I was losing my faith in the fanbase... in a manner that I was starting that my perception of the characters is wrong and the fanbase is indeed right with their crazy derailments...

I thought people only do that because they didn't understand canon and if they were professional writers they wouldn't do that kind of thing...

untill I crossed with THIS in Tv Tropes:

Rule34 — Creator Reactions

There is a (while not porn, not work safe) Sonic the Hedgehog anthropomorphic Gender Bender doujin written by Koshi Rikudo.

Where? My curiosity is piqued.

It sometimes makes me want to look up Archie Sonic...only to turn me away again with the crap art and silly stories.

It's gotten better ever since the new writer took over and actually got some decent artists.

It doesn't look or read like that anymore.

So where exactly would I have to start to get a taste of these new writers and decent artists?

Issue #160 would be that starting point, yup.

Issue 160 is the earliest to start, though if you want to start more recently then id say #225.

Ian Flynn is amazing, he's a Sonic fan so he knows what we like and what he should and shouldn't do.

Plus there's tons of in-jokes as well :)

I hate His World. It's overused and doesn't even like fit Sonic that much.

The lyrics capture Sonic perfectly.

Hahah, so that helps x) Probably will go with the earliest rather than the latest though. I know Ian Flynn is a good sport, heard quite a bit of him and how he just laughs when he sees people pointing out his terrible early illustrations.

Yeah, but the tone and all that stuff doesn't.

In his world, compromise does not exist.

What do they mean by that?

In his world, every step beats the rest.

Well, bloody hell, it would if the game this was in was Sonic Rivals, not 06. Seriously.

The whole 'compromise does not exist' means he's quick to take action rather than trying to talk it over or fall for pointless monologues from the bad guy.

The other one is pretty obvious.

Yeah, I don't read the comics, but I do like how collected Ian is, even in the midst of all the crap he gets.

POPULAR OPINIONS:

- Sonic 2 is fun

- Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the greatest and funnest

- Don't want to see alt playstyles in the future

- Boost needs to go

- Sonic 1 is fun

- The series as a whole almost ALWAYS has great music

- Classic formula > Dreamcast and Modern

- Sonic 4 is a pitiful excuse for the sequel to S3&K

- Sonic Adventure 1 is the 3D Sonic game that most closely resembles the Classic Sonic

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS:

- Sonic Adventure 2 is the most fun 3D Sonic game

- Sonic Adventures 1 & 2 are BOTH underrated by a LOT of fans and overrated by a LOT of fans

- I have a lot of fun with treasure hunting and shooting in the Adventures

- Sonic Unleashed is not good (Day AND Night)

- Sonic 2's Death Egg is absolutely horrible

- ALL of the special stages suck except for Blue Sphere

- Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Generations are NOT horrific

You Can Do Anything is the song that doesn't, other than the word "Sonic".

By the way, I love every theme EXCEPT Free.

You can do Anything > His World. Really. It has a certain charm that no other Sonic theme has, that even Sonic Boom lacks.

"His world" isn't one of my favorites, but it does describe Sonic well. I like the Crush 40 version the best.

Also, the whole "Mobius" thing with the comics has gotten way out of hand. I understand the whole "new storyline" thing, but there are way too many different things in the world that seem completely out of place. That's the biggest problem I have with the comics.

I have to say a few things:

1) Sonic 06 was a terrible game, but it had a few decent ideas when it came to gameplay. That doesn't mean they would've actually been any good had the game been finished, but things like Shadow's Chaos Powers and Silver's Telekinesis could have some use if we could adapt them into what we have now.

2) Sonic Chronicles wasn't the best Sonic game, it's characterization was off with some characters and it definitely had some errors. But There are some things I can appreciate from it, such as how the cast were somewhat more likable to other people than they were when handled by Sonic Team, I found the Nocturnus to be interesting, and although Shade was bland in characterization I like her design way too much to see that done away with. Really, if there's one thing I would take from this game and use in future games, it would be the Nocturnus clan. They would make some great secondary antagonist to the rogue gallery.

Exactly what about the "mobius" thing has gotten out of hand? Because I feel a need to remind you that the "Mobius" was the name of Sonic's world throughout all the media in the west before it was retconned to fit into the Japanese continuity of Sonic always being on Earth.

My opinion on Sonic Chronicles: I think it's worse than '06. Yes, that '06. With all those glitches and plot holes, at least it felt more like a Sonic game than Chronicles.

And before you say "Duh, Chronicles was an RPG", I believe they could have done a better job. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was a perfect example of making an RPG that still felt like a platformer.

Sonic next gen has some of the best levels I've seen in a Sonic game.

If the gameplay complimented their design it would be amazing!

I sometimes go back to replay Crisis City and Kingdom Valley over and over.

Absolutely! I would be lying if I said '06 is a great game on its own merits; however, the potential definitely shows.

For the majority of the time, especially during Mach sections, the game controls are disgusting. But when they work well with the level design, they work great. The Mach section during Kingdom Valley, when one manages to complete it without dying once, it's a great feeling.

And the music, don't forget the music.

It's a guilty pleasure game for me.

Shadow on the other hand I love legit, but that's another story.

I'm used to the mach speed now, so I can clear those sections most the time with ease.

The sky gem and the blue gem made playing Sonic a bit better.

Still wish the Spin-dash was actually decent to use, it's rubbish in this game.

Considering that Sonic is pretty much the fastest platformer out there, I'd say it's kinda hard to get a balance with an RPG game. Mario is all about precision platforming, remember? So it goes without saying it's far easier for Mario to handle RPG than Sonic.

True, but I think the main problem was the developer; Squaresoft was not only on top of their game back then, but they understood what Mario needed to be successful as an RPG. Bioware is the new Square when it comes to RPG's, but their Western roots just didn't blend well with Sonic (even if he was meant to be for Westerns) in my honest opinion.

If Bioware developed Sonic to have a pace more like Chrono Trigger (no load screens for battles, faster pace and more action packed)... And more polished too. I mean, what really killed Chronicles for me is the whole menu structure and lack of polish.

An RPG NEEDS a good MENU system just as much as it needs every other component.

my reaction?

You know.

I read this and my mind instantly jumped to:

5546.jpg

"I, Koshi Rikudo, do hereby give my permission to turn the Excel Saga anime into a Sonic the Hedgehog pornography."

koshisig.gif

And I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. Which is really awkward, because it's quarter after 3 in the morning and I just woke my mom up, but that's the funniest thing I've seen all fucking week.

Thanks for that.
