Wow, so Sonic really was relatively useless in that game?

Not until you gain Super/Hyper Sonic...tongue.png

Magikarp power FTW!

I hope one day SEGA will allow us to play as different characters as well as Sonic, I miss playing as Tails and Knuckles.

I'd like to see more Chaotix games, with a surprise appearance from Mighty. It would make my life complete.

I really enjoyed Generations but had they used the stuck in time opportunity to show us those old characters again in more than cameo posters it would have been awesome. Boss fight against Nack on the Sunset Park train, a mission or two with Mighty and Ray. It did tap into the Sonic franchise well considering its length and play time, but they could have tapped in much further. I would rather have seen some Master System/Game Gear stuff in HD than stuff that was in HD originally like '06 and Unleashed stages.

There's tons of stuff they missed out on when it came to Generations. Even if they couldn't put in more levels (for some reason) and even if they couldn't include new levels through DLC (for some reason) they had the opportunity to make the unlockables more worthwhile than just music from the past games and artwork from the game we were currently playing.

The trophy room was nice. It came with Big, Jet, Omega, Chip as the only stand-outs from Sonic's history and not just what Generations decided would be apart of the "story" as it were.

Maybe more in-depth descriptions for the characters in their profiles that listed more Sonic channel attributes about them.  All-Stars Racing did that. It had a few of the characters' favorite foods. Black Knight did that but including their ages.

Black Knight even had these montages of fan-art. More music cues for nostalgia when the characters showed up too.

Maybe we could've collected more trophies somehow like in Smash Bros. Maybe we could've unlocked artwork for the levels left out of the game and gotten descriptions of what they were.

Maybe story synopsis' from the previous titles. Maybe they could've done what they did in Unleashed with the unlockable cutscenes but have them be re-done scenes from past games.

Or just made the game longer. Or something that made it feel like it was supposed to encompass a full 20 years. Such a huge missed opportunity man. I still haven't gotten over it.

I agree fully. I harp on about it all the time, but nothing has come close to the extras in Sonic Jam. Would be nice to see something one day that has the amount of extras that did but more up to date.

It still confuses me there wasn't extra DLC for Generations beyond Casino Night Zone. The White World had a fair few pathways or platforms that went to dead ends, like there was meant to be something there. The early reports seemed to indicate that the handheld version would cover other territory too but it didn't apart from a Rush level. Sega seems to like creating missed opportunities rather than actually using the opportunity. No extra levels in games that people would lap them up in (Generations & All-Stars Racing)..they are taking their sweet time with the "character" singular they mentioned for console owners after the poll for Transformed too. I just hope it ends up a pack with character(s) and level(s) otherwise it was a long wait for not much.

I'm still gunna be patiently waiting to see Nack again some day. Bringing him back in Riders or All-Stars or as mentioned before Generations due to his past run in with Sonic, would have been a great starting point that Sega previously said they needed to re-introduce a character. He even has a bloody air bike already for Riders/All-Stars Racing. History of Sonic that Sega checked over before its release even states he has a loyal fanbase waiting for his return, so they know enough people want him back to warrant a mention. So I keep waiting....

On the topic of forgotten characters, I really do have a desire to see them in modern games - something that will probably be a moot wish that'll never happen.

I'd also like to see something akin to SA again, but without such genre roulette. Six different characters, taking same/similar levels but different paths for each character. Like, take Sonic, Ray, Mighty, Espio, Blaze, and Tails. Plop them in some new version of, say, Ice Cap. Sonic would have a basic pathway opening up to *some* alternate routes; basically good for speedruns and general platforming virtual adventures. Ray would start from a different point, a somewhat higher route, and could glide, accessing caves and such that Sonic couldn't. Mighty could have a lower route, but could stick to stalagmites and stalagtites more easily due to his lack of fur, as well as being able to use stronger attacks; his shell would be a better defense mechanism. Espio would be like an optional stealth mission, with the invisibility power, and using shurikens as weaponry. Blaze would have somewhat good defence with the added bonus of burning down ice caps and icicles to find secret paths. Tails would have the highest route, lose more rings than any other character, and would have a gameplay akin to Epic Mickey, save for mechanical weapons rather than paint.

... Hell, I'd love to see a Sonic game like Epic Mickey. Use Classic Sonic as Oswald and have a steampunk mashup of Sonic memorabilia and old levels from Classic games long forgotten.

I personally thing the Deadly Six should eventually become playable characters somewhere down the line. After seeing some of the moves they pulled off in the fights against them, I just stared thinking "Man, these guys are awesome. If only I could play as them one day..." I would especially like using Zor's dark magic.

Zavok would ideally use his fire punch from the trailers, plus some more fire-based moves (Fire breath? Flaming Shoryuken-like attack?) As he's said to be the "Master of Chaos", maybe he could use Chaos Control and associated abilities (Chaos Spear, Chaos Blast, etc). Maybe give him some magma and/or darkness moves, but as a drawback, make him slow and make these attacks burn off Ring Energy when he uses them. Of course we need his Hishoken, and maybe incorporate his growth ability.

Zazz would have a more melee-based style, with his jumping attack from the boss battle, some form of grappling move, possibly even the moon he uses as a weapon. His lanky structure makes me think he could pull off some fun Dhalsim-esque stretching attacks, such as extending his limbs or even constricting the opponent. His jumpy nature would also entail shorthopping (like in Super Smash Bros games) and/or a triple jump. As one tiny detail, he is immune to attack in his upper back, and damages enemies with his spines.

