal with the Zen'Os to lift the universal destruction rule if U9 beats U7 in the exibition match(Probably since the lowest tier universe beating the second lowest would prove their rankings are bullshit), and for that he has to beat Goku.

So Goku will A - Lose on purpose and save 7 Universes

O B - Let his Saiyan Pride speak louder and win on the grounds that ''it wouldn't be fair for Bergamo if he didn't give his best'' and beat Bergamo, condemning 7 universes.

Nice to hear that Goku's suggestion didn't bone the other universes. Hell his suggestion is inadvertently saving one, lol.

Still...the fact that THE god(s) priorize power level over life is terrifying

Yes but not entirely surprising all things considered. Ever since Super Started (well actually more like since Battle of Gods) deities and higher being seem to have a general nonchalant attitude regarding death. I mean several of them destroy worlds for pretty petty reasons. Like literally none of these people place any major value in the life of others at all and clearly don't seem to mind that god knows how many people have died because of them so whatever.

Spoiler

The universes being disqualified for being too strong is cool, since it gives the show plenty of choices for enemies after this arc.

I like the relationship between Shin and Beerus. Though it feels a bit strange, since here it feels like they've know each other for ages, but if I remember correctly Shin didn't seem to know of Beerus.

So

Apparently TFS was supposed to voice this scene of Kai, but on the official release, it was cut.

Uh why?

The funny part about the scene that aired on Toonami last night recycled the exact same script from the original dub of that episode. I'm not sure if the voices themselves were recycled as well (if this was a last minute change, that could be the case). Didn't realize it was supposed to be even more over the top and ridiculous.

Does anybody know where I can find the Xfinity version of this episode? its being uploaded in HQ everywhere but I can't find a source, I'd like to keep a HQ copy in case Toei goes full asshole and removes it from the DVD/Blu-ray versions. PM me if you don't want to link it

Oh man...What a wasted opportunity. What'd TFS do for this scene in Abridged? Invite the current cast of DBZ/S?

Were still in the Cell Games.

I know. But this part is Bound to happen someday and it'd be great if they invite Funi VAs to do the same.

BTW, I read that this version was kept in the "On Demand" version of the episode

It is, its why its leaking to even begin with. and anyone who has Xfinity should check all the Kai episodes on their to see if anymore changes were made.

It's weird actually, like the goofball imitation lines are the exact same recordings from the 90's dub, but others namely the Z Warrior lines are completely different and new recordings so its not 100% recycled from the old dub.

Turns out the Tournament of Power won't be 1v1 fights.

It's all a single 80-man Battle Royale in a 48 hour time limit.

Convenient for other universes to all gang up and take Goku and the immortal Buu out early, convenient means for 17 and 18 to just go by undetected and knock people out covertly, convenient for Krillin and Tien and Roshi who are technique specialists to remove unwary fighters quickly, convenient for the actual tournament to potentially be a facade for a greater plot.

I'm just imagining a hilarious scenario. Tien uses Taiyoken, blinds everyone, sweeps them out. Now, I doubt it'll work in a void world but oh well. I love Battle Royale's so this is up my alley. 17 and 18 can team up well, like their future counterparts! I am scared that poor Buu will be jumped immediatly, though he could stretch back in if he thinks. Also remember guys, Hit will be likely patrolling around as well as female Broly. No flying, trapped in a ring with a Legendary Super Saiyan. Yikes.

Goku made me really uncomfortable in this episode for just how much he didn't give a shit about anyone but himself. Bergamo and Toppo were absolutely justified in calling out Goku as an evil asshole who nonchalantly put billions of lives in danger (yeah Zeno was going to erase them regardless but still I don't think Goku is totally blameless). He doesn't express any worry or regret about what he's doing and the effect it can have on other people, it makes it hard to believe this is the sane Goku who willingly stayed dead to keep earth safe

I really hope this is very much intentional and there's a plan of where to take Gokus character or watching this will be more and more frustrating

That Bergamo and Toppo called him out on his attitude shows that there is a point to Goku's chaotic-than-usual brashness in this arc. It should be made a point of and resolved later on.