Zeena would keep her snowman-headed Olympic hammer, and also be able to use her horn and claws in combat. Perhaps she could have an attack similar to Espio's automatically damaging run in Knuckles Chaotix? She could also use her bomb-snowman-fence thing as a defensive move, able to zone in with enemy targets.

Zor has his dark magical powers, which would allow him to duplicate himself, posses enemies, shoot balls of dark energy, and perhaps even create a miniature black hole (Black Hole Bomb much?). Zor's rose could also make a decent weapon, like Dudley tossing a rose in Street Fighter III (or even Jean's Ball Rose)

Zomom I could see spinning in a tornado when he jumps, like Blaze and Espio. He would also use a body slam attack like the one he uses in his boss fight. Perhaps give him the ability to eat his enemies and copy their powers, due to his voracious nature. He'd be very slow but have a high jump. When enemies land on his head, they take damage.

Zik's unusual shortness will bring a whole new dimension of play (perhaps Bomb would work for this too?), as he could go through small passages most others could not, as opposed to much of the rest of his group, who would be too big for many doors and need to break paths with their attacks. Zik's magical spells would be his primary attack, but he could also fight with his staff, pulling off everything from simple melee strikes to pole vaults, grappling, and other crazy maneuvers.

Does anyone agree with me on this?

I'm not sure it would make sense for the Deadly Six to be playable. I mean, aren't they trying to destroy the world?

Miru is male. And maybe he means a villain centered spinoff game?

Yes, I do mean a villain centered spinoff title. Either that, or as non-canon bonus unlockable/DLC characters in Time Attack and/or multiplayer mode.

About a week or two, I wrote on my tumblr spotlighting Uncle Chuck since he's one of my favorite characters from SatAm outside of the main cast.  It was originally just going to be about why I like the character but I ended up having my own thoughts on what if he was brought in to the game universe.  Below are some of my thoughts

Why not introduce a character’s relative?  That would breath some new life in Sonic storytelling.  I think a character that would be a great fit in a future Sonic game would be none other than Uncle Chuck of Archie Sonic, SatAm, and Underground.  Now I do not think he’d be my top choice as a playable character but he would be great as a supporting cast.

SEGA may not like the idea of another inventor since Tails already fills that role but I think it can work and say he (and maybe Rotor as his assistant) a mentor to Tails.  I have a couple ideas on how he can be used.   Whether the storyline is darker like Sonic Adventure 2 or lighthearted like Colors, we can introduce the robotizer and how he intended to use it for good but is sabotaged and used on Sonic’s friends and maybe on Uncle Chuck himself.

Maybe establish history between Chuck and Eggman before the Doctor became the mad scientist that he is today.  In Generations, classic Eggman said he was going for his teaching degree and perhaps Chuck went to the same school as Eggman.  Heck, he can be a Chilli Dog Vendor too!

He’s more serious than Sonic but can crack some jokes.  Not only is he an Uncle to Sonic, though not biological, he is “uncle” to many of his friends.  He is willing to put himself over others and like Sonic stands up for what he believes in.  With the fun dialoge in Colors, Generations, and Lost World, I bet the writers can whip up fun moments like in SatAm and as recent as #254.

It may be an odd choice to have but I think it's about time to have a father figure in the game.  Rob O' The Hedge is another one I briefly thought about as a character in a storybook game.

I see no reason they can't bring back Mighty, he has a fairly decent fan base and if they have him a modern redesign he would have to be too "clone" like...not that being a clone seems to be a problem these days *cough*Shadow*cough*Silver*cough*

Okay, really? How in the blue hell is Silver a clone?

In terms of appearance, I can see it.

The fact that the game itself draws attention to Silver and Sonic both looking alike is considerable too, as seen from both Elise and Amy.

In terms of gameplay, yeah, they're completely different.

Barely. Not like there aren't similarities that are pointed out, but that's a lot of physical differences between the two to be called a clone compared to Shadow.

Silver's hair is completely different from Sonic or Shadow's, not to mention his big clunky boots. Saying he is similar in design is like saying Marine the Raccoon ripped off Tails' design. He plays different, and looks different.

Though the game does draw parallels between the three, though only to reinforce the over arcing idea that Shadow is the Past, Sonic is the Present, and Silver is the Future. As plainly stated in the final boss.

Silver shares the same species, height, weight, initials, and super-form fur and eye color as Sonic and Shadow. He also shares the same core abilities (Spinning, Super-Speed, Homing Attack).

Silver never spins, runs quickly, or homing attacks in Sonic 06. As for species you've got me there, but height and weight are probably pretty similar amongst all of the cast. Every ones super-form is yellow.

In Sonic Rivals 1 and 2 and Sonic Generations 3DS, he makes use of Sonic's speed and agility. Everyone is given specfic heights and weights, Silver's isn't similar at all', its Exactly the same as Sonic's and it was confirmed to be I yentional alon eith every other simi, iarity they share. The only ones to change color when Super are Sonic, Shadow and Silver.

Well I've never played the rivals games, nor do I consider them to be canon, Silver only exists in Sonic '06 canonically because with a good future he has no reason to change the past. You lost me on that second sentence, I have sat here 3 minutes trying to figure out what you've said but I can't decipher it. Tails also becomes golden, instead of his regular orange. So I suppose by your logic Tails has just ripped off Sonic then. I only know of the main series games, I don't follow DS ports or PSP minigames.
